@monkeefan1965 How do you know if it didn't help anyone? That's a stupid thing to say. I haven't seen any movie since this one that covers abuse so well. This movie helped me, so you're wrong. I don't care if you think "the circle continues". And I strongly do not believe that abused children grow up to be abusers.

Woah, I must say I was completely blown away by this film. Really showed that Susan Dey could act. The story was brilliant as well. What I like about it is that, unlike most child abuse movies where you feel bad only for the kid, in this film you feel equally bad for both. I blame Rowena's bitch mother though. She really was the catalyst of everything that happened throughout the film

@TARDIS280 I agree about her bitch of a mother...the cycle of abuse began with that old battle axe. Watching this makes me realize that I broke that cycle in dealing with my children....I'm not a perfect mom, but a good one, and my kids trust me.  That's worth everything.

That moment at 16:17 is more tragic than 50 physical abuse scenes. You just want to cry.

Rowina took Mary Janes clothes off because that would be a normal thing for a mother to do for her daughter if her daughter were sleeping. Unfortunately that is not the case. I remember this from my childhood. It was very disturbing for a 6 year old. I only remembered Natasha's face and saw an old movie today that she also was in and searched for her bio and found this post. She definitely made this movie real for me. A very disturbing movie.

If you mean that "Psychistrist (and I know the he's the one) he was the worst excuse here's the woman who clearly WANTED to recover and was having a break through and he couldn't even spend a few extra mins with her, I'd like to think if this was real life that he'd lose his license at the very least and at the worst be facing criminal charges

@ManTexDal you'd think so, right? but that guy is obviously from the old school of psychiatric thought where the shrink just sits there for an hour and the patient talks without the shrink saying much of anything, and then at the end of the hour that's IT. I think the thinking in old times was that if you let the patient have extra time when they were upset then the patient was controlling or manipulating the treatment...i agree with you in a situation like this it looks very stupid.

@Taopuppy Yes. I think it would have been worth it to make a part two with a trial and all, just so that his type of ill-caring manner is exposed and he gets sued as being a participant.

@sddweller , I definately agree I think they should have done a 2 part as I would have been most intrested in the reaction of those her father, grand parents, neightbors even the house keeper, and if Dr B DID keep her postion
