  • i feel the same bout time n i told this to my friends n they said i am nuts to say this, but till does go slower in india n some of them who agree with me say this is how it is in hotter nations, a day seems so long n u cant see that even on a summer day in USA

  • hey Dawn you're really cute! :)

  • this is a very insightful vlog. thank you. i've heard from many travelers that India is a truly life changing experience, and it was really cool how you described it. i also love dreams. they can tell us so much about our inner being. your experience of time reminds me of the constructs of chronos and kairos. thank you again for sharing your self so honestly. :)

    blessings and love,

    amy

  • hi DawnAkemi, i just watched ur video clip on (TITANIC - Netflix Greatest Kiss ) lolz its so funny.. great clips...

  • hi,DawnAkemi . ur clips on chennai was really gd and cute. hoping to see more of the clips... guess ur mve is out rite???? did ya upload the mve?? u gt d link?

  • I enjoyed watching all of your videos. Thank you so much for posting these. I am from India and going there end of this year. I havent been there for 11 years. When is your movie coming out?

  • I like what you said about going through things that can cause an unbalancing. i think of uncertainty, and how we like security in the familar. I've always have been a balancetype person. Now, as i move along the journey, i too am seeing the value of of uncertainty, and the newness it can bring. Glad You had such interesting trip...

  • Thank you, Michael. I think we do want security, but it's like worshiping a false god. Every choice we make has elements of insecurity and risk, the chance for the unexpected. In a way, it's freeing to realize this, cause the need for security can also be a prison, wherein the choice may feel "safe" but there are trade-offs that induce discontent. I think it's best to choose happiness cause even if I don't achieve its peak, at least I can say I tried. Thanks again! It was an amazing trip.

  • Thanks so much for your lovely comment. I am glad you enjoyed my musings. :-)

  • Thanks, Jim! Perhaps you should write that book. I'm not familiar with the term "Kia." However, I do ponder the Hindu's concept of "Maya" and the many illusions set up by social and cultural dogma. These illusions rule us, if we allow them. And how within us lies a deeper knowingness that we must learn to tap into by undoing conditioning and false belief systems (the "false gods" so to speak). We build walls where we need bridges. Thanks for your comments... :-)

  • you are a very beautiful woman. reminds me of my 6th wife who left me for another woman. :-(

  • Thank you for your kind compliment... and for watching. I'm terribly sorry about your 6th wife.

  • Dawn, your name evokes new beginnings and your radiance delivers with it the light of that new day. Your sincerity shines brilliantly through the portals of your soul revealing not only your own goodness but of the Godness in all~

Thank you for these moments and for your Being. Namaste'

    G

  • Thank you, Gregory, for such a beautifully lyrical comment. I am moved that you saw so deeply into what I shared. Certainly, your own soul sparkles with such goodness by way of affirmation and recognition. You brightened my day... thank you again.

  • Wow! Glad your trip to India yielded such profound self-transformation. Travel could be a great positive to discerning people like you***** :^)

  • Travel is amazing! Immersing oneself in another culture, even briefly, allows one to see how different we are and how we are all the same. More importantly, it expands my own sense of possibility. I guess one of the tricks is to maintain that sense when returning to daily life.

I do believe life is about self-transformation. I love the very trite: The only constant in life is change. I want to keep growing and learning... especially while traveling.

Thanks so much for stopping by... :-)

  • hey u that was a good one

  • Thanks so much, ZEK... I'm grateful and glad you enjoyed my introspective ruminations about my Indian journey. It was quite a trip! :-)

  • What a treat! And what a wonderful way to talk about Spirit (not just the bear, to be sure). I love the way you process change: You should be the one running as the Change Candidate. And the stuff about Time: so profound, so true. Thanks for letting me in on how you see the world; it helps to know that someone else sees the world as an opportunity to See. (Did you ever happen across a short story by Raymond Carver called "Cathedral"?)

    So, again--thank you.

    Roy

  • Thank you, Roy! Those are some high compliments. It would be great if one of the Presidential candidates really understood what "change" meant... :-) I guess I see growth and change are elemental to life experience... and happiness. Though it can be difficult too... and take time. Life is filled with dualities like that. I enjoy Raymond Carver and need to look up "Cathedral." Your comment meant a lot... thanks again for stopping by... :-)

  • Wow, I saw your channel icon in someone's friends group and you're pretty.

  • Why thank you for that very sweet compliment! It made my day... :-)

  • I only said it because it's true ;-]

  • Your very welcome Dawn the chemistry happens and like water to salt goes to destiny! I made a comment about you to a friend when i saw your words'wow signs of intelligent life on earth' they said 'is it whales' Ha' now i see you have the whale people friends here to and may have a trip for your little guide!

Grampa use to say 'you are what you think'

So fine to not be hatred or ignorence,to become Happiness, our Natural way were all born with,so cruely treated.Love, always room

    for more.Thanks

  • Wow... I love that your friend thought of whales with regard to me... that is so fascinating. Whales and dolphins, and the ocean in general, has a special resonance for me. And, yes, the whale people are my friends... Spirit would love a trip to visit whales. Your comment makes me believe in prescience. Thank you again, Mark, for your kind, loving attention. And thank you to your friend! :-)

  • Realy good Dawn! Did you think i forgot you,

sorry so long..Thats very perceptive how we can leave some baggage behind and take what we need onward with intuitive thought.Yes break through the concrete and matterial to pure spontainious mind, look forward to seeing more! Thanks

  • Thank you for visiting again, Mark! Yes, "baggage" is a marvelous bit of imagery. I find for myself, in so many cases, that baggage has to be let go for one to connect more deeply to intuitions and awareness, and to what is worth living for in life: love and connection. So many people let anger and bitterness stand in their way. Also dogmatic thinking. It makes me sad.

Thanks again for your thought provoking comment!!! :-)

  • cool 5*

  • Thanks so much for watching... I'm glad you enjoyed it... :-)

  • I enjoyed this vlog.

I'll make time for India, soon.

  • Thank you, Clobber!!! I hope you make it to India... it's a terrific experience, really mind expanding... :-)

  • Yes, indeed, constant change and unknown outcomes. Sometimes timing is everything, and the timing of this thoughtfully deep and positive conversation is very meaningful for me. The messengers in life... they come in all forms... even on the internet... :-) I don't have much to add to all this right now except to say thank you, Wally. :-)

  • I don't know, Wally. I've been called courageous and fearless, but I don't think of myself in such lofty terms. I guess I accept that change and growth are a part of life. Also, I have so little tolerance for my personal misery that I will do anything to assuage it, even change and grow. :-)

  • Wow, Wally, now I am totally flattered... thank you. I so hope you travel to India, an incredibly sensual experience... where a primordial resonance lingers, and voices from antiquity still whisper in the sultry air. You are sharp to note my Jungian influences, as he's important to my personal therapy. A physical touchstone, my Spirit bear is my own "inner archetype", who's very young and very wounded... a creative, artistic, intuitive voice, once repressed, who holds my personal power. :-)

  • I'm still noticing reverberations from that trip. It was a very full experience. Thank you so much, Wally, for your thoughtful comment... :-)

  • Hi Louie!! That's all fascinating. Kerala is so very beautiful, just amazing. I really loved it there, would love to see the places you mentioned.

Thanks for checking out my improv and stand-up too! Your comments are a quite charming!

    :-)

  • Thank you so much! Hopefully I'll see ya over at Wannabe's site! :-)

  • I saw your icon on a friend's Channel and clicked into this video, as I have travelled a lot but not made it to India yet! So, hello!:)

I agree with you on the symbolism of 'spirit left behind' and like how you express your shift in perspective.

I think it is great, as you say, to 'shake yourself up a little' in life with new experiences etc...helps us to keep growing and reach towards all we can be :)

    Nice to meet you!

    Sunbeam :)

  • Thank you very much, Sunbeam! I hope you make it to India one day... I'm sure you'll find it quite a satisfying adventure. I really enjoy how you summarize my thoughts. It's a great pleasure to meet you! Thank you for stopping by...

    :-)

  • Now that you mention it, EmC, we did enjoy a variety of Indian whiskeys in India... they were quite tasty. I wish I could say they were responsible for my Spirit dreams, but, alas, I enjoy my whiskey here in the States, and don't always have recurring dreams quite like those... :-)

As to change, why I'm growing rather used to that... it's when things stay constant that I start to worry!

Thanks for your fun and funny comment... :-)

  • We must break through the concrete to see the real America.

  • Thank you for your evocative comment, Bill!!! We certainly have erected walls and boxes for ourselves to live in that prevent us from seeing, thinking, or feeling beyond them. Hopefully, the windows that do exist provide glimpses into deeper realities so we can break through the concrete.

Thank you for stopping by... :-)

  • You are very interesting and glad you shared! My grandma made a quilt. I have a lot of them from older generations of family.

  • How luck for you, Barberelli, to have vintage, heritage quilts... I'll bet their amazing. I cherish my Auntie's quilts. Thank you for watching and for your sweet comment... :-)

  • Metamorphosis of a teddy. Scary.

    Nurture your inner bear.

  • It's true... metamorphosis... scary. Change, in general... scary. And I take your advice to heart. Thank you, Linda! :-)

  • Love your analogy of the trip allowing you to shed layers.

It sounds like you really experienced a lot of personal growth on the trip.

  • Yes, indeed, shedding layers... even though it's almost 3 months since I've come back, I'm still processing my experiences in India. There were many discoveries made both during the trip and upon my return. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts on my thoughts... ;-)

  • Thanks for sharing.

Whenever I write a story well, I feel I leave a part of myself in the story. The same when I make a quilt by hand. You helped create a film in India. Perhaps there's now a part of you in the film.

You also went on a journey. Wisdom is taking something from the journey back with you, not a souvenir from a store, but something more precious within you. It sounds like you had this happen too.

    Again, thanks for sharing. :)

  • Thank you for your very thoughtful comment! It sounds like you have the soul of an artist, putting yourself into your work. That's wonderful. It's marvelous that you quilt, love handmade quilts (have a couple from my Auntie)... have wanted to learn to quilt myself. When we craft for others (whether it be cooking or quilting or a handmade card) it is a gift of love. I also have a passion for journeys and their opportunities for expanding my mind and heart. Thanks again!!! :-)

  • Just couldn't resist being the View that threw this over the 1,000 mark... or hearing you wrestle with your nightmares and your dreams. You have a knack for giving personal revelations that strike a universal note... one day I'd love to see you do a one-woman show!

  • Thank you for taking my views to 1000, Dave! I'm not sure about a one-woman show (honestly, I like sharing the stage... like the interaction with another actor/character), but I do put my personal revelations into the stories I write.

    :-)

  • What kind of stories do you write, Dawn? Are you published?

  • No... not yet... ;-) I'm putting some finishing polish on a story I'm entering into a short story contest. Please keep your fingers crossed... :-)

  • I'll keep them crossed. The first is always the hardest. I have a poster someone gave me that reads "Rejection slips: God's way of saying you're day job isn't THAT bad, is it?" LOL But I wish you the best. Experience helps your writing and you've had that. :)

  • Your very interesting!

  • Why, thank you very much, IrishGirlieGirl... that makes me feel appreciated... :-)

  • Thank you, Desh, for your kind observation... it made me feel all warm and fuzzy and appreciated.

  • Our most kind regards to Spirit Bear!

    Love~Trish, Wally, Steve & Mark~

Spirit Bear goes everywhere, we just get to stay at home with these rascally whales;-} Can we go to India too?

  • Thank you Trish, Wally, Steve, and Mark!! Big hugs to you all!

It is my sincerest wish that Spirit Bear journey on one of your expeditions. Will have to save my pennies... but I've always believed-- where there's a will, there's a way. I also hope you make it to India... I'm sure you'll have your own amazing experiences there. We live in a big, diverse world, though it does seem to shrink daily... ;-)

  • Dawn - Great vlog, and I can't believe I saw you twice in one weekend and didn't ask you about India! Doh! Hope you can make it to a girl's night soon. :)

  • Shucks Liz, thanks! And I was glad to see you twice in one weekend... it was a rather overwhelming weekend of whirling social activity, so I can see why India didn't make it into the conversation. There will be other opportunities! I'm certain there is a girls' night in my near future... ;-)

  • Sounds like you gained a much broader perspective on things. As for your dreams, learn not to fear them - I have some really bizarre ones and I've learned to enjoy them.

As for change, it indeed can be good for you - but cash can sure get you a lot more. ;-)

  • Hi Euchre!! Yes, indeed, India had many lessons to offer, assimilate, and grow from. Thank you for your insights on dreams... I agree. I think I need to learn to separate my anxieties from my dreams, which is to say, in general, I need to take power away from my anxieties.

As I ingest life's lesson, I sometimes find myself craving more bread... but then, I should be careful what I wish for, too much of a good thing can give me indigestion!

    (you clever, punny man) :-D

  • Hi Monica! Very cool observation about change. I've learned, sometimes the hard way, that the pain from *not* growing and *not* changing is greater than accepting and allowing for change. That fighting change can make things worse. And I agree, it is truly scary. Thank you for your insightful and kind comment!!! :-)

  • most interesting.

  • Why, thank you kindly!!! I spoke from my heart.

    ;-)

  • Dang- you're back from India and I decided to delay my move to L.A. Soon, though. Someday, we should talk about professional collaborations... ;)

In the meantime, welcome back! I enjoyed watching your adventures.

  • Shucks, Courtney... here I was hoping you'd be giving me your hollywood contact info. Well, soon enough... ;-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed watching my adventures... thanks so much!!

  • My understanding is that dreams are each of our brain's attempts to reorganize subtle memories of elements(light tones, objects, etc) with new memories while trying to make sense of it.

I've had reoccurring dreams of specific places I've never been too & I'm still not certain what it means.

Each person remembers something in a different way.

  • Thanks for your interesting insights, Bennet. I'm no expert on dream analysis. I agree that interpreting dreams is very specific to the individual. I think they are also symbolic. I'm a big fan of Carl Jung and his theories about the collective unconscious and archetypes... he has alot to say about dream analysis.

Thanks so much for stopping by... ;-)

  • Thank you Julie!!! You are a very insightful young lady and your comments are a delight. It's true about so many worlds... many times this can be seen even in one country. May you have many indescribable trips in your bright future!!!

    ;-)

  • your interesting!

  • Thank you so much David! I appreciate you watching my little vlog... ;-)

  • Dearest Dawn,

I got a little lump in my throat watching you and hearing you talk so openly about your dreams, your fears, and your ongoing inner transformation. Perhaps it's because I feel like I know you so well.... I feel that even as revealing as this vlog seems, there is so much more happening with you and your beautiful spirit.

We can only see the tip of your iceberg.

  • Oh my darling Cici... you are always so good to me... you bring a lump to my throat. Thank you for watching and for your wonderful commment.

  • Golly... I'm still getting some honors... thank you, my friends, for watching...

  • Your insights were very interesting Dawn. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks so much, sherbetgirl... I sure appreciate your comment!!! ;-)

  • 5☆5☆5☆5☆5☆tars from: smi-ren-ger

  • Thanks so much smirenger!!! ;-)

  • Hi Dawn, I am so glad Spirit made it back safe and sound and in one piece, you too...I think it is only natural that every time you take a trip that enlightens you, you leave a little piece of your heart behind..

Living in the English countryside, life is pretty slow paced, and time does stand still sometimes, the hustle and bustle of a big city would be a nightmare to me.

Thank you for sharing you thoughts, and your beautiful self with us, I look forward to more. Take care.

  • Thank you Sweet Nikki!! It's true that any experience has something to offer and takes something away... I guess that's why I am so bitten by the travel bug!!! ;-)

I would love to visit your Engish countryside. I have a big interest in your country and your history.

    Your perspective is wonderful, Nikki.

  • Thank you, Lou! I grew up in Hawaii which I've always felt has a kinship with Puerto Rico. Things slow down in Hawaii too, but not like India. I spent a great deal of time on the East Coast... I know how fast time moves there... my own walking pace speeded up living in Washington DC. I'm looking forward to your Puerto Rico vids. Thanks for watching!!!

    ;-)

  • That's wonderful, Florencia! Our Spirits are important!

Thank you for watching my musings.. ;-)

    Thank you to my friends!!!!

  • You've done better than I could, Dawn. I'm still struggling to interpret all the things that changed within...

Sure is ironic that we were hanging with a rational, educated, largely non-religious bunch of Indian people, yet had a mystical-spiritual experience anyway. You brought it with you: you and your dreams, you and your tarot, you and your insights... I was lucky to have the chance to plug into that energy.

  • By the way, I do have Spirit in the corner of some of our shots. It's just unfortunate he missed out on making the vlogs!

  • I hope I get to see some of those shots!

Spirit still stares at you where ever you move... :-D

  • Dawn: "Spirit still stares at you where ever you move... :-D"

I can believe it. And can feel it.

  • Hmmmm... I don't know that I announced "interpreting" anything... I just know something has changed. I think understanding is in my future... I do welcome the shift in perspective... such are the gifts of life. Perhaps understanding will be there for you. Maybe. :-D

You definitely had your own energy to offer in our mystical-spiritual experience... :-D

    Thanks for watching my vlog!

  • Another great vlog! Looks like you gained a lot from your experience and that's always a good thing. Interesting about the dreams. I watched most of your India videos. They were all fascinating. The "eating and drinking" video made me hungry for some curry, which is one of my favorite spices = )

  • Thank you Paul!!! Were it not for you, I'd still be wringing my hands wondering if I had anything to say in a vlog... ;-)

India was a wonderful growth experience. I certainly recommend a visit. And the food was awesome!!!

Though I have to say that this hot pepper girl found the South Indian palate to be rather wimpy... I can win a hot pepper eating contest which would make the macho-est of men cry... ;-)

  • Thanks for the nice words and yes, I love hot peppers also = )

  • Bob Dylan once said "them ol' dreams are all in your head." But I really do believe that ones dreams can tell one something about oneself. This is a wonderful vlog, and so glad to see you're back home in America. Your videos from India were just amazing, thanks for sharing, and all the best :)

  • Thanks Steve... dreams are important, in my humble opinion... ;-)

I'm glad you enjoyed the videos... as with anything else, I had help and I couldn't have done the travel or the Indian vlogs without Shyam and Dave. Collaboration in the film business is everything!!! Same with theatre!!!

    ;-)

  • you should have gone to Paris...you would have had better dreams!

  • Paris would be wonderful... I even know some French!!! ;-)

    Thanks for stopping by... ;-)

  • Dreams are as unique as the person who owns them, and each dream we have is connected with our own "reality"

I believe that dreams unite the body, mind, and spirit. Although sometimes scary, they are a means by which we can gain insight into ourselves, a tool for self-exploration.Just as you have returned with a new and differently positive perspective on your life, time and surroundings,India and all that you came in contact with, have forever benefited from your visit. Thank you for sharing!!

  • My dearest Shanon... thank you for suggesting that I have as much to offer, as I can absorb. You are a dear and I do forget that. Insecurity being what it is... ;-)

As to my dreams, they do tend towards darkness, even when they offer a positive outlook. I like to think that my darker, frightened self vents in my dreams... who knows... ;-)

On the positive side, I often dream of being some sort of mermaid, being able to swim and breath underwater, loving and free...

  • sounds very symbolic dreams. they can be very scary those dreams. transforming into something you have been really hoping for, can be really scary.

    nice to hear, peace ben.

  • Aww, Ben, thank you for your poetic self. I can speak from experience that it is scary to transform into that which I would wish to be. Perhaps the caterpillar is frightened of becoming a butterfly. It is painful, no matter how desirable, to shed old skin, and unwanted issues.

As to the symbolism... well, I'm guessing about my guesses... its all instinct.

Your perspective is always welcome here... ;-)

  • BIG :)

  • It's always a delight to see you, humanswin! Thank you for your continued support... ;-)

  • It's good that you came back during spring time with summer coming and not fall with winter coming. I went to Brazil in their Spring and had such a positive experience but came back to Canada in our Fall changing to winter after leaving it still being summerlike. I will never do that again!

  • I am grateful to be facing the long days of summer with lots of sunlight to cheer me on. Such are the little things in life... ;-)

  • I want to see more of your stand up comedy. I wish i had the nerve to get up in front of people and let go like that. I would have loved top have gone to india with you!

  • I have dreams very much like that but mine are much more fragmented than yours. But what you have said here has helped me so much to understand this type of dream. An example of a dream like this; We had a cat that had many kittens. I have dreams about a litter of kittens that transform into insects. That's like devolution, that can't be good. But sometimes animals transform into people in my dreams, that's a little more promising lol.

You are an amazing being, with an amazing mind.

  • Wow, Dave, those are some high compliments and they touch me deeply... thank you.

I'm rather new to dream analysis and just follow my instincts. I rarely remember my dreams and to have them be so memorably, densely, recurring told me something. It's taken some deep meditation to begin to understand them and I really don't know if I do... ;-)

  • So good to see you home Dawn, and am glad you had such an enjoyable experience! But you didn't mention the film you were working on while you were there, just curious, is it something we will be able to see? Welcome home Sweetie!

  • Thank you Dean! There are clips from the film I worked on in India, "Onan", on my channel, both in playlist form and part of my video logs. The movie is currently being edited and is going very well. Please check them out when you have some time. We welcome comments! :-)

  • Dawn,

    Thanks for sharing, Rock On!!!

  • memories of good trips are great!!! hugs xjoeyx

  • Thank you Joey!!! You're a good traveler and I hope to one day visit your beautiful country!

  • Very good advice! It's very important to always take Spirit with you. Never leave Spirit behind. Hope you had a wonderful birthday Dawn. ♡♥♡~twms~♡♥♡

  • Yes, indeed... I bring my Spirit where ever I go... I hope, one day, it proves useful... ;-)

You ~twms~ are an inspiration to my soul! Thank you for stopping by...

  • Hi Dawn,

Thank you for sending me your post India video thoughts. I am delighted to be the first to comment. I am happy to say that it is beautifully done, is very enjoyable and importantly your honest love for India is shining through the entire length of the clip. I wish you success in every venture you are sailing into. Take care and God Bless!

    Cheers,

    Kris

  • Hi Kris! I am delighted, as well, you are my first comment!!

Your passion for India is well deserved. Thank you for your kind wishes... and kind complements. I'm so glad you enjoyed my rather personal vlog. I hope we get to meet should I be lucky enough to travel to India again.. ;-)

  • Thank u Dawn. U r and will always be a wonderful and sweet friend indeed ! I now cannot locate my original comment here at all. Where did it go? I just cannot remember what I wrote either! Mind boggling indeed. Take care and carry on in your own special merry way.

    Cheers,

    Kris

  • Hi Kris,

You just have to go to the bottom of the page and look at all the comments to see what you've written should comments accumulate for a particular video... ;-)

You are a very sweet man... I hope I get to meet you!
