this version is great, but I prefer original, because this song is written for Mark, and it takes all from him. But Khan's version seems a little underperformed
Ahhhh... The United States. (In my opinion) The greatest country in the world. There was a string of bad musicians, but I think the US music industry will recover, and we also have some very good bands/musicians, and that's proven by bands like Kamelot!
@AryelTheSpirit I hate to say it but I wish they rerecorded all of Eternity and Dominion with Khan on vocals, I can't stand Mark Vanderbilt's voice on those albums. It's just so wrong for the Kamelot sound. I kinda wish he switched places with Roy cause he would have been a good fit for Conception's sound...... damn you hindsight!
Mark's voice was more suited for the Iron Maiden knock off band that they used to be, but Khan is just a better singer in every aspect. More control, range, talent in general.
It upsets me that they made such a drastic change in their latest album. Ghost opera changed a lot, but at the end of the day it still felt like good old Kamelot. PFTP just feels like something else altogether...and fairly depressing at that
@Guardianoftheblind11 I don't exactly agree, but I understand your point. Most of their albums have different styles... Karma feels to me like it has a fantasy-like, medieval theme... Epica and The Black Halo basically follows the theme of love, sorrow and betrayal. Ghost opera is a more... well, ghost like style. Poetry for the Poisoned has a clearly darker and more depressing style than the other albums, but i think it's still Kamelot, and very good. Black Halo is their best, though.
I haven't heard the original because I know I would hate it. The old singer makes me die a little every time I hear him. But this song is epic. I love the new Kamelot, but Khan's voice is much more...versatile in the older stuff. His voice is still amazing and he is still my favorite singer, but he can't hit the high notes that he hits in this song anymore.
Dominion was the first Kamelot CD I bought, so its very dear to me. Vanderbilt´s We Are Not Separate, is much better than Khan´s. I think Kamelot lost their unique sound after Siege Perilous. In their 3 first CD, they sounded like no one else, after that, they took an european sound. Don´t take it badly, because I love european metal bands, but Kamelot is not the same now, as it was with Wagner, Pavlicko and Vanderbilt. A matter of taste...
@michaelnight67 They definitely changed their style but I wouldn't say that they were more (or less) unique back then. They had and still have something that sets them apart from other bands in my oppinion.
I always think about Kamelot with Vanderbild as a different band and wonder how they might sounded today with their old lineup.
@michaelnight67 the first kamelot song I've ever listened was Forever, and I've become a big fan. I think khan is better than Mark. I like his SUPERBE voice. mark is a good singer too, but is for iron maden, metalica, Khan is more artistic, with a more powerfull voice...I love him
I like this song a lot, but it doesn't really suit Khan's voice.

They gotta record this one with the next singer again, that would be kinda cool :D

Khan is an interesting vocalist, but Mark sang sensually, mystically.

It's cruel to re-record this song with Khan.... do they want to make Mark depressed?
AryelTheSpirit 1 year ago
@AryelTheSpirit: A professional musician should get over it. If he can't be professional about it, his opinion is negligible.

@GrimaceDio Unfortunally, now we must wait for another singer, and hope he will be as good as Khan -.-"

Vanderbilt in Conception would have been the most disgusting act ever. I'm physically ill at the thought of that.

Mark Vanderbilt's was better. Come on guys! Mark fit the older, darker, primitive Kamelot - Roy Khan fit the newer, lighter, symphonic Kamelot

Mark's voice is too fucking whiny lol. It sounds like he's singing out of key all the time too, but it might just be the whiny voice. I don't know.

I love both versions. Mark Vanderbilt has a "strange" voice, but all of the musics he sang were extremely good.
But I do agree this is the best between both versions ^^
