her stars value was an 7.7 i'm sure of it but i can understand why she fell it is the hardest routine in the world at this moment and it is new i would fall too
at the olympics the team comes first. then the All Around and then the aparatus finals...
i dont know wut to say..we havent seen the chienese gymnast since the worlds so we have no clue wut their up to. their probably gona suprise us at the olympics with amazing routines which will drop our mouts open and the chienese are caable or wining team most likely and AA..I think nastia is good but im romanian so i want a romanian gymnast like Steliana nistor to win
im sure the chinese will have great routines but remind urself exactly how consistent r they?? okey. and their AA chances r unrealistic. u cant just all of a sudden make an amazing AAder. the only one who stands a chance is jiang but shes even several tenths behind nast in start value
I'll believe in her DTY when I see it. I'd rather see her throw a clean 1.5TY then a ragged DTY. I do not see how she would have enough amplitude and/or power to do it nicely.
look at my new montage on Shawn and Nastia and it shows her DTY in training. I don't know where else you can look to find it, but thats probably the easiest place to see it.
Just because you have a nice 1.5TY does not mean you have a good DTY. IMHO but I could be wrong, her technique on the 1.5TY is not that conducive to a DTY. I am not saying I doubt she can do a DT, I am saying I doubt she can do a nice one. But I beg to be corrected.
ya i dont wanna say anything either until we see it. i just think hers is just as good as say, carlys was at 2004 nationals, and she was able to upgrade b4 the olypmics, i think nast cud do the same
Her 1.5 in itself was not that great or powerful but Carly herself was relatively powerful. To me it has more to do with the vault's technique. Carly's technique on her 1.5 was IMO more conducive to turning it into a double. Nastia's is cleaner and prettier but I believe her technique on that vault makes it easier to stick and look nice but harder to convert.
I think we're placing too much emphasis on difficulty and losing some of the integrity of the sport by letting people with obvious mistakes medal..that the best hit routine gets the gold, at least under the old system.I liked the old system where if you fell you didn't medal.
i hated the old cod, it was just 15 sec. routine after routine of the same skills. now u actually see people taking risks and doing unique skills. beside falls r now 0.8, so if they give u a low B-score and u still medal then u derserved it
Nastia should not have medaled. Medals should be a reward for a hit routine, not for one that the athlete fell on. I don't care what the difficulty; mistakes should not be rewarded. In the Olympics, I want to see people on the podium who actually hit their routines solidly.
so she normally hits her routines, that doesnt mean that when she doesn't hit them she should medal. that's judging based on what she can do not what she did which would be totally unfair so it would be pointless to look up her other routines. Cheergirl982 didn't mean ever hit them she meant in the actual competition
I didn;t mean at that particular thing, i was saying that if they marked on what she is capable of rather than what she performed then it would be unfair, i didn't mean this routine
I totally agree. I think its a real disservice to the sport to have people win medals with a flawed difficult routine while people with a little less difficulty performed perfectly get no reward.
I do think difficulty should be rewarded aswell though, because if someone performed an easy routine time after time they would be unlikely to fall. Nastia could perform a much easier routine and be more cosistent, but she takes the risks. Sure, if someone is close on her tail or equal in difficulty with her then they should medal instead. However, in this meet her difficulty was far superior to the other bar competitors, and I personally think she deserved this particular silver medal.
I cannot believe she still medaled on this event. She should not have. A fall should not be rewarded even if the routine was difficult. Give the medal to someone who actually stayed on the apparatus. I hope we don't see this at the Olympics
This was a fluke for her. I'm sure she just wanted to try out this new routine again in competition. She said in a press release that she was a little tired and it's still the beginning of the season. That's why Shawn etc didn't compete.
If Shawn wanted to be a part of this competition I think Marta would have let her. Since Shawns's already competed in March (and it's still early in the season) she doesn't have a new routine to try out or to prove herself to Marta. Shawn, Shayla and Alicia opted to focus on training(and in Shayla's case heal).
I found everything except her mistakes to be better than normal. Her pirouettes were cleaner and more precise and finished in HS. Her shoots to HB were bigger than normal. Even her dmnt looked higher than in TF and she just wasn't agressive with the rotation.
yeah same screw the team shes worked longer and harder than any of them ( with the exception of alicia )she deserves an AA medal and EF medals. im hoping this was just a bad meet for her and not an on going problem. i mean her floor wasnt any better but the AA was much better than EF's for her here x
well, to be honest, i think all of these people (nastia, shawn, shayla, etc) care more about their individual scores more than the team, but they always say they like the team because otherwise it'd be selfish. but truthfully i think all of them care more about their individual winnings
"Screw the team"? I STRONGLY disagree with that selfish, individualistic attitude. Unfortunately Nastia seems to share your sentiments, judging by her composure and behavior at meets. Some people might say she's just trying to stay focused or whatever, but I see athletes from other countries supporting their teammates (even those of the opposite sex) in a way that should shame some of our American gymnasts.
First off, I sure hope you didn't literally mean screw the team... some of these girls are just too young to be engaging in such adult activity. :)
Second, no offense taken. The point I'm making is that our society puts too much emphasis on individualism - it's not healthy! As the adage goes, "People can get more accomplished when they work together." But corporate America wouldn't make money if we were a collective society, and THAT is why you see individualism so strongly encouraged!
haha :) i suppose so, im not even american lol yeah individualism is seen all too often nowadays, but yu must admit that any gymnast would want an individual medal right? they work day in day out with their coaches and then meet girls that they barely even know anyway. of course the team comes first but theres always going to be that element of the 'individual' x

Boy aren't you just a piece of work? A.) you don't know who the team is. How do you even know if she's the hardest working one? I guarantee Chellsie has worked harder and been through more. The point of the Olympics is for the team to win gold, that comes before individual results. Stop being so selfish.
im not being selfish lmao. and...i do know who the team is im just not a huge chellsie memmel fan!okay yeah fair enough maybe chellsie has worked just as hard too and never fails to impress in team finals, but where is she now? i didnt literally mean screw the team of course the whole point is for them to do well but nastia alicia and CHELLSIE deserve some form of medal as this is most likely going to be their last shot at the olympics x
And their medal should be the team medal. Yes, you are being selfish. How do you know this isn't everybodys last shot at the Olympics? You're letting your obvious biasness for Nastia allow to say some really stupid stuff. You said screw the team, that is being selfish, so get the hell over it.
'Boy, aren't you just a piece of work?' A)You "guarantee" Chellsie blah blah blah; guarantee, interesting. B) If the point of the Olympics is for the team to win gold, why are there contests for individual medals? C) Even after dilemmababe clarified herself, you still rant on and on about "screw the team." It wasn't a literal comment, just someone sharing their thoughts.
