  • You forgot the fact that many commercial pet food companies source their ingredients from foreign countries and support unfair trade and unfair labor.

  • people should stick to EVO, Fromm, Blue Buffalo, Canidae, Taste of the wild...

  • I feed my puppy Blue Buffalo:) He seems to like it and he seems healthy, soft fur, very energetic and bright eyes:)

  • Awesome video I love how it covered how low quality some kibble is, even covered raw diet which is nice and covered good quality kibble and fresh pet stuff.

  • Hey friend, You seem cool! Love your channel! Do you love like NYC? Check out my food and travel videos in NYC!! Stay in touch!!

  • i always wondered why cats and dogs life spans are so short

  • somtimes feeding them human food is good

  • i have to really confess, its so much cheaper to own a small dog when it comes to quality feeding. I can buy the very best of food that is nutritious such as raw, or baked that doesnt come in a can or kibble that wont break the bank. If i was rollin in the dough maybe i would buy a great dane and feed it raw everything but in all reality big dog requires lots of food!

  • 1:43 Take Five by Dave Brubeck.

  • I only feed my dog with fresh real beef the same that humans eat. Not that Recycle Meat in a can.

  • Natures recipes sold in most larger chains has a vegetarian formula and other brands online. I dont think we should value one life over another. If a pet they should be veg, which dogs can be despite being omnivores.

  • There is a difference between NATURAL diets and CORRECT diets. The ONLY CORRECT diet for a dog or a cat is a RAW meat-based diet. Not cooked meat, not grain, not cooked grain. Not cooked ANYTHING. There are NUMEROUS raw pet foods available that are nutritionally balanced. Do some simple googling and you will find hundreds of products. Animal Food Services (AFS) is one(Animalfood, com) that is very good and comes frozen or freeze dried. ANYTHING COOKED IS NOT A CORRECT DIET FOR CARNIVORES. Simple.

  • I feed raw for a reason.

  • People...if you love your dogs...go raw. For years, I've been skeptical about feeding raw, about 2 months ago, I decided to switch my dog to raw feeding...and I will tell you, as an owner of a German Shepherd, I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO DRY KIBBLE FOOD. I am amazed at the positive results I've seen in feeding raw, and my dog has changed for the best. I see it. For years, it's been Innova, Blue Buffalo, and Wellness...but now...it's all about raw feeding. I love it

  • thanx for sharing that... I have a cat and two dogs, and I want to switch to raw, but I have no Idea what to give them, can you help me with sugestions, tips, recepies etc.... please....

  • @MelissaMagnificent

Check out the book : "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" by Dr Pitcairn. He has a website as well.

There are many more vets recommending a home made diet, and once you start, it becomes really easy. Also, you can prepare it once a week and freeze it.

  • @MelissaMagnificent There are tons of websites you can visit to get some ideal recipes. Dogster.com is my favorite. Everything you need to know is on this website. It actually gives you an excel worksheet where you input your dogs weight and it will automatically calculate the percentage of meat, bones, offals, organs you should feed. It's usually about 2.5 percent of your dogs weight and what you want to do is to imitate a rabbit...this is called the prey model diet.

  • @mugz28sc We went to raw last week. I'm wondering if there's some sort of feeding guideline. All I've found is they tell you to feed chicken for the first two weeks, and then add other stuff. My question is how often to feed the other stuff?

  • Most commercial dog foods are garbage. I feed a prey model raw diet to my dog and have been for 2 years now.

  • About to start feeding my boxer blue buffalo!!!!!! This is my last bag of iams..

  • I am throwing away iams its not even half empty yet just changed over to Innova I hope it was a good move.

I heard some of the by product in dog food is from horse meat

  • Mars, that makes food for animals, happens to also torture animals to make chocolate. Ironic.

  • are you telling me that the Mars chocklate i eat and i can buy in my store tortures cats and dogs to make it ?

  • Chocolate*

  • I sure am.

    marscandykills (.) com

  • Well, actually, maybe not cats or dogs, but it tortures other animals.

  • Yes i went to that website you gave me.

    i think this is horrible.

I won't eat this kind of candy until i know they don't kill and torture animals of any kind.

    call me crazy i don't care ! :)

  • I've boycotted Mars for the better part of 1 year. You're not crazy, you're perfectly sane. ;)

  • @margreterla

Mars manufacturers pet food, they made Pedigree. How does that make you feel?

  • What about Vets Choice.

  • pet food is made of dead pets

  • :( I know and I think that is awful

  • That is why I feed my dogs home cooking, then I don't have to wonder about what is in their dishes. (smile)

  • @shaithinshoe They are what they eat. I'd kill and salt up my neighbor and his lovely wife for the long years ahead but its illegal here

  • @shaithinshoe its called recycling

  • @shaithinshoe If by pets you mean cattle, then yes. But dogs and cats are not in pet food. Rendering plants have strict codes on what they put in their machines. Numerous DNA tests have confirmed the lack of dogs and cats in numerous plants.

  • @GoneToTheeDogs cattle waste you meaaan.

  • @xxxAirmidxxx Cattle waste? Not really. They put the whole cow in there.

  • @GoneToTheeDogs I highly doubt they put a whole cow in there, they put what's left over from what humans don''t eat bone heads etc...Most of the ingredients always say, byproduct which isn't the entire animal but crap that's left over.

  • @xxxAirmidxxx Yes, they do. The first put air in between the skin and muscles to separate the hide to skin for a different use. They skin the cow, string it by it's foot with a chain, and drop it into a blender. That is rendering. Those cows aren't used for human food, but rather other products....makeup, pet food, etc. These cows are usually dead on arrival. Much different than the human meat packing industry.

  • @GoneToTheeDogs Oh well yea if it's already dead on arrival I read they used diseased animals too.

  • @xxxAirmidxxx Not really, they don't. That would be a health code violation. Rendering plants send their products to a number of companies. Not just pet food. Most companies that use stuff from rendering plants create products for human use.

  • @GoneToTheeDogs Where do you get your information from do you work at a food processing plant?

  • @xxxAirmidxxx Research. I heard about this claim about pets or disease animals in pet food, so I did A LOT of research on it. Videos, articles, asking questions, finding people who actually work in the industry, reading the laws regarding rendering. It's all there. Rendering plants make specific "recipes" They can't just toss dead dogs/cats/disease animals into the pot to get more bang for their buck because that tampers with their product. It'd be bad all around.

  • @GoneToTheeDogs Oh, okay, well thank you for your information.

  • @shaithinshoe And lab rats, monkeys, cow/pig/sheep hooves, intestines, brains, blood, sawdust, motor oil...etc....

  • I purchased two cases of Evanger's human grade dog food. I usually buy in bulk. One of the cases, where the box was intact, in fact had 8 severely dented cans of food. Stewart at the company, refused to send out replacement cans. HORRIBLE customer service. He offered to give me coupons for stuff but no food. Way to lose a customer, Stew. He claimed I bought the cases 5 mths ago, but what should that matter, exp date is 2013, four years from now. Very Rude. I paid $56 for 2 cases plus s&h.

  • iams has killed countless animals...

  • Iams killed my Collies' twin sister :(

  • iams Killed my cat! he got some kidney failure because of Iams!

  • my dad and i started making dog biscuits and i need help for a name, can anybody help me, ..please????

  • Canindy, Dont forget my commission.

  • If you love dogs search "KONAS CHIPS"

  • what if you dont have a dog, should you still buy quality food or will the cheap stuff cut it since it wont be eaten?

  • Buy the expensive stuff, you don't want the bugs to get sick would you?

    lol

  • Lol I love how in pet food commercials it shows the person feeding the dog a giant, overflowing bowl of kibble. A dog on high quality food of large size will only need like.. 1.5 cups per meal.

  • I've also been amused by this. My dogs eat Innova Evo (grain free), and my big boy is 65 pounds and eats 2 1/2 cups a day and maintains his weight perfectly! If he exercises a lot, I may bump it up to 3 cups, but never more than that. And there is hardly any poo, and what poo there is dries up like ashes in only a couple of hours and blows away with the wind.

  • Have you ever heard of Life's Abundance, it too is human grade quality but is much cheaper than Innova.

  • i just learned about this unhealthy grain and

by-meat products thing in pet food.

So now i will only but Wellness food.

  • I would NEVER feed any pet commercial food.

That said, this is NOT a documentary. This is a commercial for "Fresh Pet".

Nothing wrong with promoting your company unless you are doing so under false pretenses.

  • This video is very bias and only one side of the story. The creator obviously needs to do more research to get the whole story. That is, if he even cares about actually educating the public about pet food rather than pushing his own personal agenda...

  • Freaky!!!!!!! .... cant believe my eyes...:(

  • i am the development guy at a dry pet food factory and our products have lots of quality ingredients in them, including fresh meat.

  • "Including" fresh meat???

    Wow, aren't WE lucky.

A dog's diet should be almost ALL fresh meat.

  • @hilgy1188 so do you think we can survive without meat? because i know a small part of the world with people who eat only raw natural food and they live to be 130+

  • Fascinating. Thanks for the posting. Certainly helps to raise awareness and encourages people to think about what they are feeding their pets.

  • my dog got pancreatitis from the IAMS dog food scare...it cost me 1700.00 and thank god my dog Pep is ALIVE....

    what a mess

  • please tell me you put pep on holistic food.

  • i couldnt i had to put him on the ID brand food for his stomach...and i have him back on dry iams pellets...its the only thing his stomach will take..otherwise it gurgles and he suffers badly

    thanks for asking

  • Very interesting! I learned something new.

  • nicely done! a video i actually wanted to keep watching.

  • Awesome documentary

  • This is a GREAT documentary. I think more people should watch it and will hopefully make them more aware of what they are feeding their pets.

  • Well done documentary!
