  • 0:30 that must have been boring for the crowd to watch... up and down and up and down and...

  • does anyone know which skateboard brand was the best late 70's early 80's.. lool i want 1. im 17 now i have a plan b. but i want one of the oldies skaterbords to comment back plzz..

  • @1SOADBITCH Zephyr, Z-flex, or go to alva stores, doubt they still do them, but it's worht a try.

  • @1SOADBITCH You can easily make your own just like they did back then. Check out the webisodes in the extras on the Dogtown and Z-Boys DVD - there's a clip of them building one just like they used to. It could also be a fun woodshop class project.

  • @1SOADBITCH The best brands were Sims, Alva, G&S, Dog Town etc.

  • Brilliant video, good for you. That rock n roll at the end is AMAZING. Thanks for sharing that with us

  • I'm 48, my son bought his first board last weekend, it was so great when he came in and ask me if I would teach him how to ride old school. Broke out my board from the eighties, I hate that I don't have my Alva board any longer, but just the same, I still got. Cutting 360's just like I did in my teens. Going to the skate park this weekend. Can't wait for the kids comments about "old dude" riding half pipe!

  • @SirYarquest old bastard

  • I just met Tony at kona

  • why couldnte the 70's be for ever

  • @imfromunzid I blame the 80's.

  • This is cool! I was at that skateboard show at Solvalla in 78 i think it was. Still got a sticker Alva signed for me, and still have a Alva board with red 65 mm Kryptonics. I'm turning 48 this year and still ride it from time to time. Allso still have a New Sport Booster with Independent trucks and Sims snake wheels...I just loved when my son grew up and i could teach him how to ride. He is 20 now and just like his dad he will NEVER stop riding...

  • Like music, cars, TV, and girls...everything looked (and was) more awesome in the 1970's. I don't see any of today's fancy footwork, but I guarantee you they were having a lot more fun back then. I'm itching for the spring thaw so I can hit the park (on my old school board)... ;)

  • I wish life was still like this :(

  • loved the cess slides on the pipe and the nosewheelie. Good memories.

  • This is all the way sweet.

    Skateboarding is Not Crime

  • Love skateboarding in the 70's- so awesome that people were amazed by a kickturn on a quarterpipe.

  • ele anda na msma bvase que a minha

  • MANO MEU PAI CONHECEU ELE...

  • Listen you teenagers. We may be in or near our 50's now, but we fucking rocked.

    ;-)

Coming to a town near YOU

    ;-)

Shit. My kids are gonna read this. Hey. Do your fucking homework.

  • SKATE TOUGH OR GO HOME! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

  • Nice video but Tony Alva has been and always will be a self absorbed jerk.

  • @drew333xxx do you think that just because you saw LoD?

  • @4metalmaniac20 alva says he is in the documentary z boyz u fucking retard

  • legend

  • beast!

who knows about a Nash Hang Ten?

    Post comments on my blog...

  • who the hell cares about the song is anyone watching alva

  • Infra Riot - The Soundtrack of our lives :D This song is fucking cool dude :D

  • the name song is..... ????

  • ''excellent''

  • Does anyone remember this dude, Brewer, was in old skate rags in 70's, big blonde fro, was sponsored I guess. I hade a 34" brewer board I boght used at skatepark in fla. had bennett trucks, mistake bcuz of plastic baseplates kept breaking. OJ wheels, kinda slow compared to kryptonics, but ok. Still have that board, which was a bit longer than avg back then. Thx for the awesome footage, I'll shut the hell up now

  • @scottymacIII : hey! Brewer was EastCoast; boards never went past "logs"(no 7-ply Can. maple); We used ACS metal baseplates for Bennetts, 'til we all had to switch to Trackers; now Indy's: notice the Tracker hanger w/ Bennett-shaped baseplate. LimeGreenSimsSnakes gripped w/speed.

  • The guy you are referring to Rodney Jesse. He rode for Brewer skateboards , which was a company that came out of Dick Brewer surfboards. Back then it was common for surfboard companies -- and even surf shops -- to have skateboards with their logo.Jesse had amazing style and could skate a pool as well as anyone at the time, but did not want to do the whole contest scene. I used to watch him at skateboard heaven in Spring Valley.

  • Awesome vid... Thanks for make and post it... ;)

  • Nice vid. Those halfpipes were brutal.

  • @Lengsel7 they're more like 3/4 pipes lol

  • @Lengsel7 Yeah, over-vert is brutal.

  • fuck whats on tv, tv is for lameass people anyway. Get a life. On the internet! (and please dont try to drag my username in to this, that shows your immaturity level, if you do, youre probably a person who squirms everyitme you hear "thats what she said")

  • imagine going back in time with paul rpdriguez or somthin and watching him skate against these guys, he would be a legend lol ... not that he isnt allready

  • dude...p.rod is a little lameass streetskater..his daddy is famous and thats how he got known..fuck prod and fuck scheckler.give them an empty pool and a halfpipe and they wouldent know what to do with themselves.I outskate those two fools on a daily basis in my backyard pool and pipe.

  • lol yeah ok and iv heard of you so much more on extreme than i have P-rod.. pff how silly of me...

  • bam margera, are you serious, fuck that guy. tony and the z-boys are fucking legends, bam margera and the the other sellouts should be sucking their dicks.

  • hey crissangel..go do a magic trick or something...ROB DYRDECK is the biggest sellout ever...axe deoderant-carls jr-mtv-nike...cmon bro..he should keep it SKATE and make wheels or trucks..custom griptape....fuck bam and rob they both suck!

  • Whatever happened to the edger?

  • Haha! Those crazy 8 foot wide, 12 foot tall, no flat bottom, no top deck halfpipes. Half the skill was just staying on the ramp.

  • what?! skatboarding was the best then. Now you got Rob dydrek, bam margera sell out mtv fucks!

  • what the hell u talkin about? i wish i grew up in those ages cause those were the good days

  • how would you no? it sucked back then

  • it was the beginning of skateboarding, everything had to grow for there to be next generation skateboarding

  • the way i see it every generation sees their own as suckish and others as awesome

  • i guess you turned pro the day you got on a board. go munch your poop man.

  • ur a dumbass

  • think of it this way. if it werent for them, then skating would still "suck" today

  • You are the biggest fuck ever.

  • g-turn babby

  • I have style and really understand the joys of boarding beyond just doing trick after trick. Inthe 70's baording was an amazing artform and more of a way of being. There are some amzing riders out there but they are stylish and it's a souless look at how many tricks ina row I can pull off-a-thon. Stacy Peralta is my fav. I saw him Skate at a park in Paulo Alto in 78 . Amazing and a fun get event. Lots of cool stuff to see and it was ne big skater hang...Glad I got to experience it!!

  • I agre Rylanblu. I go tmy first skateboard when I was 7. I used to skatebaord and rollerskate all day long. I am 40 and still ride my board in Union Square Park in Manhattan and Hoboken Skate Park in NJ.

  • i bet his balance is like super human

  • That waa some good old footage that i had never seen before. ......YEAH.......

  • lance dowdell was pretty sick

  • cool freestyle segment

  • thats not how he really was dumbass

  • Please teach the name of a song and the musician name of BGM.

  • I skated with Shogo and Alva at the skate pool at hemsby near Gt yarmouth in about 78. They were no better than us trick wize but style was fantastic. completely changed the way I skated. Thats the big problem now. I'm 44 now and still love to skate. Where are all the kids with that great surfing style its an art

  • I am 43 and was in a skateboard competition in 1977 and Stacy Peralta was the judge. I won in freestyle. I made up my own tricks. I was a total original and inventive! It was Art.

Kids today just blew it up with what they do. Nothing new has happened in 10 years. My girlfriends Dad managed Tony Alva.

  • Thats really cool dude and I agree...

  • Thats interesting...just very hard to believe.

    Mvh Andreas

  • lords of dogtown portrayed him like he was an asshole....

he wasnt really like that right? i know he wanted to make money and stuff and fame....

  • dude u know nothing about the z-boys sid is a fictional character they added to the movie the movie isnt exactley how everything went down the movie "dogtown and the z-boys" is a better reference

  • dude he was real y would they just pop him in the movie as a main charater if he wasent real

  • ur retarded u know nothing my dad used to hang out in the shop back in the 70s all the time my dad was cool with all the z-boys and my family still knows them there is no sid

  • sid isnt a fake charechter he is on the real dog town z boys documentary

  • you're right he is fictional. But there was a kid dino that did get sick and skated with the z-boyz so it is a mix of real and not real.

  • yo they are all good but alva is the best and you have to agree

  • Hi Mate, This is the guy who got the Gul & Blå Team together. Good that you bring back the old stuffs for the now gen. Where on earth r u now? Mongolia? What Mongolia?Cheers! Andrew

  • Yeah, I reckon that's me standing next to Nick Malmstrom (Yellow, Red, Blue Hobie Team Rider shirt) and Gunnar from New Sport House Team. Also in the other ramp shot Lasse "Gringo" - who still owes me money!!!!

  • Hi Alan! We never met but I sure know who you are! So cool to hear from you. The footage in this film is based on my Super8 clips and photos from the magazines "Skateboard" and "Dare Devil". You said that you worked with a magazine called "Pipeline", I can't really remember that. To bad you lost those slides! Do you have anything left?

    / Uffe

  • Hi Uffe,

Good to see your 8mm footage. At least you got the old skool stuffs. I've tons of the old skate slides. Will show em some time on youtube. Keep you informed, then.

    Cheers

    Andrew

  • Thanks Uffe - Great to see this stuff - looking forward to see Duriansead's slides sometime. Regards. Alan

  • Tegelblomma, You sure did do a great job bringing back some vintage stuffs! Gul & Blä Skate Team's Lance Dowdell & Birger Stjärnborg were the hottest Swedish skaters at that time. And TA was our guest for his Swedish tour. Thanks for sharing

  • gr8 job

  • Now THAT brings back some memories. Thanks for that ride back into the past. RESPECT, Glenn
