I'm sorry that some of the people think its pointless to argue about the name of the movie "The Karate Kid" . I am Japanese and when i was a little girl I took Shotokahn Karate. Karate is a japanese martial art and Kung fu is Chinese martial art This movie takes place in Shanghai, taught by a Kung Fu master while he expresses it several times that its Kung Fu. Its almost racist saying " Oh yeah they are all asian we cant tell the diffrence we will call it all karate..."

One of the reasons why this movie sucked so hard is definitely that they desided to use so young actor as the main character. He doesn't even look like a teen ager yet! And the bullies were just plain creepy, not like the bullies from the original karate kid who were badass and really were kind of like the some bullies I had once

My rating: 3/10, it would've been 1/10, but the story in film was pretty good. If only they had better actors to do the parts (except Jackie Chan)

I love both the original, and this film. They both have many different aspects. I personally like Mr. Han over Mr. Miyagi, because Miyagi never explains his methods. The new one is more thought out, and the old one was riddled with cliches.

It's good to say, but doesnt sound as good unless people are able to do the moves.

Ofcourse kids are going to like this one over the original. The kids will always like what is current. But the original was the best. Mr. Miyagi made that franchise, KK10 is nearly a shot for shot remake of KK84, but without the heart.

@gothatway09 that isnt true. when i saw the new charlie and the chocolate factory when i was still in like 6th grade and I just didnt like it. the old was SOOO much better. Same goes for star wars. the prequels werent bad but just not as good. I think that has been a big stereotype for kids. You cant just say the original karate kid is the best. That is YOUR opinion, but it isnt official. the original is just more iconic because they milked the series with the sequels and cartoon.

I like the good meanings that are in this movie.They are not the phylosophy of the stars,but the phylosiphies of many others.These phylosiphies are from way before these people,but I am glad that they are still being taught today.The original karate kid has lines from a Bruce Lee movie from a long time ago.This movie was not made to upset people,but rather to bring them together.I' m glad will smith is teaching his son to make a difference in the world.I'm glad Jackie Chan is doing his best also

This movie was horrible ugh... And Smith should stop trying to make his son a star. If the kis has talent, it should grow gradually through small roles untill he becomes able to carry a movie. Leading a movie after only two roles is just wrong, unless you're super talented which Jaden is definitely not
