Actually that is not true. The 155 mph limit is part of a gentleman's agreement between many German manufacturers. The limiter can be legally taken off (by AMG or BMW M for expample without voiding the warranty, or by a regular mechanic who by doing so voids it). Japan also had a similar agreement re horsepower. Lexus broke that agreement with the IS-F and LFA.

i HaD A C 32 AMG T ( in norway) (very expencive) with c 55 exaust, it was an extreme sound tht all 32 owners should listen too : ) Never heard like it. insane sound

Actually it has been mechanical modified by AMG factory in Germany, and since you are allowed to drive as fast as your car can go in Germany it is legal :)
