Phil Spector, of course, had nothing to do with "Out and About," which was Boyce & Hart's first hit as a duo (A&M 858). It reached #39 over a seven-week run in July-August 1967. That December brought Boyce & Hart's biggest hit, "I Wonder What She's Doin' Tonight."
When this record first hit the airwaves in late summer 1967, it was liberating! "Summer Of Love" for some, maybe. But after a seemingly endless stream of minor key hippie dirges, this exuberant celebration of life was like a breath of fresh air. God bless Boyce And Hart! Sadly, Tommy Boyce is no longer with us, but their recorded legacy is impeccable. Nice cameo by Phil Spector, also. Who would have known.....
Oh, my goodness! I've long wanted to hear this song! For some reason I thought I'd seen it on The Partridge Family, not I Dream of Jeannie! Thanks so much for sharing.
I seem to remember in the closing scene of this episode, a band playing in the back seat of Nelson's car (a '67 Pontiac convertible--either a GTO or Grand Prix, or maybe a '68 Bonneville convertible) with this sone closing out....? Maybe?
CORRECT! I do too killer scene and if u recognize the street its the same one that the partridge family bus goes down in the opening credits of season
Yeah , you're funny, Guy has a stroke , suffers severe depression as is common, and kills him self. Hope you and anyone in your family fares better. Nice.
A couple of funny things about this episode: When Jeannie is going around creating the group from random people, 'Last Train To Clarksville' is playing. It pretty much was how the Monkees were created; and the end credits list 'Phil Spector as Steve Davis', even though Jeannie refers to him by his real name at least a couple of times in the episode. LOL!
I wonder if Jeannie/Barbara took lessons from Honey Lantree (her drumming reminds me of what Lantree did in playing drums for the Honeycomb, especially on "Have I The Right")?
Too bad Phil Spector turned out to be a manical killer who got away with murder once and probably will again, with "his dream team" and how residuals keep coming in and he'll never have to worry about where the money will come from to keep him out of jail. I remember seeing this episode when I was little.
yeah, "Love Every day". You can find it on another youtube clip from another show. I am a B&H fan, but I HATE this song. It is terrible. Whiny throughout. I know they have a couple of notes in this song and in others where the end a sentence with a high pitched almost whine, but it's for a few seconds and it works, but love every day....yuch....the whole song is a high pitched whine.
The song (as well as "Girl, I'm Out To Get You") was from Boyce & Hart's A & M album, "Test Patterns", released around the time this episode aired {October, 1967}. Because they wrote songs for Screen Gems/Columbia Music [a unit of the parent company behind "JEANNIE"], they thought it would be great to feature them in an episode...as they did on "BEWITCHED", three years later.
Phil Specter is in JAIL !!!

The guy in the back playing guitar @ 1:17 looks like Rob Grill from the Grass Roots
eddo1983 1 year ago
@eddo1983 It probably was Grill since the Grass Roots were made up of sessions men like hm and that is what they probably used for this show.

That dude in the striped shirt, Tommy Boyce, took a one way ticket to Willoughby in 1994, meaning he offed himself.
