@LaraHayes1986 Well, the Gatilin Brothers actually liked the song. Roger Bowling, the guy who wrote it, HATED The Gatlin Brothers and trhat's why he stuck the name "Gatilin" in there. According to Kenny Rogers, "If I had realized that connection, I would've asked for the name to be changed."

I love this song. Tommy was not a coward, but men are men. Sometimes a man has to do what he has to do and a woman as well. He o she has to defend themself, if it the last resort, if someone has violated his family. A bully has to be dwelt with emmediately. Some men do not understand words. I can picture the fight that ensude in that bar, Tommy, after locking the door, walks back to the one Gatlin boy, and without hesitation, floors him in one punch to the jaw, knocking the brother out cold, (Then please imagine an old western bar brawl where EVERYBODY starts throwing punches, bar stools go flying, tables collaspe, the mirror gets smashed, but in the end, only Tommy leaves).
