I have been drumming for 26 years, and this guy is a-friggin-mazing. Its enough to keep a beat over multiple drums, much less DJ your own tracks while you're doing it. To the guy who said Steve Gadd isn't theatrical, or doesn't have insane fill, hasn't watched or listened to Gadd the Godd much.
I prefer groove over the flashy, theatrical, "insane fill" type drumming. That's why Steve Gadd, David Garibaldi, and KJ Sawka are three of my favorite drummers. They are no better or worse than the Neil Pearts, and Mike Portnoys of drumming.. It's just that drummers that stay deep in the pocket for what seems like hours is what I think great drumming is all about.
I was lucky enough to see this guy live when he came to dallas. He brought the house down and blew everyone out of the water when he began his set. Its an intense experience and I highly suggest that you catch him live when you can.
WoW your a GENIUS on drum,i envy you so much lol.I play DnB myself and you are the best ive seen, thank you for the inspiration and the perfect musik you give to us.
I really don't care how other people dance. In fact im not watching this video because it was titled "dnb dancing." No im watching it because its kj sawka. People need to shut up and get over their superiority complexes. "oh yeah well we dance better here in so and so" and the town or country you're dissing probably says the exact same thing. Its really dumb and not even the focus of the video. The focus is kj sawka kicks ass, watch him play, enjoy it and then move on with your life.
I know tons of kids that know how to dance to d&b. Heres the problem. The west coast is beautiful and most who like electronic are light and fluffy kids who dance like it's the Grateful Dead. Go to Philly, Chicago, New York or even at Mid-west raves I used to go to and kids know how to dance. It's not hard...follow the snares!
I really wanted to knock you but it's not you're fault. I just hope you are not a producer or aspiring musician. In all music you follow the kicks mostly..or the timing. But in D&B you follow the snares. You'll learn. Please refrain from being a jerk.
did foh sound for KJ sawka vs Dj James Christopher @ Cirquinox this summer. Prolly one of the sickest sets....if you like also check out these live electronica/dnb "surrounded by ninjas" "Eoto" and "Chip Chop"
oh lord, that break at the very end, quite a serious unleashing of the breakage. lol. classic. man, I was working with this drummer about 4 years ago, he was properly on that fire trip. We went to a countryside rehearsal studio to work, and we were doing like 8, 10 hours a day. He couldn't drive back! He had to go for 6 months physiotherapy from the injuries LOL. careful people...
worship!!!!!!!!!!!!! hemaruha sawka hemaruha sawka...... you are the chosen one. i will follow you for as long as your energy permits in this field of music. god your good. thanks waxchard for this channel. waxchard rules. (ill make it known) kind regards tom
What I will never understand is why the fuck people will always compare KJ Sawka to someone like Neil Peart just based on what is displayed. I mean, fuck, he's doing A LOT, and what the so-called "music geniuses" out there fail to realise is that the drums in DnB are just meant to be grooves, so there's no place in the music for theatrics like most rock and jazz drummers. They also fail to realise that KJ Sawka is OBVIOUSLY skilled in the jazz genre, and he shows it in his grooves.
Agree completely but such is Youtube. Everyone has their stupid little opinion and they actually think people give a rats ass. Even I am guilty of it. ;)
That's right. Kent is a very cool guy, he was just over at my house a little over a week ago. And Kevin is an amazing drummer, the crazy thing is he can keep doing these ridiculously awsesome beats when he's programming his computer. He isn't even paying attention and he's doing beats 100 times better than what I can do when I'm totally focused!
Oh, sorry that was supposed to be a responce to Savateboy's comment.. Something went wrong I guess... me probably :D BTW the guy on the video is true master!
haha, ecstasy will do that to you! nobody dances like that sober thats for sure. sawka kicks all kinds of ass though, wish i had a fraction of this talent
Hey Jenlar! I thank you for checkin out Kev's video's! I'm glad you like them - I sure do! :) I love him too of course. He just got back from the UK - awesome! Did a nice gig in Canada again - he is sooo good!
This guy has to be one of the best drummers around right now. Anyone interested in great drumming, then (if you haven't already) check out clips by Jason Bowld, (Pitchshifter, This Is Menace).
