Groovy, very groovy!!! the waiters taking a brake??ha, ha!.. what a style they have... I want to go this restaurant immediately please! we want more!!
@rowdyjoe11 Dr. Music...the only one that souds like sh-t is your silly and uneducated comment...You should train your ear to listen to some African music and you will find out her style IS VERY AFRICAN and it also ecoes the high pitch voice of male actors playing the female part in kabuki theater as well, the male impersonators are known as onnagata...This is one of the best intercultural music performances of in the internet...Take care and above all RESPECT !
This is what the world needs more of... go anywere on the planet and we all play drums... in such similar ways... this is an example of just a little exploration. I'm from the West Indies... I absolutely Love this. We can all relate as humanity... as One!! Peace & Blessings
Ooo clever, they seem to be combining african djembe drumming with the style of Taiko drumming- the whole hand movements and powerful beat.. I like it!
thats something i never thought i would see, people dressed in that nice of clothes playing drums like wild! further proof that any one can be a drummer!
surreal...beautiful...djembes and bow ties. believe it or not i tried to convince my band to try such a thing years ago and they told me i was nuts. and when i shut my eyes i hear the music of africa, pure and strong, loving and accepting, giving power and blessing any and all who chose the path of djembe. domo arigato gozaimasu for your inspiring energy. DRUMMING CAN UNITE AND HEAL US ALL!!!!!
KOHN-Nee-Chee-Wah. Drums like these Djembe's are known for their healing properties. As the drums speak of their feelings here, it shows that Africa has found many friends in Japan. PEACE
Very uplifting. Like Doc said, it's always great to see a culture play a "taboo" type music from another culture. Even if one doesn't care for (or even hates) the ways and beleifs of a certain culture or cultures, that does not mean that the music from that culture should not be played and enjoyed. Music, however we perceive it, is universal: It's one thing we can all enjoy playing and listening to, no matter what the differences are between us.
I really liked this video. The drumming was A Grade. Then came that shrill voiced singer. I had the volume on high, and when I first heard her, I was absolutely spooked. For those who will listen after me, then don't turn the volume on high.
Nice, thankee much for posting that. I think it is really cool to see one race playing another race's music. Because, just because one area invented a style of music, it surely doesn't mean it just belongs to them and others can revel in it. Correct me if I'm wrong but it almost seems like taboo sometimes for people to step out of "boundries" of their own culture's music...
These kids is ROCK'N!
