it was okay back then because there were more women than men and God allowed it but when Jesus came he said it should be one man and one woman not one man and three woman
as a mormon i'm glad we dont practice polygamy anymore. It was only for the purpose to support women who's husbands died during the relocation. women didn't have financial stability and this gave them and there children homes and food. it's not needed anymore so be done with it
@villikotturinn if you are going by a pure Scripture definition, the only form of polygamy that is permitted is one man with more than one wife. Also, the definition of adultery is as follows:
woman = sex with a man that is not her husband
man = sex with another man's wife
While it may not seem fair and equal, marriage is far different in the eyes of man than it is in the eyes of the Almighty eternal Creator, whose name I learned is pronounced Yahweh.
Bishop Warren Snow of Manti, San Pete County, although the husband of several wives, desired to add to his list a good-looking young woman in that town. When he proposed to her, she declined the honor, informing him that she was engaged to a younger man....he (the younger man) was one evening summoned to attend a meeting where only trusted members were present. Suddenly the lights were put out, he was beaten and tied to a bench, and Bishop Snow himself castrated him with a bowie knife.
Polygamy as a rule is just as wrong as monogamy as a rule or law. Which makes your 'polygamous' society just as wrong the very monogamous society you're trying to fight against.
I have seen this lady in several interviews. She seems like a very gentle, caring, sincere person. I don't have to agree with her to like her. If she were my neighbor, I would welcome her into my home.
I personally don't have a problem with polygamy in general, it's the brainwashing of children to think it's what some god says they need to do that I have a problem with.
I wonder how many people would force themselves to be gay if their religion said it would please their god.
The majority of polygamists do not believe in arranged marriages to underaged young women - only a small minority on the fringes believe that, and their actions are not approved of.
they really got to stop showing the LDS temple and making it llook like it belongs to the FLDS.

Why is it that "polygamy" only applies to men? Or can a woman have many husbands, just like a man can have many wives?
