  • hahaha just because it's ives isn't an excuse to play it so terribly

  • @DCATPYEO I'm sorry you feel that way.

  • @DCATPYEO Haha you do know Ives wrote it like that to mock bands who actually play like that right?

  • This conductor is amazing, he is world class.

  • 3:19 to 3:24 - Love how the rhythm just comes to a standstill at that part almost like it cancels itself out.

  • I've actually played this piece before, soooooo difficult!

  • Hope this was as much fun to perform as it was to hear. Must've been tough going at rehearsals. Wonder if Carl Stalling was influenced by Ives....

  • Good performance! Great time on the quarter-note triplets in percussion land, but could have used more dynamics in snare drum. Overall it sounded great! or would that mean bad?

  • Great job on one of the most hilarious pieces of literature ever composed. I love how you took out the stinger! And LOL to the woman at the end!

  • I read somewhere that Ives had originally written this tune without the stinger, added the stinger, and then removed it again. I prefer that the stinger be left out as the sax that hangs over at the end adds great effect.

  • I couldn't agree more; it really does add to the whole effect

  • @goduxgo Yes. There is a really good recording of the military band playing this tune, and they intentionally leave off the stinger. It was actually put in because the publisher didn't think that the sax ending was "marketable" lol.

  • I missed the stinger, but I believe that Ives probably liked it better without it!
