  • they take some of the coolest photos ever i love it

  • Excellent !

  • man,

    this is a gerat cover

    hendrix is the best.

john mayer doesnt even ome close

  • ahh a select few of RHCP fans will understand your name "Fuzzysham"

i am one of those people.

    what?

    you want proof you say?

    "....assume the fuzzysham!"

  • Haha OK, I believe you =) Glad you noticed and thanks for watching!

  • fuckin unbelieveable awesome cover, no one could do that better!

  • frusciante = wah master

  • actually #2 to the man he is covering this song from

  • killer guitar tone

    love it!!!

  • I love both versions of this song :)

  • I realize I'm sticking my neck out quite a bit on this one but I would have to agrue that there are at least a few guitarists who have really defined a unique sound without copping Hendrix. I offer Andy Gill of Gang of Four, Sounds nothing like hendrix and you can hear alot of him in today's bands (franz Ferdinand in particular)

  • hendrix re-define the music

i think frusciante is the next guitar player to make the same..

    history! :)

    epics

  • i disagree, frusciante is good but hes not a household name, everybody knows hendrix but ALOT of people have never heard of JF, he is a great guitarist and has his own style but he isnt redefining music, thats a bit of an overstatement

  • John Mayer on the otherhand is being innovative...

  • to an extent, he hasnt done anything with blues that hendrix or stevie ray didnt do. yea mayer is one of my favorate slingers but hes nowhere on the level of Srv or Jimi. he is really creative with his jazzy stuff and acoustic rythm, and even with his picking, hes just an all around good guitar player, i like his soulful side in stuff. I especially like his "mr pitifull" cover and his "aint gonna give up on love" and "voodoo chile" he just jammed on those!

  • i will eat your mind it you ever talk about john mayer again

  • john mayer TRIO is awesome.... if you know anything about blues and Jimi Hendrix/... you would know that.....

  • im not saying john mayer is poop.

    john mayer is poop.

  • John Frusciante is also in a band called the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Jimi Hendrix was in a band called The Jimi Hendrix Experience. When you hear purple haze on the radio you hear, "thats jimi hendrix with purple haze, alriiight." when you hear breaking the girl ( a song john wrote the music for) the dj says, "alriight, breaking the girl by the red hot chili peppers yea". Frusciante is not hendrix, but i think my arguement is strong as to why everyone does not know who he is.

  • @quikdon You're comparing popularity based on name? Jimi's band had is own freaking name it it. People obviously assumed he's the guitarist. That's the same with pretty much every band.

  • @SubsistenceSC I'm not comparing popularity at all, I'm not sure where you got that idea. My point is simply, or was two years ago when I posted, that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are now a household name. If it were the John Frusciante Experience, a lot more people would know who he was. But who care, because they both rock and this song kicks ass.

  • awsome stuff great surprise to me, didnt know this piece had been done by RHCP, goood music, still puts Hendrix ahead of guitar playing.........

  • Hendrix invented Funk, so its fitting that the greatest Funk Punk band ever plays this

this song was made in 1968

not to mention, Jimi formed the first ever Funk band in 1969, the Band of Gypsies.

even Frusciante says that guitarists are, musically/spiritually, stuck where Jimi was in 1970...nobody has done anything for the soul of the guitar since him, at least not at that level.

he also considers him the greatest, he's become a better guitarist since taking Hendrixs approach on music.

  • dude... what about the meters who formed in the late 90s? or the funk brothers who first played together under a different title in 1959 and then as definitive funk throughout the 60s? and sly and the family stone who formed in 1966 and curtis mayfield? i dont in any way want to undermine jimi's clearly monumental part in the history of music, but its quite a claim to say he invented funk, just looking at the examples ive given above.

  • well Sly didn't start playing funk till the 70s, he had more of a Motown sound in the 60s. I haven't heard funk music before that. I can't say I've hard all of the funk brothers music, and they've played on a lot of records, so I don't know if they played funk.

I should have just said, Jimi basically anchored and fathered all 70s funk music.

  • actually, I did more research today, and people say it all started with James Brown on Papa's got a brand new bag, in 1965.

but Jimi was playing funk with both the Isleys, and Curtis Knight in 1964. the songs Testify and Hush Now

  • I disagree that hendrix "invented the funk" but i think he had a great influence on the fusion of funk and rock

  • funking! X-D

  • "Little Miss Lover" is signed like one of first examples of Funk Hard Rock. 'Axis Bold As Love'.

  • i duno man, times will change, hendrix took the guitar to a whole new level but whos to say someone else wont change that in the years to come? I never heard this cover before its saweeeeet

  • deadly pics!

  • duudee where did you get those pictures? can you comment me it?

  • Me too...!

  • great cover, they where the best at hendrix covers

  • nice pics...especially the one at 2:15 haha that pic is awesome

  • haha yeah it is, crazy Flea... Thanks for watching =)

  • i actually meant to say 2:16...but the 2:15 one is sweet as well. Great slide show

"We spend 3 hours on faking friends lessons...its quite the fuzzy sham really." haha

  • This off Mother's milk? I only knew about Fire, didn't know about this one. Frusciante makes the magic in the Peppers. I don't think what I've heard of their stuff without him measures up to the material done with John. I've got old guitar mags from 1992 with great pics of him and Flea and great interviews, John has been one of my favs since.

  • RHCP are the BOMB! I gotta use this drum beat on this song. Flea is a killer on bass! These guys ROCK so good! They have a chemistry thats unreal! Peace!

    Big R

  • stellar guitar playing, before he fucked up he's playing by being a junkie in 6 years, beautiful

  • great pictures

  • Thing is this about Hendrix and Frusciante.

Hendrix was more influential, creative, original and was just a genious, way before his time.

Frusciante mixes his idols into it, and adds his own flavor, and makes amazing music. Frusciante has his own style, which is not comparable to Hendrix. Hendrix didn't know music theory, Frusciante knows it like the back of his hand.

If we are comparing pure playing guitar, of course its debatable.

But creativity, originality and influence... no.

  • but also notice FunkyMonk said he thinks.. meaning his opinion. He didn't say its any type of fact.

jimi Hendrix is my favorite guitarist, and imo, the best, but i don't judge guitarists on technical skill. I judge them on style, tone, improv ability, creativity, originality, influence and so on...

Different people judge different guitarists by different standards. It will be hard pressed to find 2 people with the same 1-100 best guitarists list.

Let the man have his opinion. :)

  • And who would you give a place on that list?

  • Ranking musicians makes no sense to me, all your left with is a list. I judge music on how it makes me feel and listen to what I like. Everyone has their favourite musicians but fru and hendrix are both awesome in similar but different ways to me.

  • That's correct, I like them both.

  • Heres my list:

    Jimi Hendrix

    Billy Gibbons

    Jimi Hendrix

    Billy Gibbons

    Jimi Hendrix

    Billy Gibbons

    Should I say anymore?

  • Hendrix is a branch off the blues tree, (Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters), Frusciante is a branch off "Hendrix's" bluesy, rockish guitar. To say Hendrix didn't know music theory is completely inaccurate because he knew blues, he knew it so well he changed it into something that was his. Just like what Frusciante did with Hendrix's music. Without hendrix there wouldn't be the red hot chili peppers.

  • I'm sure Hendrix did know the Blues.

But Hendrix could not read music. Its pretty widely known that he doesn't know theory.

Actually, some people say that it might be a good idea not to learn theory because it might limit what you want to do, and use Hendrix as an example.

Its not that he was dumb to music or anything like that, the guy was a genious, and my favorite guitarist. BUt just because he knows the blues doesn't mean he knows theory.

  • Jimi Hendrix knows(knew) the guitar

  • without inventing the guitar. there woudn't be a jimi hendrix ;)

  • hahahahahaha..nice 1

  • "Without hendrix there wouldn't be the red hot chili peppers."

    soooooooooooooo true.

  • i think frusciante is now a better guitarist than hendrix, simply because he had more time to develop.

  • hahahahahhahhahaha is this a joke? Frusciante is good... but saying he's better than Hendrix? Nothing compares to Jimmy. His style was and is entirely his own and no one can replicate the sound and energy of his guitar live. Some can in the studio but NO ONE does it live... Especially not after a qualude, a bottle of whiskey, and a hit of acid.

  • you seem to admire hendrix alot...then you should learn how to spell his first name: jimi. and i didnt say that frusciante can copy him perfectly (but he learned his songs at age 11, i think he can do it quite good), of course hendrix is a big influence on many guitarists and of course he had a unique style and of course he played fucking good on guitar, but the point is that frusciante also has his own style and is very skilled. but the difference is, that he had time to grow as a musician.

  • he could develop his skills in music, he is influenced by so much music. john has much more range of music than jimi had. jimi died at age 27, he had no time to develop in such directions.

  • I love John and the chili's alot, but to say anyone is better than hendrix just isn't cool man...it's a fact that no one will ever be as good nor as original as he was..

  • the truth has been spoken

  • los amoooooooooooooooooooo

    i love theyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • what hendrix strong was is this

  • little miss lover...it says in the title

  • stfu he is still the best only he changed from style frusciante=god+amazing =P

he is the best guitarist all time from the beginning to the end :P

  • get off john's nuts... god you're a dumb fuck. john's a great guitarist but the best from beginning to end??? did he let you suck his dick or what???

  • no your mums clitt..boobhead!

i mean his life jimi was the best(i agree) but he 's is dead so i think now john is the best.and with all time from the beginning(the young one(more funk style) and the older john ( more rock / pop) to the end i mean like his whole career fuck head pussy learn to reed and improvise

  • god you're a fuckin crack up.... "learn how to reed" was that supposed to be a joke? you tell me to learn how to read and you don't even know how to spell it. dumb fuck

  • 1. i'm dutch

    2. i typed fast because i was playing a game.xD

    3. I don't under stand why you argue Like get of johns nuts & he let you suck his cock..(you have gay things up in your head maybe you are_) >?

  • you're first two reasons are good enough excuses for me... you're third was fuckin dumb... but anyways good cover by chili peppers. john's a great guitarist and puts alotta emotion into his music. would make hendrix proud

  • yea man i agree.

  • i prefer this dumms

    in this one..

    well that goes for saying

    CHad is god!

and then john does a awsome job.

Anthony was born to play this song

So thansk jimi for making it

but good on ya chili's :D

  • Frusciante's tone is great but Hendrix's is incredible. Seriously. Compare the two tracks.

  • A very worthy cover. The best RHCP Hendrix cover yet(that I've heard). John got Stevie Ray Vaughn close to replicating Jimi's Untouchable sounds.

  • Frusciante is the wah master...no one gets dirtier, funkier tones outta that thing

  • true dat

  • I love both of em...just that frusciante is very fond of jimis work. Thats why they did a few of his songs like fire and spanish castle magic.still love both versions tho. Theyre different But funky!

  • hendrix is must better. Anthonys voice doesn't fit this song and the drums sound a bit off, the snare is way to loud

  • Your English is "a bit off", Partner. "Must better"?? I mean...how the fuck you gonna' critique anything? Punk bitch hoe pussy cunt.

  • holy shit that is the funniest thing at the end there, Punk bitch hoe pussy cunt. way over the top but LMFAO. this version is better getting back on topic

  • ;-) Always nice to have "my work" appreciated. Heh heh

  • its nice to see that will ferrell has been committed all these years to his second life as the rhcp drummer.

  • yeah, right? i always thought that.

  • Those are the best peppers!

    best fucking period of them

    kickass song

  • man, the only thing keeping this from being better than the hendrix version is that jimi hendrix was the funkiest baddest person ever to walk this world

  • I <3333 this song, in fact it is my myspace name =D

speaking of myspace, does anyone know how to add this song onto it?

  • I don't use myspace, but I think you should copy and paste the embed code

  • wow, very cool rare pictures! where can I download this song?

  • Playing is good, singing sucks, the original is way better over all

  • Kick ass! Just as good as Jimi's version!

  • ahaha fuggin awesome

  • Guys, you're the best! Really, you're everything. <3

  • Ow my, Love it, awesome pics as well

  • awesome pics!

  • yeah, i think they're all Hendrix fans. Flea also has Jimi's face tattoed on his arm, and obviously Hendrix was a huge influence on John's guitar playing. They also covered "Crosstown Traffic", "Castles Made of Sand" and recently i've seen a video here on youtube of them playin a bit of "Hey Joe"

  • And "Fire", you forget it! :p

  • oh yeah, you're right!

  • Anthony is sex magic!he is magic!<3

  • this cover is fucking awesome

    AHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • where can i get this song to my ipod?!?!! please someone answer.. :I

  • where did you get all these pictures?!? they´re amazing! wow.. 8D johs was a hottie.

  • omfg..the pic at 1:21..first off is that john or ant? cause it kinda looks like john and than it kinda looks like lovely anthony..however who ever it is..there extremely unhealthy looking and too skinny. they have that "herion look" to them. look at the chest. wow. scary. and if its johnnyy he was blonde at one point? haha funny:-))

  • woow they all look great in these pics here! and i mean they all look young. but anthony looks very young in some of the pictures. great job.

  • If You Put You're Blood Sugar Sex Magic, upsidedown in your CD Player, This! is what you'll hear, my friends!

  • great cover... amaaaazing pics

  • nice thanks for posting this, I've really wanted to check out the hendrix covers they did.

  • This is a Hendrix song, don't get too excited, although I do think it is a SICK rendition of the song.

  • Funking unreal! heavy and bold and reeks with talent

  • awesome song

  • unreal

jonny just has it all down so well

  • what exactly is a "b-side"

could someone please fill me in

i mean i kno what a b-side is, but rhcp's albums arent double sided, are they?

  • it's songs that were recorded for the album, but didn't make the final cut. They usually include them on single CDs and the like. it comes from the auld days, when the good songs would be on the A-side, and the others on the b-side. That's my understanding of it anyway.

  • I love all those be sides i have them all i think lol! RHCP=best band ever funking great

  • man good song. where did you get those pics?

  • FUCKING MINT!

  • maddest song.

  • at 1:35, what kind of bass is that?

  • that's a musicman stingray, fretless.i think the photo was taken for a BassPlayer interview. flea used a lot the stingray until 1997 when he designed his Flea bass with Modulus

  • Thank you, groovyw53, I was also wondering.

  • no problem, thank you for this cool video!

  • look it up on limewire or ares

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE RHCP ♥

    nice pics :D

  • awesome rhcp 4ever

  • I totally agree about RHCP 4ever. I'm glad you liked the video =)
