  • this man is an angel

  • You get the idea of me being ironic? Please thumb this up (below this comment), so people can see what buying springs in 3rd World countries, means. It means people who live around this springs are not allowed to get water from their natural soil.

  • Thumbs up for NESTLE - who bought Springs in Africa and South America to sell it to the 1st World.

  • Love it - CW is reinventing Charity

  • giving up me bday:)

  • 26 people don't drink clean water

  • Now i want my xmas gift to be 20$ =)

  • how can i send a money ??

  • I just made a donation of $50 for my birthday which is today. Tried getting my friends on but did not work our so well.

  • In your party, why $20 or 30. In Indonesia, we need to pay $50 or Rp 500 just to enter halloween party?

  • It's like "I want to live in dessert and I want to live decently". Where is the people's will?

  • I think it is exagerating with this kind of problems, the real problem is because the people live far away from the water source, or do not have well. I believe is some kind of ignorance for this people because they don't find out a solution and expecting for others to resolv their problem. This kind of campaigns is made for us, people who want to believe that we make good things for Africa or other regions. I don't believe that every comunity itself don't have the power to build a well.

  • @olarmariusalex You don't understand that these kids weren't born into money. These kids were born into poverty sure Africa can change the water issue but why can't we? Why can't we just give up $20; most people spend that money on jeans. Africa can't help itself because we don't give them help ourselves

  • please help this cause its only 6p and it for a geniune cause please take the time

    thanks in advance /watch?v=jbFpuGNgE2s&feature=channel_video_title

  • Amazingly thought out and well produced video. Viewers should all repost and like!

  • that is very good

  • perfect job

  • This is such a good and inspirational video. I donated lots of money to this organization already.

On a side note I'd like to say that boiling water could help reduce the risk of getting disease. If you're in a survial situation and need water fast you should boil the water first. I think that educating the starving/dehydrated children is also important

  • I am so impressed by what this charity is dong. I will post this on my facebook and twitter.

  • @Cher987 try donating if you can

  • OMG! MY TEACHER SHOWED US THIS CHARITY WATER VID!!!

  • how come only 174,017 viewed ? ... so little ?

  • I just turned fourteen, my friends have been bugging me asking what to get me... I know what I want now.

  • The video says that they've helped people in '15' countries, but the text says 16.

It's only a small difference but the charity should know which is right.

  • Who r the 22 losers?

  • I never get sick of this video...i watch it at least a couple times a week, so compelling. Inspired me to create my own charity campaign woo 'Dropping Hammers, Saving Lives'!

  • just donated $100.

  • and you know now what music is it ?

  • the 21 b*stards who dislike this video deserve to be lined up and shot. this video is amazingly inspiring. 720000 people getting safe water thanks to one guy giving up his birthday.. give this guy a medal.

  • Really want to know what song played in this mv!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the first song is by This Will Destroy You, but not the second and the third. The credit goes to The Rumor Mill, Gilbert Ott & Alexander Howard, but I can't find what song they played...anybody any idea?

  • Amazing!! This is so inspirational.

  • Support the Charity Water effort and spread the word: there are many more villages in need of water in Africa and other places in the world.

We should support Charity Water and all initiatives to duplicate this effort to regions in need.

    I am inspired.

  • private charities rock. whom would you rather give your money: obama or this guy? this is why anarchy would be better than the best government.

  • this video inspires me. continues in such a way. :)

  • Go vegan saves how much clean drinking water? the math will amaze you.

  • A drop in the ocean, how absurd are we.

Better to invest the funds& efforts in order to stop the over population, this is the problem that no one really understands how bad it is and how it destroyed our civilization and our planet.

That's the challenge, stop wasting time in this absurd try to save what is already dead instead of thinking about the future.

  • pass it around folks arent you all on facebook or myspace?have an email list? pass it around , please.

  • @BuyDoinGood praise this man that stood up and help the world.

why praise the lord who makes the kids suffer ?

  • @chocton The Lord does not make kids suffer. He gave us free will and everything we need to help each other. People make these kids suffer. We are the ones who are greedy. Have you donated? When was the last time you gave up your birthday gift? ran a marathon for their cause? Thats what I thought. We can end this because we did this.

  • we need more people like that... PEOPLE, stop living for yourself! There is more to life than that!! The joy from helping other and being selfless is what i profoundly believe why we are here on this Earth!!

  • the 20 people who dislike this video must be crazy

  • its good to see someone has some faith in humanity. The whole concept is so inspiring. No matter what people argue about the percentage of the money going to admin, or to other organisations who actually build the wells etc. The truth of the matter is, they are actually doing something about this issue, something worth while and are not sitting on their asses doing jack wishing for a better world like most of us. They are actively achieving it one small success at a time.

  • ~*~*~*~**yes~*~*~**~**~!!!!

  • think globally act locally

  • READ THIS---READ THIS---READ THIS:

Charity Water says it gives 100% of its donations to building wells. However, Charity, who is just a fundraising organization, sends all donations to Water for People, Living Water International, Healing Hands Intl., Concern Worldwide, and other hefty overhead non-profits who contribute only $0.80 to $0.90 of Charity's donations to building wells. So is Charity's claim that 100% of all donations goes to building wells correct???

  • yes, they do. Their site explains how they do it.

  • Thanks @wonderlunder. Although the Charity site says its well building partners must use 100% of Charity's money for wells, it doesn't say that on the PARTNERS' websites. They just say 80¢-90¢ goes to wells and the balance to salary, etc. If Charity's claim is correct, I recommend for them to make sure their partners' sites state that 100% of all donations RECEIVED FROM CHARITY goes to building wells. Until that's posted, I still think Charity's "100%" claim is misleading.

  • @pzaul: The salary I'm referring to is administrative costs that don't going to funding wells. Non-profits keep track of their "project to admin costs ratio" that shows donors how much they keep (admin costs) and how much goes directly to projects (wells in this case). You should research non-profit accounting. Jelly doughnuts? Haha...haven't had one in years -- too busy traveling to Kenya, China, and Latin America building wells, treating sick kids, & serving the poor. How about you my friend?

  • nobody is too busy for jelly doughnuts.

have fun w/ your comments, i wish you all the best.

  • Thanks pzaul same to you.

  • @asmallvoice1 - yes, 100% goes to it. Their site explains how they do it and if you read how the company was founded, you will see why they wanted to make sure it did.

  • action speaks louder than words........ and its true..

To bring change in this world atleast we can try....... somewhere, somehow even if we are able to make some difference....our job is done.

  • is our job ever done, or should be we be lifelong seekers of change and improvement? :-)

  • i had the chance to know about this site 3 days ago, sept. 28, '09. i was asking then on what can be so special about being born in september, and this organization, this cause hit home. i'm glad to know about it and i would definitely want to be a part of this. charity: water for clean water.

  • Too bad I saw this after my birthday this month :( It's a great idea. I'll have to keep this in mind for next year.

  • could someone tell me, what is the song at the beginning? please..?

  • @amy1144

This will destroy you - They move on tracks of never-ending lights

  • Wow i loved this!! It made me even cry a little there at the end. I definitely want to be a part of this

  • this video should have like 50 million views...

  • what are you guys even talking about? Dont complicate it. It's more simple than you all would think. It's called human compassion. Find that, and you have found something. Thanks for the history lessons though. :)

  • Everybody usually starts with a small step, which then becomes HUGE only when a person has the right intention. = )

  • im sure AIPAC would be happy to charge americans $50 instead of $20 in the name of charity and helping poor africans ... only to further their cause of coning decent americans into debt . AIPAC members r worse than mosquitoes .... they spread more misery

  • I think Charity W:deleted by previous comment because it might have been too thought provoking. Having worked in this field for years, wells break and/or eventually go dry. Then what? In my opinion, Michael Pritchard's water filter that makes filthy water drinkable is a better and cheaper option. Charity:W is just a fundraising organization 3 yrs. old. No long term studies of the depletion of the water table is documented on their site. I wish they had a better strategic plan than just "donate".

  • what address should i send the money to??

  • wow it's really great idea

    wish you all the best

  • thats really amazing. good job :)

  • he spoke at my school :D

  • Just like R3v3LaTiOn331 said.

Amazing, its so inspiring, I had no idea this was going on. Thanks to organizations like this, and all the people ready to help. Thanks you.

  • wow... that was a good ass video. that was the shit

  • I gave you a 5 star but you Deserve a 10 star because "Charity Water" is doing Amazing things and Im Proud to be apart of the change. Thanks for the information. God-Bless! Much Love ~Andree'

  • that was very inspirational.

i'll donate my November 21st birthday for that cause.

  • I clicked this because I thought the guy was Mr.Bean...

  • for real me too

i was like oo mr bean

  • wow

  • Beautiful. This is such a great cause.

  • I cant wait to take a piss in my toilet full of clean water, I cant wait to take a shit in my toilet full of clean water. I am going to let our faucet run for an hour today, and I am going to take the bottled water out of my fridge and dump it down the drain. Why because of smug jackasses like this guy that try to make me feel guilty because I like to drink clean water, and take a shower using clean water, and use the toilet using clean water.

  • Ur sooo fuckin stupidd..end of convo

  • Idiot, he's not trying to make you feel guilty, he's trying to make you understand that there are people who aren't as privileged as you that you can and should be helping.

It's your kind of ignorance and ungratefulness that have left Africa and other impoverished areas like they are.

  • No, actually it is not the "ignorance and ungratefulness" of Western people that have left Africa in the state it is today. Sub-Saharan Africans live in the conditions they do because of tribalism, despotism, superstition, constant casual sex without any regard for consequences, and etc. These problems are their own making. To help themselves, they should get sterlized as soon as possible.

  • Really? Did the whole colonialism thing just not do anything that might have exacerbated the whole situation completely? I must have forgotten the divisions caused by the British and the Boers in South Africa and the selective choosing of the Tutsis over the Hutus by the Westerners there in order to keep control.

Now, you have a point with the current govts. there being corrupt, but why condemn the people? It's due to ignorance-giving money won't help, we've got to be giving education as well.

  • Well, these ppl have started by providing a source of clean water, why dont we start providing that education you talk about. Im not being sarcastic or rude or out of line, I mean it, seriously!!! They started without money so that is not an issue. They started, THAT is the issue, getting started. Have a nice one.

  • Read three cups of tea and see if you still feel this way.

  • Yeah really. The sad thing is that colonialism actually helped them. These people have been around much longer than anyone else; why is it that a period of approximately 300 yrs is blamed for all their problems despite the fact that they have persisted upon the Earth for tens of thousands of years? They've had plenty of time to develop. Instead of advancing beyond tribalism, they choose to behave as they did when they were first encountered by white explorers.

  • Colonialism HELPED Africa? Are we in Bizarro universe now? The Europeans exploited divisions that were there, but exacerbated them (see my examples) and pitted Africans against each other.

Don't blame them for not advancing-there was no NEED too, and the environment there is not conducive at all to such efforts. And Africa had some of the greatest empires of all time, easily rivaling other massive ancient empires. EASILY.

  • black power? lol stop being so negative. Your monkey race is getting some clean water, be happy.

  • Yep; it certainly did. And for the most part, we're talking about sub-saharan Africa here, not North Africa. Too bad they were unable to rid themselves of supreme ignorance, superstition, inbreeding, tribalism, and etc. The blame for not advancing is theirs and theirs alone. The environment anywhere is not conducive to scientific and social inquiry; it takes brains and hard work. Sub-saharan Africa had no empires of any kind that could rival those of the ancient world.

  • Empires: Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Bornu. Check

Dude, Africa's environment is horrible for communication and other requirements for large-scale advancements. For instance, no domesticable animals in Africa means that it's hard to get enough non-farmers to be able to invest in non-agricultural things. The land is very poor (exacerbating the previous problem), and disease and climate restricted growth.

  • None of those "empires" in any way "rival" any other "massive" ancient empires; not a single one. You're also contradicting yourself. On the one hand, you would have us believe that sub-Saharan Africa developed "massive" empires that were the rival of the empires of the ancient world (Greece, Egypt, Rome, China, etc). On the other hand, we're to believe that they are not responsible for their own lack of development due to environmental factors. These two are mutually exclusive arguments.

  • Really? You've never heard of Mansa Musa, have you? The Mali Empire was one of the richest empires of all time, and was larger than Western Europe too. The Songhai empire was massive too. What do you consider qualities of an "empire"? Your definition seems to be rather peculiar.

  • I'm aware of the so-called African "empires". Much is not known about these empires (really just a collection of tribal alliances and conquered tribal groups) due to lack of a written language. The archeological record is also scant because these people builty relatively few enduring structures. There is no comparison to Rome, Egypt, Damascus, etc; none. Your position on this is also contradictory.

  • Also, the second part of my arg is regarding your claim that it's Africans' fault for not advancing. I showed that they had limitations based on the environment that were really unique to Africa. In fact, the diseases limited the empires of Mali, Ghana, and Songhai and helped caused their collapse along with famine as the empires couldn't spread any farther (disease barrier due to rainforest). Despite the conditions, they managed to create empires that died only due to the mentioned conditions.

  • Sorry; not buying it. You've been spoon feed largely apologetic ideas. Too bad you're so emotionally invested that you're unable to look at things critically. Every single civilization, regardless of location or time, has had to face difficult enivronmental problems. The problems may take a different quality in diverse areas, yet they all have these problems. Such problems impact upon food production, commerce, etc. Successful civilizations adapt; those that lose do not.

  • hes not try to make you feel guilty dumb fuck. hes just saying be appreciative and help. you are an ungratefull piece of shit. hopefully you never come through evergreen park illinois or i'll murder you and let those kids drink your sodium filled blood.

  • this is a great idea

  • fue una porqueria

  • I love this idea, Where do I donate?

  • Two thousand nine

  • sweet vid

  • my school is raising money for a well in Africa. I'm goin door to door this week. This is a very good cause.

  • Charity:W is just a fundraising organization 3 yrs. old. No long term studies of the depletion of the water table is documented on their site. I wish they had a better strategic plan than just "donate".

  • You came to our school :)

  • my youth group is working on donating 3000 Dollars

  • Actually it is partially true, but dirty water existed long before the industry came along. This battle for water was even worse 10 centurys ago. There was no clean water in that time, that's for sure. Think about it. History. That's all we have and that's all we're making.

  • your mental
