Definitely compares with David Oistrakh's version. Hell-raising virtuosity at the highest level. I'm shocked to hear such perfection from anyone let-alone a young lady. I am Hiliary's ardent fan after watching this video. Bravo! I will buy all of her cds tomorrow.
It's really irritating me how the audio and video aren't matching up haha
I was actually sort of disappointed... I was sort of expecting a bit more finesse and a sharper, more nervous sound, and while I'm not sure "pesante" was written anywhere in the movement (I have yet to buy the music), I wish she played the G-string passage that way.
she really has gorgeous sound and spectacular consistency and volume in the stratosphere, doesn't she? rarely her articulation gets lost, but when it does, it hurts me. she can really whip a horse's ass!
flute could be much louder on the high Ds. can barely hear them. sad face.
I am not a violinist but a pianist and I hever never heard Prokofiev's violin concerti but having studied some of his music hearing this makes me appreciate him even more as a composer. Most of his works for piano are exceptionally difficult but this looks hard to play just as well . lol
She's so incredibly accurate.. Hilary Hahn is fantastic. Something caught my eye, though.. She didn't use a mute at "2:48', and instead she played sul ponticello. Any thoughts?
I think Hilary Hahn is the best violinist in the entire universe in my opinion. Not overly emotional, and near perfect, (because one can never achieve perfection), and she doesn't make stupid faces. :D Well it's just my opinion I prefer music that's well played and not overly-emotional.
At 0:50, she seems to be looking towards the concertmaster. I've seen so many videos of her, but I've never seen her do this. I wonder this was just a random glance or whether there was some "cue" that either the concertmaster or she had to take from the other...

the only reason anyone could dislike this is because not getting to see this performed live sucks.

peu de compositeurs conjuguent l'imagination l'invention le délire avec ce métier, cette logique et cette folle énergie

I know, but I dont care about thumbs down and what-not.
People don't seem to understand what an opinion is, and when it contradicts their's, you get the rest.
I guess, it's bad to be honest and to compliment a good violinist. :D
