More ram usually means lower loading times. yea get the 3 gb ram one, because i recently upgraded mine and load up times are alot faster. last time i checked i think there is a solid state drive for it, but externally not internal.

@xXxUrbanNinjaxXx yeah theres one on ebay with 3gb ram. i just got a cheap desktop from there with 8gbram and quad core i5 and a 7200rpm 2tb wd hdd. so besides it being a single core atom 280, do you really think the added DDR3 RAM will be enough? Windows 7 premium has aeropeek, multitasking, im planning to take it to school boot it out of hibernation and resume work as quickly as possible. will i be able to install an SSD on this netbook or any netbook for that matter?

The first thing I did with My Mini 311 1000NR was upgrade to 3GB of Ram and now I can play these Games at low to Medium settings

HALO, Grand Theft Auto III, GTA VC, GTA SA, Portal, Half Life 2 (All Versions i.e. EP1 & EP2), COD4, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Etc...

if you buy it from the website for an added fee you can do some upgrades after you get it there is no upgradeing but many computer companys do that like dell, hp, apple, ect. if you get a computer online it goes to a page where you select what you want lots of times it raises the price though.

I love how they only show the tutorial level. Imagine all the other levels when your being overrun with sworm after sworm after sworm of enimies. It would probably be pretty laggy and choppy during those sequences.

no...the deal isnt goign that way...i've bought an hp 311 and i play cod4 on low settings, 4x alliasing, it only takes a litlle bit longer to load the levels, but its pretty smooth...and if you have 3gb ram( now i've only 1gb) it would be better..

Hint: try to link via an hdmi cable to an LCD...sweet...;)

evilmagic, exactly! Although this isn't the same 8-series nvidia cheaps that had serious overheating problems, HP's attempt to cool the chip was outright pathetic. On top of that, you your laptop overheated after their "extended" warranty...their answer was "too bad" buy another computer or shell out $300+. However the ion is based on the 9400m which hasn't reported a lot of heat problems *as far as I kno. Nonetheless I am still nervous w/ my last HP/nVidia experience.

I want this netbook but I swore never to go back to HP with the DISASTER for the dv2300 series' nvidia chips overheating. I would like some first-hand confirmation if the netbook runs hot...I can't believe I might go back to HP after they pulled that overheating crap (not necessarily their fault [nvdia's mainly] but their customer service was TERRIBLE). Design/price factor is perfect because Lenovo and Samsung netbooks are in $600 range. I digress, please let me know about the running temp.

I was waiting Ion netbooks from long time!

I own a Compaq Mini 700 and I probably sell it to buy a Nvidia Ion based netbook.

I will use it for work and for free time, and the chance of playing 3d intensive games (even if in low detail) its pretty nice, because me and friend usually organize lan parties and carrying arround a Lian Li V1200 desktop case plus monitor its absolutely pain.

I read the price will be 349€ in Europe.Probably I will wait till it fall down to 300€ ;-)

I didnt know that a netbook its moddable to accept a chipset (because ION its a chipset, not a GPU).

So you should modify the motherboard, desoldering the old chipset and soldering the new chipset.
