  • i just liked elkie. palmer and alan powell

  • haven't heard a true wail like that since janis

  • @1blastman She was and still is a major star, certainly to her fans. Maybe not as big as Madonna or Beyonce but much more versatile working with the likes of Humphrey Lyttleton and Jools Holland as well as her own band. She's still touring and packing the audiences in at the age of 66.

  • 1:39 - Elkie is miming. But why worry - we all know she can belt it out. And I bet that if the band had been asked by the tv company 'Do you want to mime or play live?', they would've played live.

  • Why wasn't this woman a major star?

  • дичайшая тетка

    несомненный зачот

  • Hotdamn! It's easy to forget just how husky Elkie was. Throw in a bit of Joplin and mix with a bit of Chaka Khan (in her prime) and just keep simmering....

  • @Tachyonstorm Sounding just a good today if not better.

  • O.......M...........G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best British bands ever. No argument. Why did no one notice at the time?

  • man i wish i was her mailman back then. Crikey she is hotter than July. Could be singin the yellow pages I don't know. she makes me gain back my religion cuz i'm prayin.

  • Gotta love Elkie!!

  • Listen to the album "Six Star General" to understand just how great Vinegar Joe were. Best live act I ever saw, and Elkie mmmmmmmmmmm....nice!

  • J'adore et j'ai le disque, mais quel est le roi des ....qui a inscrit "première disco"????

ça va pas la tête?... peintron que t'y es!

  • I forgot what a dish Elkie was back then!

  • This brings back some fond memories. My girlfriend at the time looked a lot like Elkie. Mmmmm....

  • 1:24 to 1:30....does anybody realize that's ROBERT PALMER on the far left?! The same one who had the huge '80s hit with "Addicted To Love?"

  • Looks like him, must be...but why is he wearing his watch on the right hand? In later videos he wears it on the left.

  • Very observant. Can't say I'm that huge of a Robert Palmer fan to have noticed THAT! LOL.

  • I wish they had expanded on this tendency...somehow, Elke's vast talent didn't showcase well on the VJ performaces...sometimes it's just that some combos click and some don't

  • Aw, shut up!!! This is a great performance!! : )

  • I missed this great band when they came to Detroit's Cobo Arena in 73 or 74. Any one remember who headlined ? Thanks !

  • Elkie Is NOT miming here ..... It's LIVE.....

  • lipsynch clues 1. song on CD it is exactly 100% a clone 2Like all great live singers she does it badly in parts.3. sound quality is too good for live 4. No lead from the mic along the floor no radio mic's in the eraly 1970's

4.sloppy in her mic usage for live in/ out live she would be within 2 inches of it.

    5. Her band have no leads from their instruments.

    I promise this is lipsynch

  • @farttart00000 She IS miming. At @ 0:42, her head is turned away from the microphone and her mouth is closed, yet she was still singing.

  • @VoodooHighwayRocks Who cares , Elkie does not have to mime , she is a great live artist.

  • @Eamonn20a

I am not saying that she isn't a great live artist. I am just saying that she is miming in this video.

  • Elkie's miming isn't great on this one.

  • Elkie is a LIVE performer, and a great one at that !!!

  • douglasmartin, thinks Elkie is miming here, WRONG !!!!

  • thank you

  • Was Elkie Brooks performing I didn notice at first..

  • Whats your point ?????If you did not notice at first. That means you noticed later. So the answer IS . YES !!!!!

  • OK dont sound so hasty please.

  • Yes, Elkie Brooks was with Vinegar Jo in the early '70s. Robert Palmer was in the band too.

  • How did the guys in the band keep their mind on playing with Elkie flashing her thighs in their faces. They must have really been dedicated musicians indeed.

  • This is Elkie really going for it. Pete and Robert supporting masterfully.

  • Yes I think it is - Vinegar Joe were popular in Germany and they did a lot of TV work there. I have never rated this song as one of their best and also Elkie is lipsynching here which she never does that well. Ahhh they could have been such a big group but it just wasn't to be

  • I agree it's sad. But I think Vinegar Joe could not have been a big group without changing radically. Their catchy blues-rock schtick, like the Faces and Stone the Crows, was very much early 70s. It was an extension of the 60s blues-rock boom, and its raw energy was eclipsed by punk-rock in '76.

  • not one of my favorite songs by vinegar joe but still a very welcome addition to the rest of the vinegar joe videos collection.

thanks a million my friend, is it german tv?
