@unisickle No! They're terrible. you can get an acceptable uke for about £65-80 Lanikai ones. nut it's best if you go for one at double that price. that'll be good until you're awesome then you can think about getting a proper one.
this is amazing because.. i am learning how to play and the first song i am really trying to learn is 'will you still love me tomorrow' and i found your video and you just played the chords i've been practicing. great tutorial - thanks much!
i got my uke in the post this morning and i've picked up some chords but this strumming business is so hard! seems it will bring it all together when i master it though, any tips on what fingers to use or anything?
@wynderful Well you're supposed to keep a regular strumming pattern with your hand, down up down up, but on some strums, you skip, and don't strum the strings at all.
Are you just strumming with your index finger or are you using your thumb as well and does it matter? I'm teaching myself and i want to make sure I'm doing it right.
hey man:) thanks for a nice video.... but arent you strumming down down up up down up? i dont know im new to the uke, but that was what it looked like to me:) thanks agaian man:)
NO JOKE, was watching this video, learning the strums, went to make a sandwich, came back into the room......and trod on my ukulele. haha the nick and body are no longer 1...good video, enjoyed it while it lasted.....anybody got a ukulele for sale? lol
It's a tenor ukulele. Never did play with a Mahalo ukulele. Check out my website at easyukulele(dot)com and I got reviews on different manufacturers that is worth looking at.
I was thinking of buying an uke, but i have no experience with guitars at all... I was born in Hawaii and i want to get back to my roots. Does anyone have any ideas on what uke is good for a beginner? I don't want a really cheap one either... I was hoping to buy one, and keep that one for a long time. Any suggestions?
I can pretty much recommend a brand in regards to how much money you want to spend....Learning to play the ukulele is pretty easy compared to learning the guitar!!
One more quick question with the DDU pause UD how often do you change chords, is it at the end of each cycle, in otherwords are you holding a "C" strumming DDU pause UD then changing to an "A" strumming DDU-UD chang to an "F" DDU-UD changing to your "G" DDU-UD and back to "C" or is there another count for your chord changes.
So it's "Down Down Up pause Up Down" the notes are CAFG is that a 1645 progression
This is what I'm guessing C is 1 because we're playing in the key of C so D is 2, E 3, F-4, G-5, A-6, and B-7. Making CAFG a 1645 progression I know when playing a 145 progression in the key of C the progression is CFG C being 1 then D2 E3 F4 G5 A6 and again B7 I'm just learning progressions so this is a question, to try to get a better idea of progression, also what other strum patterns work D-UDU-DUD-U-DUD-UDU
If you're learning that style of chord progressions and if it works, go with it!
You can play all different kinds of strumming patterns. It all depends on the style of music you're trying to play!!
The easiest way I found out to figure out a strumming pattern was to mute the strings with your chord holding hand and to follow the beat of the song or the lead guitar.
So you mute the strings with your chord holding hand and follow the beat of the song or follow the lead rhythm guitar/keyboard player with your strumming hand.
I just got my concert uke yesterday. It's sexy.

i mean is it
down (down up) (up down) down down (down up) (up down) down
or is it
down (down up) (up down) down down (down up) (up down) down
because it looked different from the ay you say it.

this is so confusing to me. you're saying "down down up up down" but it seems like you're strumming down up down up down up.

What is the best strings I can buy for a Uke?

It's a custom Tenor G String ukulele. The best strings in my opinion is the Ko'olau Golds
