It's things like this that make WoW the ultimate MMORPG.

It's so realistic, even accidents happen that make it much more interesting.

Developers nowadays are always striving toward making the "perfect MMORPG" but they fail to realize how fun "realism" in a game can be.

I had my doubts about WoW being the greatest MMORPG but this clearly proves it.

hopefully they'll introduce more creative yet realistic patches like this, because sometimes it's more fun not to know what's coming.

It was done because in Zul Gurub, the plague is from boss Hakkar, and some clever genius hunter gave it to his pet, dismissed it and called outside of instance. APOCALYPSE!!

i read about this. it was an infection that you got from some boss dungeon. people acted like it was a real infection. the healers or whatever offered services to heal people and low level players guided people away from the major cities since they couldnt help directly. people spread the infection on purpose and many died instantly. they even studied this for real world epidemics.

this is way after the real plague outbreak , he just got his pet infected and on the end someone removed the debuff from the pet , when the plague first came it was spreading like crazy and toons were dying left and right IF looked like a huge boneyard

The Corrupted Blood plague originated when an expansion pack to WoW that added, among other things, a new boss to fight, Hakkar. Hakkar could cast the spell Corrupted Blood, which drains health and is contagious. The spell was designed to wear off as soon as the players left Hakkar's room, but it was discovered that through the use of a teleportation spell, the plague could be taken outside his room. It spread quickly after that. The Corrupted blood incident was an unforseen glitch, not hackers.

u can still get this but it only hits party members lol so i guess gold spamming bots are invincible unless u kite a mob with an AOE but with WOTLK no mob in the game will get past the guards cuz he cant hit them

Sorry man. this is long ago. Blizzard fixed it. But again they are going to do this in thenear future E.g- The Zombie outbreak for the upcoming exoansion world of warcraft coming out. They may be another infection glitch or they may make it on purpose because scientist are wanting to use game of how people will react in the epedemic (see wikipedia) So it is more than likely there will be another infection in the near future.

this "volatile infection" is Hakkars corrupted blood debuff, players couldnt take the disease out of Zul Gurub but hunter pets did, and it spreaded to Orgrimmar and Ironforge and popular places, it could kill noobs instantly but high level players could carry the disease around infecting others before they died

According to bbc, it is from hakkar, but it should not be contagious, just when someone infected a pet or something like that and discovered that from now on it could be spread through simple contact, then it became a plague, even Blizzard could not think about it. Thats why i love WOW.

Lol when i was a noob in WoW i was randomly wandering and i found that island and i took the blood, shortly after the dwarves mugged me i got ressurection sickness and hearthed to org, when i had the blood i thought it was worth something so i tried to sell in the AH a few seconds later i noticed there were alot of corpses.... it was fun way back when theres was only original wow...BC Expansion killed WoW and i doubt blizzard knows of this and will not fix the fun with wrath of the lich king expansion...so i would play Age of Conan since its pretty much a WoW clone with a diff classes/races ect.

I wished I played WoW during this (or play it in general). Despite how annoying and frustrating it might've been....there's something cool about an accidental plague that spreads through a virtual game world, like in real life.  It's like Resident Evil, only without the zombies....or The Stand.....without it being the end of the world....

Blizzard should think about making something like this into a storyline, or event, where thousands of players die off, and you must look for a cure.
