very well done, I am playing piano for a friend of mine on this piece, and I'm excited to do it, it's very passionate. until the vivace, then it's just fun... Very well done. Maybe I'll require your assistance on the rach 3 some day, when I get around to it.
Actually, this recording was made for an application to a summer program. It wasn't an official concert. But while I was recording, some people wandered in (and I perform better with an audience anyway). So that's why there are only about three people clapping. :)
Caeli Smith is playing "live" - not a doctored up video. Someone had to take the time to post. This is a difficult piece for the pianist, because its first sections have a flexible rhythm - so it is too dim, generally. I've performed this piece, and Caeli (Alicelizard) does a very good job - and has a real knack for sensitive interpretation. I like it. No, the last part does not have to go faster - I mean,.... my computer can play faster even, so what's the point? Faster is no longer "better"...
For Nathanbob12-where does she lay claim to be a prodigy? David Oistrakh was not a prodigy either, he learned his mastry of the violin by practice and discipline. Violinists such as this sometimes make the most exceptional masters as they are the most disciplined in their technique and training. When there is critism such as this you can be certain there is something in which to envy. Keep up the hard work, this is a difficult piece for multiple reasons-fantastic job!
I happen to know her and she has grown TREMENDOUSLY over the years. She has been on From the Top like over half a dozen times. She is one of the most incredible people I know.
Before you come in here and insult Caeli use your brain and try to post something nice you fucktard.
wow, I love that Song, It almost makes me cry everytime i hear it. You play beautiful. I love your allegratto it is quite marvelous, Very clear. If you put a little bit of speed will sound WOnderful. I don't have any words. You are Awesome
I dont get it. So many people harshly criticize without having a video to back up what they say. If you are gonna criticize at least have something that proves that you have some ability on an instrument, preferably the instrument that you are criticizing. She did a great job in the Sarasate, Its a VERY difficult piece to play and she did very well. bravo
It is the heart, the passion the feeling that goes in, that is most important. Musicians may tend to get too fixated on outer technical stuff.
Also, even if people can play better, if their heart was better they would not harshly criticize, but be grateful for every soul that strives to bring beauty to the world.
It's because they're a bunch of loosers who barely know the tunning of te violin strings. They just think themselves "superior" because they have watched thousands of violin interpretation DVD's because their mental capacity does not allow them to understand the feeling and sence this girl and many other artist gave to this interpretation which I may say it's amazing.
What kind of mute are you using, sliding wire or detachable ebony type? If it is a clamp-on ebony mute that pinches the bridge then where do you "park" it. It appears effortless when the mute is produced. But I am not a musician. Maybe the mute is taken off!
Again, I like to listen to this. Thanks. I wish this performance to be somehow preserved in perpetuity, however that is spelled, like the best realife performance of, say, Enrico Ceruso, however his name is spelled.
Not bad. Work on your thirds as they are always out of tune. Feel the passion in this piece. You have to play it with emotion and fire. You seem disconnected from the audience and your musicality suffers because of it. Work on communicating your gift to the audience. Remember you are playing for them not for yourself. Keep up the good work.
she could be playing for herself, I am something of a performer myself. I have asked myself more than once, "why play in front of an audience, if I'm the only one who can care on a truly important level?" Now I don't claim to be a unique talent, or even very talented at all, but I don't think I'd ever care about conveying anything to the audience before myself, perhaps your right and that might be where my musicality suffers, but this is an absolutely superb performance...
amazing... im speechless.... I can only dream to on day play as good!!

I don't know much about music, but I've always loved this song, it's sound is so beautiful, armonic, marvelous.
And it doesn't seems to be an easy piece to play, so I think she did really great, really sensitive..

overrated violinist. You are not a prodigy... There are 8 year old asian kids that can play this piece better than you
nathanbob12 4 years ago
what do you mean she is not a prodigy? Just because she's not five years old???? She played it well, techinically and musically.

She's a prodigy, future Virtuossa.
There are 8 year old kids playing violin, but you cannot compare them...Sorry man but you are indeed an asshole because of what you said...

Exactly. Anyone who does the Zigeunerweisen well deserves an applause by everyone.
It just matters on how well you perform it, style, flair, intonation, and technique. It's a hard piece.

I usually like your other recordings but i dont really like this one.
The slow part is quite good but the ending is just too slow, its ment to be faster.
Anyways, probably you can play it perfectly right now, this video is over 1 year old.

for the begining expressive part I think that are
some lento part act so intentionally,
just not very comfort.
In fact that the lento part have many chance
to express youself,to magnetize listener,
and the truth is ,she can't do it very well.
The most part make me confuse is the allegro part,
I prefer that she would play it in a more more fast
speed, but not just give out sound one by one,
it destroy this music,s rhymic very much......
