  • the safety on mine switches from fire to safe very nicely, but going from safe to fire is gritty as hell...is yours similar?

  • @sudsy18 yes i have a savage 17hmr and going from safe to fire is not smooth at all

  • does the scope hold its zero when you adjust for farther targets then going back to "0"

  • i have the same one butt mine is black (all black even the barlle)

  • cool video. next time show us your grouping .

  • is this a semi auto?

  • @HONDA5863 nop it is bolt action

  • @HONDA5863 you can clearly see a bolt.

  • Los Altos Gun Club...sweet.

  • I just got the same set up of gun scope and bi pod all I have gotten to shoot is 17gr V-max and the wind just killed their accuracy you ever had any experience with v-max

  • @FoXRIDER3361 Wind is a notorious problem for the light projectiles. My friend insists that 20gr rounds like Hornady XTP and some available from CCI (FMJ, Gamepoint) are more accurate. I think it's all in his head.

  • I have the same gun and shoot Hornady Varmint Express and can shoot a target at 200 yards without compensation. Can you do the same?

  • @lanesparks1 I just got the same set up of gun scope and bi pod all I have gotten to shoot is 17gr V-max and the wind just killed their accuracy you ever had any experience with v-max

  • i have the same gun except wooden and left-handed.

  • @mitch11atv So you have the same barrel...

  • @thisguy8383 hahahah exactly!

  • im deciding if i should get this rifle. im probably going to, but i also wanted the scope, but iv herd its a crappy one. how has it worked for you? and how far are you shooting from? and is that the maximum zoom on your scope? please reply

  • whats the MAX range this thing can shoot a paper plate at?

  • hey man, nice vid. but whats with the safety glasses and the ear muffs. ???

i never use either unless shooting centre fire...am i damaging my ears? please reply = )

  • @StunnedMutha

safety glasses and noise suppressions is required at many gun ranges regardless of the type or calibre of rifle or pistol being fired.

  • @RECOILJUNKIE38 ahh yea cheers matey. Just got into a gun club the other day, for shooting rifles we are supposed to wear ear plugs but not safety glasses. What kind of shooting do you do?

  • @StunnedMutha

I field test firearms and perform ballistic studies with high speed projectiles against hard targets.

  • @RECOILJUNKIE38 like as a career? thats pretty sweet ;)

  • i got the same setup, and i love my .17 it drops bunnies like stones

  • Does anyone use winchester rounds in the 17hmr ?????

  • @joedobbs100 noooo, winchester .17hmr rounds-ewwwww

  • why do savage guns have weird triggers?

  • @FrankieJames7 it's a safety device it's call the accu trigger

  • i love my HMR.. ever shot prarie dogs with it?

  • is that a heavy barrel?

  • is that a heavy barrel?

  • im not sure is this a bb or a pellet gun? or does it accually shoot real bullets. with that little recoil i figured it was a bb gun, and with the such small caliber, but idk i watched another video of people shooting cans and there wasnt much left of them after just one shot, they flew. so yeah i was looking into buying one, but i just wanted to make sure.

  • see my savage 93r17 did not come with swivel studs installed, and i really want a bipod on it any suggestions?

  • That's it?!

  • is the .17 smaller than a .22?

  • @tinyjoker666 ya but it has a little mor kick

  • @ATGPoker Yep. Cuz the cartridge is a little bigger than the .22.

  • @TheMetalApocalipse YES AND TWICE AS POWERFULL AND CAN SHOOT TWICE AS FAR. BUT IS 10 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE. excuse the cap locks

  • wow, geeky loser version of matt damon!

  • hello matt damon loool where is this range

  • haha it's matt damon/ jason bourne!

  • lol.. was that a remix at 1:04?

  • That thing as like no kick back or in other words recoil i like it

  • the guy looks like jason bourne in those bourne identity movies

  • i wana purches a .17 hmr and i wana spend around 200 bucks for the gun less is better. so what would yall recomend liek what brand and type and idk about a good scope for a scope i would spend around 30 anything will help

  • @Bowhunter82393 Well, for around 190, marlin makes a 17 with a bull barrel. sweet gun. And also look at savage. They make good gun also. And go on OpticsPlanet to check out scopes.

  • @thesloth16 thanks

  • @Bowhunter82393 marlin makes good guns but i doubt you'll find one for less than 250 the 917vr and 917v are around that , and a $30 scope on a hmr is like having no scope at all $100 scope is great and they're reliable maybe a bushnell or a tasco and BSA make a nice ass scope made for the 17hmr bullet drop and everything

  • I personally would say this cal. is one of the best in all cals. i would take thise to nearly any hunting situation...

  • I got a 4 squirrel collateral on ground squirels:)

  • the .17hmr is an awsome lil catraige nice rifle

  • Same make same model just 22 LR

  • lol wow, more recoil in my air rifle lol

  • springer right?i had a highly moded .22 springer airgun that would kick more than my 10 gage shotgun.within 800 shots it broke 2 scopes then the stock, the trigger and finaly the receiver :P

  • 100 yds i shot dime sized (.5 moa) groups 4 out of five times. I shot 1 MOA at 200 yds 3 out of 5 times. The temp was 41 and wind was mostly calm at 3-5 mph. Based on these results i can expect to shoot 3-6 inch spread at 400 yds. I would trust it up to 225 yds on 45 lbs game but not an inch more. It is accurate enough to place one in the ear canal at 225 yds. For the dollar you absolutely will not beat it. Its accuracy and all around feel is unmatched in the affordable market.

  • hey im thinking about trading the same gun in but just for a .22 cal what yal think about it???

  • Thats a nice gun. Where did you get it?

  • i been looking at this gun. how much did you give for it? if you don't mind me asking

  • were did you get the bipod?

  • compared to all the other guns the 17hmr sounded pitiful. but still has enough punch to take out a small animal

  • which is exactly what its for,lol

  • @fishreaper ive seen people kill a boar wit a pellet gun u can kill anything if u hit it in the right spot

  • i just got mine it cost me 300 dollars it a nice gun trust me shoots up to 150 yards

  • damn can't wait till i can put my scope on and kill some squirls. i've had that same gun for almost a year and a half and still haven't shot it. I have shot a 10/22 converted into a .17hmr and the peice of shit blew up in my face literaly. I guess auto loaders don't do good with .17 caliber

  • nice setup

  • how much did the gun cost

  • Is that Matt Damon??????

  • Matt Damon is an big time anti gun guy who supports victim disarmament. Matt only plays a good guy/tough freedom defender on TV. Real life? Liberal elitist. Great gun by the way...17hmr is very fast and hard hitting. I think it is comparable to a 22 mag. For varmints under 15 pounds it is good..any bigger, I'd bring more gun. Good video.

  • Nice vid. Which harris bipod did you install? I was told that one may have to re-enforce the synthetic stock before installing. Because the synthetic is weaker than wooden stocks.

  • This is the most common question I receive and I can't for the life of me remember which bipod I purchased. I just walked in and picked it up. As for re-enforcement, none is necessary. The stock is quite strong and already comes with swivel studs installed so just clamp on the bipod and you're good to go.

  • @yevinketman

How hard do these things kick? your shoulder mustve been hurting after this. I could see the recoil

  • @yevinketman How do you like that scope? Does it zoom in pretty far?

  • how many yards is that?

  • 100

  • awesome video and editing very pro like. I have this rifle its awesome

  • Thank you. I don't know about pro, but I know that I can't stand videos that make you wait forever to get to the point, and that tends to be a common characteristic of shooting videos so I do my best to edit in such a way that my videos move at a quick pace.

  • I'm using a BSA sweet 17 3-12x40. It's a great little inexpensive scope with which I've come to be able to hit a dime at 100 yards.

  • a great fuck-around gun...

but the .17 rounds cost so much more than the .22 round equivelent to this gun

  • This is true but the .22lr is really only equivalent in size, not performance. I wanted a very accurate round that I could still afford to shoot. For my needs it's perfect.

  • yea, i see what ur saying, because from what ive heard the 17hmr has double the accuracy of the .22lr

  • the .17 hmr will shoot groups of 1moa and less @ 100 yards with 17 grain hornady v-max bullets, a .22 wmr will do 1.5 inch groups sometimes less with a equivalent round, and the regular .22LR really isnt worth mentioning in comparison with these.

  • My Marlin .22 wmr will shoot 1/2 MOA sized groups @ 100 yards.

There are .22 lr's out there that will do the same. I'm not sure I understand your comment.

  • a regular .22LR with standard ammunition will not shoot 1/2 inch groups @ 100 yards, now if you get a higher end .22 with match grade ammo then possibly ya. My .17hmr will easily shoot 1/4 inch groups @ 100 yards, and can hit tacks 9 outta 10 times(with no wind), no .22 LR or .22 wmr will do that, i know because i own all 3.

  • Okay

  • lol

  • i dont wear panties so i dont waste time bickering about guns from the kids menu!

  • Excellent porn angle at 0:36!

  • check out the video response i posted of a .22 testing the hollow point.

  • very nice rifle

  • i bet the 17 hmr is good around the yard but at a range u need a lil more ompff

  • thelucasob - More ompff? Ive taken my 17hmr to the range dozens of times its fun to shoot i guess you might need to shoot a bigger gun to compensate for something that might not be so big?

  • i kno what you mean but in all reality its a rimfire

  • Very true but theres absolutley nothing wrong about taking them to the range hell i see them all the time, Its nice to be able to stay at the range longer while your shooting less expensive ammo

  • true point made

  • Comment removed

  • whats a good scope for the GV model anyone?

  • Wow, there's alot more recoil in the lighter synthic version. It's best to buy the BV, BVSS or GV and just paint the stock charcoal-black. My BVSS does 3.5 inch groups at 400 yards with cheap federal ammo.

  • what bipod are u using? i have the same gun PLZ RESPOND

  • Harris

  • thanks but wich one?

  • mine has a thumb-through stock

  • why make a bullet smaller than a .22? what purpose is it for?

  • better velocity, faster bullet and its quieter

  • yes and yes, but it's actually a lot louder.

  • good vid

  • I have the savage .17 BTV, they have it at dick's right now for about 400, scope and all. I love it. Virtually no recoil, and accurate as hell

  • im selling my like new savage arms 111 .30-06 its on gunbroker its comes with a 160.00 scope, bipod and recoil stock pad. the guns worth well over 600. i paid 420 for just the gun it's self. let me know if anyones interested i can send you the link

  • hey...can you send me that link? I'm looking for a 111 in .30-06

  • no problem. check your messages

  • I have the same gun in .22 mag, I chose the heavier bullet over the faster because it's always windy here, lol. They're awesome guns, gotta love the Savage fv series. Have fun shootin' !

  • how much doest this rifle cost?

  • i love low caliber rifles but the only problem is the recoil and a lot higher sound

  • lol rimfire rifles don't have any noticable recoil. Maybe a slight poke of the finger LOL

  • yeah its true

  • ye ders no recoil from dem but in dis vid it looks like ders a lot well a bit

  • Well the only reason there looks to be recoil is because he's holding the gun with one hand rested probably not holding it very tightly..so yeah

  • mayb but ani time i shot 1 i neva felt a thn.

  • I was about to comment on the trigger as well seems like such a joy to shoot. Very crisp. How do you like the rifle? And how accurate do you feel it is in comparison to others that you have shot?

  • I love the rifle very happy with it. I'm sorry I can't offer a comparison to other rifles because I'm a new shooter and this is the only rifle I have any experience with to speak of. I did my research before I bought it though, and everyone I've heard from is very impressed by these guns.

  • whats so good about the accu trigger. what does it do exactly?

  • its so it dosnt suprise you when you go to pull the trigger and make you jerk, prepares you for the fireing

  • Extremely light trigger pull

  • how accurate are .17 hmr at around 100-200-300 yards? please respond im either getting this for some pest control, or im just going to get a little .22 lr cricket for some squirrels/coons please respond?

  • I haven't taken it to a range that goes beyond 100 yards, but its supposed to be very accurate out passed 200+ yards. At 100 on a really good/still day I can hit within 1/2"-1/4" of my target, and I'm a brand new shooter. Some people just prefer the 22 though, it's main attraction: Dirt cheap ammo.

  • yeah i figured so....especially with a nice gun like a savage or a marlin...excellent bolt action rifles

  • whats the ammo generally cost for these .17's?

  • I get all my ammo at midsouthshooterssupply on the internet. I've tested every brand they have for sale and nothing can compete with the accuracy of Hornady V-max. It's $9.99/box and that's the cheapest I've found it anywhere online or in store.

  • sweet i have the same gun (fvss) and was just shooting it the other day and with a little breeze and at 50 yards i was getting thru the same holes...can't wait to try at 100

  • Sweet video and rifle man! Nice steady shooting come check out my vids of my heavy barreled marlin 917V in 17HMR sometime!

  • this guy looks like matt damon XD this guy is probably cool but matt damon is a liberal asshole

  • how does it shoot at 200 yards?

  • Its accurate at 200 yards, should get at least MOA groups. However, since the bullet is so light, wind plays a huge factor. Don't go hunting on a windy day with the 17 HMR.

  • i have the same gun but mine is a wooden left handed model

  • thats what i have a savage left hand model with the wood stalk and accu trigger...

  • Where'd you get the bipod for your gun?

  • Cool video, nice work. May I sugest that you use those sand bags you have on the table and put one under the rear stock so your rifle can return to battery with more consistancy. When you set up your targets always use a level so when you line up the cross hairs they will be level with the earth, not the target holder. This will help take out some variables and you can work on your personal talent, that is small groups. Keep up the good shooting.

  • Thank's for the suggestions, I'll definitely give that a try.

  • Great camera work! Also good to see young people using eye and ear protection. Nice video.

  • I'm glad I have my own place to shoot, it would suck to have to go somewhere and shoot

  • I have the same gun, what kinda grouping are you getting with your gun?

  • On a good day I can group an inch at 100 yards, but that's on a good day. The round seems particularly susceptible to wind as well as my aiming deficiencies.

  • nice gun, what size is your bipod?
