Doctherooster (what a great nic!) if you had been there, you would have witnessed one of the best performances ever by Ely. It was one of those rare magical nights when the performer and the audience are just bouncing energy off of each other.
I think i captured some of that in this short video and will be forever glad i was able to film it and have it to view again and again.
ELY has released a new acoustic CD called 'Live Cactus!' with JOEL GUZMAN. These two songs as well White Freight Liner Blues (one of my faves) are on it. If you're a fan, this one is a MUST HAVE! If you love this video, you will love the CD!
One of Joe Ely's fans should post his version of "The Road Goes on Forever" from his Love and Danger album--far and away the best version of the song I've heard.
Huesofgreen, someone has. Check out fellow member brettdillon - he uploaded a live performance video of Joe singing it with Joel Guzman and Lloyd Maines.
Thanks, but that's only a portion of the song, and the audio quality is poor. If you get a chance, listen to the cut on Love and Danger. It's a knockout--a true work of musical art.
That Ely-Guzman combo is about as powerful as you can get. Ely has captured the true essence of "Where is my Love?" better than he's ever done it before. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for letting us see this.Joe is one of the most greatest hidden talents going.Hope he comes to West Michigan some day."Are you listeng lucky" Is my favorite.
European fans, take note; ELY WILL BE PERFORMING IN ITALY AND FRANCE NEXT WEEK. Here's the schedule. July 22, 2007 Osnago Italy festa di Liberazione di Osnago Joe Ely with Joel Guzman
July 23, 2007 Predore Italy Villa Lanza Joe Ely with Joel Guzman
July 26, 2007 Forli Italy Piazza della Misura
Strade Blu Joe Ely with Joel Guzman
July 28, 2007 Crappone France Country Rendezvous Joe Ely Band
Oh yeah, wolfgirl, and they were smokin' that night. I will always, always remember that show as one of the most uplifting and wonderful music moments i have ever experienced. Joel Guzman and Ely were so musically in synch that night that i'd have sworn they were siamese twins.
You're very welcome! Believe it or not, this was my first time seeing Joe Ely perform. I was blown away and i have not looked back since. I've seen him every time he has been in NYC either alone or with the Flatlanders. Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock are no slouches either. :)
It's me, i just want to add that this was my first time ever using a cam. There was a huge crowd the night Joe Ely played and there was that electric connection between the audience and the performer - pure magic. If you like music, you know what i'm talking about. I hope you enjoy this video. Joe Ely and the Flatlanders are amazing.
what an awesome show- wish i could have seen it in person.
