  • Where does Eno get his morality from?

  • brian- get into new order, not new world order. bernard , not bono. you have not paid enough attention to the great music of joy division, new order, electronic, or echo and the bunnymen. but then, they did not need help ,as the bands you involved yourself with did. a lot of help.

  • george soros -- hungarian nazi sympathizer.

  • secular fundamentalism is more than capable of world misery. the religion of the left is responsible for more horror in the last 100 years, than ... see stalin , mao ,pol pot , hitler- no judeo- christian values. in texas we believe in " out of many ,one", sweden is multicultural. we believe in liberty, not equality, and we trust in god, not the left. we like small government, so that the small citizen has a chance. george soros is pure evil, ala stalin. i respect brian more for his music.

  • He is a great thinker.

  • Totally amazing interview! Well done!

  • Oh well done Brian!

  • and now let us discuss the idea of UK being a figleaf covering the overt aggression of america to iraq.... love that one brian peter...

  • I think doast summarises Eno's position succinctly and accurately. I also happen to agree with Eno on this point as well. Excellent interview. Shukran, ya al-jazeera!

  • When it comes to music or politics, Eno says some pretty odd things. While this is a useful tactic when dealing with the former, it is rather pitiful when applied to the latter. For instance, the potshot he takes against "market fundamentalism" is followed by a non-sequitur substantiation in which he singles out schools and prisons. Huh? Is there anything more manifestly controlled by government--and thus, not a bit laissez faire--than the examples he cites? GO BACK TO THE FUCKING STUDIO!

  • I believe Eno is stating that due to an attitude that issues can be decided by the market alone, the development of social institutions like schools and prisons are being neglected. The market that is there is profit-oriented, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Seems pretty straightforward.

  • Yes, but my point is that prisons and schools are being neglected under the status quo--which in most of the world is under the thumb of government. I interpret his statements to reflect merely a festering anti-market bias which he's never been able to fully shake from his youth. If you want to make a substantiative critique of free markets, it would make more sense to talk about the problem of externalities, or something--not blaming markets for the failure of governmental institutions.

  • actually these are intervened by private enterprises proving public services, due to the needs of teh infrastructure. textbooks , air conditioning, etc.

  • Okay, that's really a stretch. Wouldn't it be easier just to agree with me since I'm obviously right and move on?

  • aww what a cute capitalist, but terrorists, communists and socialists eat babies, so no, I'm not nice. Go kiss an ugly fish and I think you're autistically rain man wrong.

  • The only reason I post on Youtube is to remind myself how fucking stupid everyone else is.

  • well you've certainly reminded me about how stupid OTHER people can be. So I'm the commie bugs bunny and you're daffy duck?

    Duck season!

  • What in the hell are you talking about? I was wrong--maybe you're crazy, not stupid. When did I call you (or anyone) a "commie bug?!" Your counter-"arguments" to my point are simply nonsensical.

  • Eno/Obama '08!

  • Screw Obama.

  • obama's turning into a right winger to acquire 161803 's demographic. Probably as a sort of monitor at a summer camp for children with special needs. Counselour Obama.

  • You bloody moron: I'm an anarchist.

  • He talks a lot of sense but I hate hearing comparisons with Scandanavia. Its a place with a lot of wealth, not a lot of people and therefore not a lot of problems.

  • He is right to say that the dogma of "let the market sort it out" causes alot of damage. I also agree with him about religious fundamentalism. It is an obvious problem. But that doesn't mean that atheism is the answer. I don't think he says that. But some do.

  • Thank you! Phenomenal interview!

  • What a great human being....and talented too!!
