Im very dissapointed in Nader and Mckinney over the fact that they would stoop so low as to ally theirselves with the likes of a right wing conservative libertarian like Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin from the crackpot constitutionalist party. They do not stand for the same issues and interests as Nader and Mckinney do aside from the war, and they dont even oppose the war for the same reasons. The left in the US is decimated right now. Mckinney and Nader need to wake up and build the left.

First off, Ron Paul would never consider himself a "liberal". He's always said he wants to carry on the real tradition of the republican party and conservatism.

Secondly, Ron Paul doesnt even intend on breaking down the walls of the two party party system. This should had been evident in the fact that he ran for his candidancy as a member of the REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!! How does that qualify as abstaining from the two party system??? Paul is just using this to advance his own crackpot views.

Ron Paul is a Fiscal Conservative, less so conservative on social issues. He represents the Traditional Platform of the Republican Party, thus he ran as Republican, he's tired of the NEOCONS and the democrats BOTH who vote for this War and Patriot Act. "Breaking down the walls of the two party system" That would take the people who are sick and tired of more of the same from both sides, one person (RP) couldn't do it. All "fiscal conservative" means is that he doesnt want to fund social services that benefit the poor. That why he talks about "balancing the budget" which is a code word for dismantling social services, which is why he wants to take away the department of education, as ridiculous as that sounds. Hes a fervent advocate of the Free Market. He pretty much stands in parallel with all of the same views that the republicans have been advancing for the past 40 years ever since Reagan.

Getting rid of the Dept. of Education doesn't mean getting rid of Education, Public Schools. He means getting rid of it Federally. I think you need to research that a little better. When you figure it out, you'll get it better. I can't fit it in here. Fiscal Cons. he wants to cut taxes & cuts spending particularly on these WARS and Empires & take care of our people. I think you misunderstood what he meant. He wants to break down a monopoly that the two parties have on political discourse... hence his endorsement of third parties. But he also wants his, yes, classical liberal agenda to be heard, whether he works within the Republican party or whether others work outside of it. There's two issues going on here: he wants to give representation to a broader field and he also wants to bring his opinions about the issues to the table.

I've tried to be reasonable and give him a chance (although I had vowed not to vote for him from the start because he is an unproven libertarian).
