Trampolines are fun as hell. Good way to stay in shape. For me, there's nothing like the feeling of bumping in a solid ring. It's pretty fun.

One more thing. I know this is a highlight reel but it applies to most backyard vids I've seen: The highspots have far more impact if you slow the rest of the match down a little. Not much but you get a better pop and hook the crowd far more if you use your transitions as a way of building anticipation rather than just to catch your breath.

The hooking element behind a hardcore match is that someone will get hurt.There's no trick for selling tacks stuck in your back without feeling actual pain. You just grit down and bare it.Even in just regular matches, the guys still feel the pain of every bump. The only 'trick' involved is to avoid severe injury so you can come back and do it again.Thats it.The risk is there, no matter what.The only way to cut risks is to practice, which we did regularly.

I'm perfectly well aware that wrestling hurts, I've done it but there is a difference between the risk factors involved in a ring or a trampoline and the risk involved in hitting bare earth. I'm not saying don't do it but I am saying be careful and maximise the emotionalism of it so you have to risk less.

Interesting. Some of these guys have talent but a word of advice: Pretty much everyone on the video needs to learn how to sell a move without getting killed by it. Also, stay away from spots involving glass, it's way too unpredictable to risk it.

hmmm....well i'd say that if you're under the impression that these guys are getting killed every time they take a move on the vid, then they're doing a pretty convincing job selling the moves. The worst injury sustained in my days of byw by anyone was a broken wrist.

I'm sure but my point is that working that style in that enviroment puts you in a dangerous position. The ideal in a worked match is to give the appearence of genuine pain without actually feeling any. From my own experiances and simple observation, many of the guys in the vid are risking serious injury and not selling it hard or long enough when they do.

Also, the point about spots involving glass stands.

Buy 4 wooden posts. Cement them into the ground. screw eyehooks into the posts. We used turnbuckles and ran the ropes through the hole from corner to corner.

First, you get tired to elevate the ring. Then put wood on top of the tires. Then carpet padding and a tarp. Gimmie your e-mail if you want more specific directions.
