  • Oh my god! I've been searching for this song for eight years. I first heard it on one of my dad's old tape records and fell in love with it. Can you tell me the song's name?

  • @k2b87 Brian boru's march if im not mistaken

  • wow!!! the last note *__* james galyway is the best!!!

  • its so hard for me to sound nice on the flute but his music encourages me to keep trying

  • what is the name from the second song?????????

  • Comment removed

  • @bardos97 It's 'Danny boy'. It's a beautiful song thet reminds me my holiday in Ireland.

  • The song is called Brian Boru's March

  • @ltschriscrucker yey thank you :DD

  • does anybody know where i can get this notes for flute??? i love it :D

  • wow... Sir James Galway is awesome! Wish to see him live... :D

  • he makes it sound so graceful and pleasing to the ear. I'm not a flautist so I can't really tell if he's made any mistakes, but to my semi-musically-trained-ear it sounds pretty damn good :)

  • @MaddieEP101 It is !!

  • this is a fun song to play, I LOVE it!

  • Hey, anyone hav his ver of Brian Boru's march, cuz the scores i got is different, or at least the music is different...not talking about tone and technique, just the scores.

  • This would be fun for a solo at districts :)

  • @GrEyPaLaCeBaLLet what does it mean?

  • @traversoflute what?

  • @GrEyPaLaCeBaLLet

he was my reason for learning to play the flute about 30 years ago, if you have never followed him his recent actions are 'the lord of the rings', every time i see him play he amazes me, i wish sometimes people would relax and respect, as he is classic in what he does xx

  • Yes. The first song is Brian Boru's March and the second piece is Danny Boy.

  • SUPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • His tone is beyond perfect. <3 This makes me miss playing my flute everyday.

  • @Monehh Yes, this gives an idea his sound at his best.

  • Very cool song! =)

  • Such a nice Clip but can sameone tell me what is the name of that song thank You :)))))

  • @vankataaaaaaaaa Brian Boru.

  • La "Irish son" es muy hermosa. Tiene un toque melancólico que estremece. Sin duda, sir James Galway es el avatar de un genio de la flauta.

  • no, it was in Casino (Bern/Switzerland), as I remember.

  • i think i was in this concert? was this in maribor?

  • Brian Boru's March, Dmaj i think

  • Brian Boru's March.

  • He is amazing! And I realized that the band I'm playing the second irish song he played. :) Made me happy, haha

  • Amazing

  • His playing is top notch. A technical master of classical music. My preference though, is for the warmer tone of an open hole wood flute. I find flute players like Kevin Crawford and Matt Molloy that come from a traditional background have a far deeper flair and color of tone in their playing of Irish music. They play with a certain flow of rhythm that seems to be missing in James Galway's playing IMHO.

  • Could anyone tell me the name of the first irish song? it's enchanting

  • Brian Boru's March

  • im learning the flute currently and i just love galway!

  • galways inspired me to play as well! gonna pick up a tin whistle and play some lord of the rings. it's just such a beutiful instrument. all flutes are beutiful

  • i agree. i just hope to become famous 1 day with playing the flute

  • @dirosaga

    hey... ;)

can you send me the notes of "lord of the rings"? I don't find hem anywhere.. :(

  • This is..................MAGNIFICENT!!! How can such a man play the flute so beautifuly?? :') (tear) Why this is so beautiful and i am glad to be playing the flute. Now i want to make a promise. I promise to always practice and to always listen to your videos for more of your beautiful music. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone know where i can get the exact music sheet for flute of the first song "Brian Boru's March " ???

  • You could probably find the music sheet if you visit Sir James' homepage - look at his publications, there's one called "James Galway: Songs for Annie - Flute and Piano" As far as I know, you can find the sheet for Brian Boru's March in it.

    good luck ;)

  • very much appreciated C= thankies

  • it useed to be on his web site...don;t be lazy!! play it by ear--it;s in c major/a minor

  • i love james galway

  • mee tooo!!!!!!!!

  • no its a bit longer so he can play bottom b

  • No that's not a standard size flute. The foot joint is longer than normal, and so is the space between where the head joint mounts and where the keys begin. I'd really love to know what kind of flute that is. He said in one of his other videos he has at least 23 other standard flutes, and a bunch of others besides. Oh I'd give anything to be tutored by him. He's beyond amazing. Right now I'm trying to retrain my embouchure like his... blowing into the flute and no smile technique.

  • never mind. i was insane. Heh. It's a standard flute... but it does appear long in this video for some reason. At least I wasn't the only one who noticed. *giggle*

  • The second one sounds like it belongs in the Anne of Green Gables movie

  • appears long because galway is so short-I me t him and he's tiny!

  • Someone knows the name of the second song?

    Thx in advance!

  • danny boy

  • First is awesome

    Second is beautiful

  • the first one is sooo great...

he´s the best player i know...

    it sounds soo wonderful :)

  • It just a standard flute! :) maybe it just has h-foot... ? ;) I think it has.

  • I recently took up playing my flute again in a band. Sir Galway's flute looks like it's a lot longer than mine or the standard flute. Is it?

  • It's the "King Briam Boru's march" and it's indeed a quite beautiful song! Hear it on the harp. It will make you cry for sure...

  • I've been looking for this music played by Galway for the past 10 years!!! I never knew the name!! Almost makes me tear up..

  • pahud is the best :)watch ibert concertos by pahud and hachaturian too

  • :) I like Pahud more. :)

  • Beautiful. His tone is so sweet and pure, and his expression is so wonderful, it's unreal.

My music instructor told me that my tone was like a baby James Galway.

    I about cried.

  • Gorgeous.

  • excelente! admirável.fantástico!!!

  • his flute is so amazing...the resonance is like wow...

  • isnt this song called ireland? my band played this last year

  • I don't know really.... :)

  • @traversoflute It's Brian Boru's march, Irish traditional. We heard Sir James playing it yesterday in Budapest and it was amazing - he's brilliant!

  • the first song called:

--The march of Brian Boru (celtic)

    [a very nice song!!]

  • Great! I was looking for the song but I didnt know the name. Thx very much! Do you know the name of the second one? Again thank you very much!

  • @quannersx I'm quite sure the first song is called "Brian Boru's march"; the second (from 1:37) is "danny Boy).

  • i love this piece!

  • Simply beautiful..

  • OH yeah Danny Boy the pipe are calling! that is phenomenal!!!!

  • Is there anyway you can send me the sheet music to Brian Boru's March?Or where can I get it? It's so pretty!

  • I want to be that good. What kind of flute is that?

  • It's just traditional academic flute. But I don't remember the name of the brand...

  • I heard his main instrument is Muramatsu and on the occasion he uses Nagahara flute.. Muramatsu is the best.. (I use DS model)

  • How do you feel about the pads of the Maramatsu? Do they close perfectly, or do you have to press a little?

  • james is the best.

who is the autor of "irish song"? is francois devienne?

  • No, it's 'traditional'

  • Danny Boy!

  • does anyone know the name of the first song?

  • Brian Boru's March.

  • The second part is like an angel singing. Moving, pure and delicate. Thank you for posting this, I added it to my favorites.

  • :) i am glad that I have done smth good :)
