I just got the same set up of gun scope and bi pod all I have gotten to shoot is 17gr V-max and the wind just killed their accuracy you ever had any experience with v-max
@FoXRIDER3361 Wind is a notorious problem for the light projectiles. My friend insists that 20gr rounds like Hornady XTP and some available from CCI (FMJ, Gamepoint) are more accurate. I think it's all in his head.
@lanesparks1 I just got the same set up of gun scope and bi pod all I have gotten to shoot is 17gr V-max and the wind just killed their accuracy you ever had any experience with v-max
im deciding if i should get this rifle. im probably going to, but i also wanted the scope, but iv herd its a crappy one. how has it worked for you? and how far are you shooting from? and is that the maximum zoom on your scope? please reply
@RECOILJUNKIE38 ahh yea cheers matey. Just got into a gun club the other day, for shooting rifles we are supposed to wear ear plugs but not safety glasses. What kind of shooting do you do?
im not sure is this a bb or a pellet gun? or does it accually shoot real bullets. with that little recoil i figured it was a bb gun, and with the such small caliber, but idk i watched another video of people shooting cans and there wasnt much left of them after just one shot, they flew. so yeah i was looking into buying one, but i just wanted to make sure.
i wana purches a .17 hmr and i wana spend around 200 bucks for the gun less is better. so what would yall recomend liek what brand and type and idk about a good scope for a scope i would spend around 30 anything will help
@Bowhunter82393 Well, for around 190, marlin makes a 17 with a bull barrel. sweet gun. And also look at savage. They make good gun also. And go on OpticsPlanet to check out scopes.
@Bowhunter82393 marlin makes good guns but i doubt you'll find one for less than 250 the 917vr and 917v are around that , and a $30 scope on a hmr is like having no scope at all $100 scope is great and they're reliable maybe a bushnell or a tasco and BSA make a nice ass scope made for the 17hmr bullet drop and everything
springer right?i had a highly moded .22 springer airgun that would kick more than my 10 gage shotgun.within 800 shots it broke 2 scopes then the stock, the trigger and finaly the receiver :P
100 yds i shot dime sized (.5 moa) groups 4 out of five times. I shot 1 MOA at 200 yds 3 out of 5 times. The temp was 41 and wind was mostly calm at 3-5 mph. Based on these results i can expect to shoot 3-6 inch spread at 400 yds. I would trust it up to 225 yds on 45 lbs game but not an inch more. It is accurate enough to place one in the ear canal at 225 yds. For the dollar you absolutely will not beat it. Its accuracy and all around feel is unmatched in the affordable market.
i have a mossberg model 817 .17 hmr with a crappy cheap no branded scope. would anyone recomend a Leupold vx-ii 4-12x50mm to take over the shit scope?
damn can't wait till i can put my scope on and kill some squirls. i've had that same gun for almost a year and a half and still haven't shot it. I have shot a 10/22 converted into a .17hmr and the peice of shit blew up in my face literaly. I guess auto loaders don't do good with .17 caliber
Matt Damon is an big time anti gun guy who supports victim disarmament. Matt only plays a good guy/tough freedom defender on TV. Real life? Liberal elitist. Great gun by the way...17hmr is very fast and hard hitting. I think it is comparable to a 22 mag. For varmints under 15 pounds it is good..any bigger, I'd bring more gun. Good video.
Nice vid. Which harris bipod did you install? I was told that one may have to re-enforce the synthetic stock before installing. Because the synthetic is weaker than wooden stocks.
This is the most common question I receive and I can't for the life of me remember which bipod I purchased. I just walked in and picked it up. As for re-enforcement, none is necessary. The stock is quite strong and already comes with swivel studs installed so just clamp on the bipod and you're good to go.

the .17 hmr will shoot groups of 1moa and less @ 100 yards with 17 grain hornady v-max bullets, a .22 wmr will do 1.5 inch groups sometimes less with a equivalent round, and the regular .22LR really isnt worth mentioning in comparison with these.
a regular .22LR with standard ammunition will not shoot 1/2 inch groups @ 100 yards, now if you get a higher end .22 with match grade ammo then possibly ya. My .17hmr will easily shoot 1/4 inch groups @ 100 yards, and can hit tacks 9 outta 10 times(with no wind), no .22 LR or .22 wmr will do that, i know because i own all 3.
thelucasob - More ompff? Ive taken my 17hmr to the range dozens of times its fun to shoot i guess you might need to shoot a bigger gun to compensate for something that might not be so big?
Very true but theres absolutley nothing wrong about taking them to the range hell i see them all the time, Its nice to be able to stay at the range longer while your shooting less expensive ammo
Wow, there's alot more recoil in the lighter synthic version. It's best to buy the BV, BVSS or GV and just paint the stock charcoal-black. My BVSS does 3.5 inch groups at 400 yards with cheap federal ammo.

I was about to comment on the trigger as well seems like such a joy to shoot. Very crisp. How do you like the rifle? And how accurate do you feel it is in comparison to others that you have shot?

how accurate are .17 hmr at around 100-200-300 yards? please respond im either getting this for some pest control, or im just going to get a little .22 lr cricket for some squirrels/coons please respond?
I haven't taken it to a range that goes beyond 100 yards, but its supposed to be very accurate out passed 200+ yards. At 100 on a really good/still day I can hit within 1/2"-1/4" of my target, and I'm a brand new shooter. Some people just prefer the 22 though, it's main attraction: Dirt cheap ammo.
I get all my ammo at midsouthshooterssupply on the internet. I've tested every brand they have for sale and nothing can compete with the accuracy of Hornady V-max. It's $9.99/box and that's the cheapest I've found it anywhere online or in store.
sweet i have the same gun (fvss) and was just shooting it the other day and with a little breeze and at 50 yards i was getting thru the same holes...can't wait to try at 100
Its accurate at 200 yards, should get at least MOA groups. However, since the bullet is so light, wind plays a huge factor. Don't go hunting on a windy day with the 17 HMR.
Cool video, nice work. May I sugest that you use those sand bags you have on the table and put one under the rear stock so your rifle can return to battery with more consistancy. When you set up your targets always use a level so when you line up the cross hairs they will be level with the earth, not the target holder. This will help take out some variables and you can work on your personal talent, that is small groups. Keep up the good shooting.
On a good day I can group an inch at 100 yards, but that's on a good day. The round seems particularly susceptible to wind as well as my aiming deficiencies.
the safety on mine switches from fire to safe very nicely, but going from safe to fire is gritty as hell...is yours similar?

I'm glad I have my own place to shoot, it would suck to have to go somewhere and shoot

I have the same gun, what kinda grouping are you getting with your gun?

On a good day I can group an inch at 100 yards, but that's on a good day. The round seems particularly susceptible to wind as well as my aiming deficiencies.
