@1blastman She was and still is a major star, certainly to her fans. Maybe not as big as Madonna or Beyonce but much more versatile working with the likes of Humphrey Lyttleton and Jools Holland as well as her own band. She's still touring and packing the audiences in at the age of 66.

1:39 - Elkie is miming. But why worry - we all know she can belt it out. And I bet that if the band had been asked by the tv company 'Do you want to mime or play live?', they would've played live.
Hotdamn! It's easy to forget just how husky Elkie was. Throw in a bit of Joplin and mix with a bit of Chaka Khan (in her prime) and just keep simmering....
man i wish i was her mailman back then. Crikey she is hotter than July. Could be singin the yellow pages I don't know. she makes me gain back my religion cuz i'm prayin.
I wish they had expanded on this tendency...somehow, Elke's vast talent didn't showcase well on the VJ performaces...sometimes it's just that some combos click and some don't
lipsynch clues 1. song on CD it is exactly 100% a clone 2Like all great live singers she does it badly in parts.3. sound quality is too good for live 4. No lead from the mic along the floor no radio mic's in the eraly 1970's
4.sloppy in her mic usage for live in/ out live she would be within 2 inches of it.
How did the guys in the band keep their mind on playing with Elkie flashing her thighs in their faces. They must have really been dedicated musicians indeed.
Yes I think it is - Vinegar Joe were popular in Germany and they did a lot of TV work there. I have never rated this song as one of their best and also Elkie is lipsynching here which she never does that well. Ahhh they could have been such a big group but it just wasn't to be
I agree it's sad. But I think Vinegar Joe could not have been a big group without changing radically. Their catchy blues-rock schtick, like the Faces and Stone the Crows, was very much early 70s. It was an extension of the 60s blues-rock boom, and its raw energy was eclipsed by punk-rock in '76.
i just liked elkie. palmer and alan powell

1:24 to 1:30....does anybody realize that's ROBERT PALMER on the far left?! The same one who had the huge '80s hit with "Addicted To Love?"
MattHatter 2 years ago
Looks like him, must be...but why is he wearing his watch on the right hand? In later videos he wears it on the left.
zing2222 2 years ago
Very observant. Can't say I'm that huge of a Robert Palmer fan to have noticed THAT! LOL.

@farttart00000 She IS miming. At @ 0:42, her head is turned away from the microphone and her mouth is closed, yet she was still singing.

@VoodooHighwayRocks Who cares , Elkie does not have to mime , she is a great live artist.

@Eamonn20a
I am not saying that she isn't a great live artist. I am just saying that she is miming in this video.
