Be patient - IDp camps can be visited for those genuinely into volunteer work and in SL. A list of names, videos to trace IDP family members amongst camps, are been discussed. Govt has a 180 day plan, However they do seem to be a high handed in their effort to trace LTTE links. But best way to help IDP is to inquire and present concerns to the Govt formally rather than sensationalising in U tube and thereafter allowing further racial disharmony through commnents as displayed here.

I have been offered a position with NGOs in the North to help. I have tried to go there, but if you haven't heard, Tamils are being detained for weeks right from the airport. Do you call Humanitarian organizations and NGOs LTTE who are being blocked and denied visas? The sinhalese see the tamils as a threat. When SL got its independence, tamils were disproportionately more educated, held top jobs. They were seen as a threat because of this reason. Hence the reason why they were discriminated against to alter the balance in the sinhala favour. In the 70s the sinhalse gov increased the entrance mark for university places for tamils- meaning they had to get higher scores to get into the same course.

Did you try to go there at least? I've been there several times with Tamil & Muslim friends, and nobody stopped us. When one or two black listed LTTE supporters were refused to enter into these areas, & when they come back and make a big issue about it, everyone else repeats the same song like parrots. When someone says "hey those are concentration camps" everone else repeats the same. Dont get paniced by the barb wires. Thats the cheapest fencing methd in SL.

I have been offered a position with NGOs in the North to help. I have tried to go there, but if you haven't heard, Tamils are being detained for weeks right from the airport. Do you call Humanitarian organizations and NGOs LTTE who are being blocked and denied visas? The cheapest thing to do would be to release these people back to their families, we are more then willing to 'foot the bill' for them. We have family outside of these parts and homes that can easily accommodate our families.

My family has already given thousands to feed these people. I have family members who had been supporting orphanages through Christian organizations. I had been invited to help with Christian charity dealing with orphans. So you don't need to tell us what to do, I dont know about you, but we happen to have family in these camps - and they've been sneaking us calls, so we know exactly what the people want. Most of Aisian and African countires showed they are still not mature enough to lead the world. 50 000 people were massacred in few days in Sri lanka.
