  • Some of the comments on this video frighten me.

  • Piss off you feminist idiots. It's a tv show-it's called satire.

  • I'm getting bored just looking at you...- gonna have to try that line sometime. :)

  • People should be more out-spoken like this. XD

  • hahahaha!

  • it think that's a bit deeper than it seems at first - whether intentionally or not, now that i've watched it a few times)

  • Woah, a male librarian?

  • Lol, women are retarded sluts...

  • SHERLOCK!!!!!

  • Creepy. I imagine that would be one of the stages of hell.

  • For Christ Sake, why does every video have some tedious argument under it?

Look, why don't we agree that males and females generally have the same intelligence? Similarly, that there can be absolute fuckwits in any sub-group of humanity and that judging any group by said fuckwits makes you look like a cognitive miser?

It's times like this I hate all of YouTube and all of humanity.

  • @doctortehe

So you're judging all of youtube and all of humanity by the few people who are stupid enough to argue in the comments section of a youtube video? Seems a bit hypocritcal to me.

  • @Philsaccountable I would give a tedious answer here but I cannot be bothered. I am a hypocrite, yes. I am a boring boring hypocrite.

  • The 'top sonte' (spelling probably wrong) reminded me of would i lie to you.

  • @iamXSTEALTHZX Probably where he got the idea from in the program - he said afterwards he struggled to think of a magazine.

  • If you are tall, and like chating ,yu can go here. --" Tal l'' h u b". С'⊙M."..,It's a cool place, come on ,join in us,Maybe you will like it

  • I'm currently in library school. Wonder what type of librarian I should plan on being...

  • Seems a lot like my dating life...except without the success.

  • Love the aggressive yawning.

  • And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a creep.

  • I went to Warwick! :(

  • D'aaaawww poor woman.

  • "Are you still here you soporific dullard?" Class stuff.

  • Roy from The IT Crowd was right. Women do like bastards.

  • @IceyOnly Haha, I'm such a Bastard.

  • Bernard Black is the ultimate librarian!!!!!

  • @STABBERBALBOA Whenever somebody mentions Bernard Black I always think, "Half ten?!"

  • @JDLupus I've never been up at half ten! What happens?

  • @athox YES!! :DDD

  • @STABBERBALBOA

    he's a bookstore owner not a librarian:D

  • what can I say, women like being abused lulz

  • OMG that was beautifully done

  • well thats my career sorted. :)

  • Funny that women are far more educated than men and tend to be smarter/sharper, yet most men really are this condescending.

By the way I'm a girl and I like sweet guys. Never dated a jerk.

  • @AirForceGirl05

"general and insulting generalization that only furthers sexist practices

By the way im a girl and I like guys who treat me like a princess"

Oh I'm sorry should I have read the differently? Look I'm a guy and I tend to be nice to people but should we just accept total insults? I also cant accept someone is educated if they claim that one sex is far more educated and are generally better. Education means you get past childish notions like that.

  • @Satozz

Oh please. Did you bother replying to any of the men who have commented here by insulting ALL women? Of course not.

Anyway the truth still stands, most men are condescending for absolutely no reason.

And here in the west women are more educated than men. Google it.

  • @AirForceGirl05

They are in education more than men, so technically they ar emore educated. But women tend to fill spaces in the less respected and frankly less demanding courses, Social 'science', Textiles, etc. Whilst courses like Physics and Maths are dominated by males. Get over yourself and stop making sweeping statements

  • @Unevaluated Physics ftw!

  • Comment removed

  • @AirForceGirl05 I doubt there is any legitimate study that could actually back that up ma'am. There are bad statistics that "could" but not truthfully.

Any sweeping generalization is just a product of ignorance or blame shifting. To think that I sought out your comment because you are a women is ludicrous. I responded it because it was near the top for me. Man, women or child can all be insulting and rude. It is not a characteristic of a gender, race or age but one of humanity as a whole.

  • @AirForceGirl05 Interesting comment. So where are the statistics supporting such a claim ? You have none? You have no feasible evidence? You have no factual support? Oh? Truly.. Making a comment like that without anything to back it up.. That isn't what an educated/smart/sharp person would do in my eyes - And you're a girl!

  • @PlightOfLogic

    Google.

  • I'm torn between feeling bad for her, and loving him.

  • what the fuck was that?

  • @spacecatmoonbeam dude lighten up im not that stupid it was a joke i would never do this and seeing as i also work in that area and probably know more about it than u do u can just go fuck ur dog

  • This video, being what it is, scares me. The librarian's comments force me to recollect my own when dealing with women Not so directly or hurtfully of course, but in the way I am often "condescending" towards them. I don't even mean to do it as far as I'm aware - we're just having a conversation about things I know something about, and srive to tactfully impart that knowledge, whether for acceptance or debate.

Even so, women seem to fall into my lap. Am I...hurting them, psychologically?

  • @C4War10r Bro,

don't give a fuck. I guarantee you have a similar, crushing effect on the ego of males who recognize they too are below you in the social hierarchy. Wield your power. If you don't, someone else is going to use theirs.

Trust me. Worked thus far. ;D

  • @AldousAsmodeus I don't doubt that you're right, but I do give a fuck, bro. One thing I learned as an NCO is that the bonds forged by mutual respect and trust are far stronger than those forged by fear or deference. Give me 12 men and a good cause and I'll have them operating as one organism in a month. Give me one woman and I'll have a lapdog in a week or less. Doesn't anything about that seem wrong to you?

Maybe I'm just attracting the wrong women....

  • Wow! Just... wow

He kind of reminds me of Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes.

  • mans got negs

  • Just wanted to say that libraries (in the US) do NOT keep records of what books you've checked out. There are strict privacy laws about this - even your husband/wife can't call the library to find out what books you've currently checked out (if you're away and he's trying to gather a list of books to return). Even the government can't subpoena the library's records, because there are none to speak of.

  • @dharmaturtle How do they know if you've stolen a book?

  • @purplemonkeyelephant Keyword being "past" logs :) They know what you currently have checked out, but the moment you return it they delete it from their system. Librarians are awesome like that.

  • @dharmaturtle wow thats er, really interesting

  • poor woman :'( xx

  • this made me laugh so much, i do this to people in my head.

  • His yawning made me yawn.

  • i would never go on a date with such a guy

  • Is someone who works in an industry more or less destroyed by Jeff Bezos really in a position to criticize others for their choices in life?

  • Grrrrazia :D

  • I see. So I take it she's a masochist then...?

  • Jesus Christ, this guy's cruel and manipulative. Nobody knows how to condescend like the English, lol.

  • Tryed this once and got a slap round the face what did i expect oh well i didnt like her that well anyway

  • Comment removed

  • @spacecatmoonbeam As somebody who works with victims of too-serious-itis I recognize this character type instantly, this is a comedy, meant to remedy your too-serious-itis. Yet you have taken it too seriously... likening some chap who has left a light-hearted comment, to someone who commits domestic violence. Your malady is indeed most serious

  • Comment removed

  • @spacecatmoonbeam fake and gay and also leave the dog alone

  • @spacecatmoonbeam but thats exactly how you pick up all the hot ones, pay attention to anyone but your target, every time things get a little too comfortable between you two change the subject or just hope somehow the conversation is interrupted and once resumed you wait for her to start the conversation. making women work for it and giving them only the smallest amount of attention followed by a negative response is how you 'score'

  • @eidius1989 Or you could be honest and act naturally instead of being a manipulative arsehole.

  • @195ashes i lol'd

  • Shane Richie... bwahahaha!

  • break them down and build them up, huh

  • One of the most genius mitchel and webb moments if you ask me hahaha

  • @cbarzarz Shut the fuck up. Fucking hell...

  • *Black Books

  • ouch

  • HEY! im 20 can still barely read and find this offensive! picture books FTW!

  • The really sad thing is you can see her universe crumbling in her eyes.

  • Reminds me of Sherlock XD

  • @thisloneliness I KNOW RIGHT. I saw this and immediately thought of Sherlock and Molly. *feels awful* But it's so true~

  • @candymandy224 Well, not the end bit with him asking her out XD that's just sexist. But he probably thinks all of that before, even though he doesn't say it, poor Molly.

  • @thisloneliness Ah, didn't mean *I* thought it was true XD I think Sherlock's constant internal monologue is probably a lot like this...

  • how about a little date LOL :P

  • hahahahahhahahahahhahaha! So evil. So miserably hilariously evil!

  • I love this sketch !

  • I thought it would be David Mitchell's "Evil___" in this, but Robert Webb's funny here too. The other character, however, would have just told her to get out.

  • She reads Shane Richie's Rags to Richie. Badger don't give a shit.

  • Librarians: only THEY know the real you.

  • I've lived in Leatherhead for 11 miserable years

  • Brillant! :D

  • I have dated like 3 of him

  • @PsychoBatcave why??? O.o

  • it's David Walliams without the massive ego - beautiful

  • Negging at its finest.

  • @MrFictive most extreme neg ever haha

  • Got creepy at the end.

  • LEATHERHEAD!!!!!

  • You soporific dullard!

  • Comment removed

  • I have a friend that is capable of doing this with ease... Scary thought.

  • You soporific dullard! Brilliant work again!Cheers!

  • shane richie....hilarious

  • What the fuck is a book?

  • @ShaolinDeadlyGamers Well according to my dictionary, it was some sort of ancient one way communication device. It was apparently made of paper. Lol that sounds funny.

  • @ShaolinDeadlyGamers they had them before the internet I think

  • I absolutely can't stand people like that in real life. I really don't understand how anyone could agree to a date after that. Low self-esteem I suppose.... But yes, that's the point of the sketch of course...

  • what the heck does a libraian has to know apart form the alphabet?!

  • @zbasy How to research for universities.

  • I got all my girlfriends by insulting them.

  • Not now silent singer...

  • @FieldHockey007 where is 50 greatest coastal walks of the british isles volume 2 !!?

  • I think she's gorgeous.

  • the scary thing is....... this is probably a really effective way to pick up women.

  • @ronoc9 Read Neil Strauss' book 'The Game' there is a whole formula behind this.

  • @ronoc9 i think you'll find many shallow guys operate like this. treat someone like shit. shatter their self-worth so that they think the bloke is the best thing to happen to them. see: abusive relationships.

  • @ronoc9 Women are like pokemon. You gotta crush them than capture them.

  • @ronoc9 Chicks dig jerks.

  • He would be the ultimate bad guy in a movie.

  • He seems to be a Circulation Clerk, someone who works the front desk. A Librarian usually has a separate desk in an area marked "reference." At least that's the way it is in the States. Circulation Clerks aren't required to have Masters degrees, but Librarians must and some have more than one Masters.

I did think it was funny.

  • @ohoyochata Yeah, the same is true of British librarians as well. Over here you can do a bachelor's degree in an undergraduate course specifically tailored to libraries (Library and Information Studies, I think) - or you can do master's degrees to specialise in Library management. Which kind of library you're in largely depends on how qualified you are - for local council libraries a short course, for university libraries multiple degrees. Most ordinary library workers are volunteers.

  • ROFL. I hope most Librarians aren't actually knowledgeable of books. And he is so rude in this sketch but so right at the same time.

  • i want that kind of power

  • brass eye plagerism

  • And I thought I'd heard the worst pick-up line ever... Actually, it's so bad that it's good. I'd still throw a book at his face, but it's a very good line ^^

  • I've met people like him...

  • @ben9DB I've met people like both of them. Wearisome, to say the least.

  • interesting character

  • i wish my local librarians were this opinionated & insightful, it would make my study time SO much more interesting =D :L

  • hey dont take the mick out of shane richie's book its quite good actually!

    still funny though

  • A male librarian? Not for the last thirty years at least. I am 55 and I cannot recall seeing a male librarian since about 1970.

  • @WilliamGruff There's one in my local library ^^

  • @WilliamGruff AT my uni about 40% are male so there are a fair few. But I suspect half the male faculty just want to spend time around uni girls.

  • @WilliamGruff Wow. I can't actually think of any time I've ever seen a male librarian. Is it in the Librarian's Code? Like the Freemasons accept only makes, perhaps the Librarians accept only females.

  • @ChristopherDone because female librarians are always hot intellectuals but you see a male intellectual their usually fat or balding.

  • @reka10 TBH most librarians I can think of are fat women. From the north west of England.

  • @ChristopherDone well you have been going to the wrong libraries.

  • @reka10 No true Scotsman, huh?

  • leatherhead for 6 years.......mmmmmmmmmmm

  • great moments in pick up history

  • Aw don't pick on leatherhead...there are some very clever people here!

  • lol

  • This is probably the most convoluted pick up scheme ever. Love it. xD

  • @trafficconecartoon

Nah, it's just a strong negging.

  • "Reading list of the University of Thick" Fantastic.

  • Anyone read Eragon trilogy? Fantastic.

  • As terrible and boring popular fiction books like The Twilight Saga are, most classical literature is barely readable. I mean 'Cold Mountain' is just boring... and I found the film boring too. I remember falling asleep, which incidently is what I did with the Twilight film. :P

  • shhhhhhh this is a libery

  • I have to admit i did not see the last part comming.

  • I want to go up to that guy and check out a book for quantum field theory..... see him try to be smug then.

  • !

    Top Sonté! (Or something)

I was watching "Would I Lie to you", and David Mitchell mentioned Top Sonté. So this is how he found out about it.

  • Pummel her self-esteem so far into the ground she'll take any oppurtunity to go out with anyone? Why didn't I think of that?

  • @chailizard Because you're not barney stinson

  • @chailizard that's called negging

  • So, I believe what I want to believe, HJKHJHJHGJJK believes what he wants to believe, and everyone else believes what they want to believe. As long as we don't start any trouble, like a war, it's no problem. ^^

  • THE VID FROOZE

  • @Vannereveilar Fall in love, fall in love with me, nail a crucifix onto your soul...

  • I actually thought he was going to imply suicide when he had a little thought :D

  • tears are the best lubrication...

  • @wieserd That is f'ing funny.

  • What's with that stupid 1950s laugh track?

  • @RandyAKing there is only ONE laugh track

  • @RandyAKing

It's not a laughter track, they have a live audience. I've been in it.

  • @rajivk91 what about sketches like this, do they show them on a screen in front of the audience? because this one isnt a studio...

  • 41 people have read "Rags to Richie: The Story So Far", the autobiography of Shane Richie.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow...

  • How the fuck can people be arguing over the existence of God on a video like this?

  • @pancake1567 Since religion infests the world in it's illogical and filthy way in every conceivable way, it's sadly necessary.

  • @seriegubben ...to talk about it constantly in things that have no relation to it at all and come off as an asshole.
