I think there's a huge difference from Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band, from the real drums because I played drums for 3 years already, straight, and for Thanksgiving my cousins want to play Guitar Hero Metallica, when I played a song, I couldn't play because I was used to my drum set. On the other hand there's people that say "they're the same" they might be as in keeping rhythm, by all means it is I used it to learn, but you can't compare a game to the real thing.

I did nothing to my guitar hero drums but play them. They are way better then Rockband drums besides the reliability on the drums(the bass is fine though). 1 cymbal is messed up and my red drum is unresponsive and my green drum doesn't work. This is probably just my case though but I have rockband 2 drums and they lasted longer but the the bass pedal snapped in half but I took the bass pedal off of the broken guitar hero drum set and put the guts of the rockband bass pedal inside and it works.

Drummers are definitely the most important member of a band, especially if you listen to and play a lot of death metal, in death metal if the drummer fucks up, the song is done.

I mean a lot of people just view the drums as the backdrop for vocals and guitar; thats not my opinion but ive heard it from numerous others.

When listening to a song, if the guitarist hits a single wrong note, it's ok, the song keeps flowing, it doesn't throw anyone off guard, but if the drummer hits the bass drum at the wrong time, he fucks up the tempo of the whole song, and each other member has to catch up if they're not already too confused.

Im a drummer, so im not dissing drummers or anything, but drummers are difinitely not the most important part of the band, i consider drums a simple addition. In symphony orchetras you notice they have cymbols and drums, but no complicated beats. Drums simply make the beat. If you want more than that take up an instrument like guitar or piano.... BTW I also believe drums are the most fun and easiest instrument to play. I know people will rage for saying that, but thats what i believe.

@Grasshoppa065 I'm also a drummer, and I've played many different genres... what I've learned throughout the years is that, yes, drumming seems to be one of the easier instruments to pick up, but it is definitely one of the harder ones to master.

Also, I wouldn't say drums aren't important, the drummers have the most capability to screw a performance up simply because of the nature of the instrument
