  • I just got my concert uke yesterday. It's sexy.

  • Excellent huuuum ukulele huuuuuuum lessons huuuuuum. REally huuuuuuum enjoyed huuuuuuum it. Thanx. Huuuuuuuuuuuummmmmm. ;). huuuuuummmm

  • What songs can I play with this pattern?

  • First legitimately helpful video i've found so far. Thanks :D

  • basically its basic :3

  • um um um ALL HE SAYS IS UM

  • do you use your finger nails?

  • Also what do most poeple have Soprano or mahalo?

  • @unisickle Most people use Soprano, Mahalo is still very wonderful though.

  • When you first start...ukuleling....are the cheap 20 pound colourful ukuleles alright for playing a few songs ? Thanks

  • @unisickle No! They're terrible. you can get an acceptable uke for about £65-80 Lanikai ones. nut it's best if you go for one at double that price. that'll be good until you're awesome then you can think about getting a proper one.

  • this is amazing because.. i am learning how to play and the first song i am really trying to learn is 'will you still love me tomorrow' and i found your video and you just played the chords i've been practicing. great tutorial - thanks much!

  • anyone have tips for not jamming your finger into the A string on the "up"?

  • nvrmnd, I think I know what I'm doing wrong

  • @tennist0 lol i have the same problem xD...i just got my uke today..soprano...my tuning is all messed up :/

  • wait do the two downs overlap at the end.

    i mean is it

down (down up) (up down) down down (down up) (up down) down

    or is it

down (down up) (up down) down down (down up) (up down) down

because it looked different from the ay you say it.

    thank you!

  • i got my uke in the post this morning and i've picked up some chords but this strumming business is so hard! seems it will bring it all together when i master it though, any tips on what fingers to use or anything?

  • this is so confusing to me. you're saying "down down up up down" but it seems like you're strumming down up down up down up.

  • @wynderful Well you're supposed to keep a regular strumming pattern with your hand, down up down up, but on some strums, you skip, and don't strum the strings at all.

  • speed your voice up, its like playing a 33 on 45 :|

  • Slow mode

  • What kind of Uke are you playing? I that a concert or a tenor uke?

What is the best strings I can buy for a Uke?

  • It's a custom Tenor G String ukulele. The best strings in my opinion is the Ko'olau Golds

  • @easyukulele i have a soprano uke, should i get Standard / Soprano - Wound 4th, or another kind? thanks so much :)

  • @joejacksononon...Get the wound C string if they make it for sopranos. Hope this helps!

  • very nice and simple to get u started.

    thanks.

  • Thanks!

  • got my first uke today! thanks for your help!

  • Glad to be of help!

  • Are you just strumming with your index finger or are you using your thumb as well and does it matter? I'm teaching myself and i want to make sure I'm doing it right.

  • Just my index and sometimes my middle too.

  • Thanks so much!

  • Glad to be of help!!

  • Glad this is of help!!

    Aloha!!

  • what type of Ukulele is that? is it soprano?

I wanted to get a Mahalo U-30BL soprano ukulele is it any good??

  • It's a tenor ukulele. Never did play with a Mahalo ukulele. Check out my website at easyukulele(dot)com and I got reviews on different manufacturers that is worth looking at.

    Hipe this helps!!

  • I have a Mahalo Ukulele and it's fine.

It's my first one so i don't know what to compare it too but it's perfectly decent.

  • anything under 300 dollars would be good? thanks again.

  • I was thinking of buying an uke, but i have no experience with guitars at all... I was born in Hawaii and i want to get back to my roots. Does anyone have any ideas on what uke is good for a beginner? I don't want a really cheap one either... I was hoping to buy one, and keep that one for a long time. Any suggestions?

  • I can pretty much recommend a brand in regards to how much money you want to spend....Learning to play the ukulele is pretty easy compared to learning the guitar!!

    Aloha!!

  • could i use the basic strumming for any song? just wondering im a begginer in this thing.thanks

  • Um, not really.....I just used this video to teach a basic pattern on how to strum. It may work with some songs....

    Happy Playing!!

  • One more quick question with the DDU pause UD how often do you change chords, is it at the end of each cycle, in otherwords are you holding a "C" strumming DDU pause UD then changing to an "A" strumming DDU-UD chang to an "F" DDU-UD changing to your "G" DDU-UD and back to "C" or is there another count for your chord changes.

  • Yup..that's correct!!

    Happy Playing!!

    Kainoa

  • So it's "Down Down Up pause Up Down" the notes are CAFG is that a 1645 progression

This is what I'm guessing C is 1 because we're playing in the key of C so D is 2, E 3, F-4, G-5, A-6, and B-7. Making CAFG a 1645 progression I know when playing a 145 progression in the key of C the progression is CFG C being 1 then D2 E3 F4 G5 A6 and again B7 I'm just learning progressions so this is a question, to try to get a better idea of progression, also what other strum patterns work D-UDU-DUD-U-DUD-UDU

  • Yeah, I guess there's a pause between there.

I never did think of that! Good ears!

Yup, the chords are C, Am, F and G7.

If you're learning that style of chord progressions and if it works, go with it!

You can play all different kinds of strumming patterns. It all depends on the style of music you're trying to play!!

The easiest way I found out to figure out a strumming pattern was to mute the strings with your chord holding hand and to follow the beat of the song or the lead guitar.

  • So you mute the strings with your chord holding hand and follow the beat of the song or follow the lead rhythm guitar/keyboard player with your strumming hand.
