  • LOL 0:04 someone whistles a high concert F

  • the way the tubas put their horns up in this encore set up is amazing!! I watched them in houston and you could hear the tubas clanking as they hit the guys' shoulders! it was sick

  • damn when did they come to houston. I missed it

  • 0:29-0: 35

    Sick Ripple!

  • Definitely agree!!

  • someone yelled out "PHANTOM!" at :12

  • i have this recorded from a different angle

  • alot of people think that BD is being hated on because they are soo succesful but I honestly think they were overrated in 2008 I LOVED 96, 99,01, and 03...05 and 08 are my least favorite programs...also I agree that Crown should have been higher ...if their drumline was cleaner I would have scored them ahead of BD

  • Crown was good.......really good.......REEEEAAAALLLLLYYYY good loved their show.

I wasn't a big fan of BD 08 either, however i still don't think Crown could've touched them. Even if they cleaned up the drums BD was still cleaner in other aspects. I would've put Crown ahead of Cavaliers tho

  • Are you joking? If you saw all 12 minutes of the '03 show, it was awesome. '08, '05, ehh nothing great.

  • I said I LOVED 96 99 01 and 03

  • Oh sorry, I misinterpreted :p

  • 04!!!

  • blue devils are good i mean really good but they seem to "showy" like they have to better then everyone like there drum breack they just look like dumb jerks and the break wasnt even hard. I think the Cavs should have one there show was much more impressive

  • More grammatical errors please!

  • LOL

  • i love you eric.... best trumpet player ever!!!!!!!!

    you owned fire and ice..

  • The Blue Devils A went to our high school on 7/4/08

  • The blue devils group go to my highschool a lot in the summer as well, it is so awesome to watch them practice!

  • BD's show was great but I find it hard for anybody to say that Phantom did not win this year. They dialed up the emotion and the energy each night of finals and if that moment when the drum major is speared did not give you chills then you need to check your vitals. 2008 was a great set of shows from 1-12 there was not a single show where I said that was not enjoyable. What a great year.

  • When are you going to post the long and original video as recorded by any news agency? Anybody?

  • What some people don't know is that the percussion judge finals night hated BD. Every competition that BD was where that judge was judging, their percussion score dropped. Then the next show it would be back up. I still maintain that BD won. Regiment should have come in 3rd behind Crown and BD.

  • wow, ok i agree crown should have been higher up but phantom won, they earned it. bd had a flashy show but it wasnt fun to watch like 10 times. phantoms show never got old to me.. i saw them this exact night and i knew they where going to win.

  • 2 shafts in one year....

  • Ok to all you smart people who think they know why BD didn't win the championship look at how they stacked up to everyone else. They took 1st in visual and 2nd in general effect. But they were 5th in percussion and 4th in music. Phantom only won by a fourth of a point so it was really not that bad on bd's part considering they lost music and percussion captions. I personally was goin for Cavaliers but what about Crown? Where in the world did they come from?! 4th place. Congrats to all corps.

  • I was at DCI in Denton, and the Blue Coats owned them.

  • That is true, the Blue Coats did own in Denton, it was one of the best Blue Coat corps I've seen, but for some reason they didn't do that well at finals. I, personally like Blue Coats more but I was simply stating I'm proud of Crown for placing in the top 5.

  • i like the bluecoats alot, they dont get the credit they deserve, you know?

  • Truth

  • They should have won finals, they totally got cheated out of a championship again.

  • Why didntt you win!!!!!!!!!?

  • Aek, I was rushing back to my bus because they said they'd leave if we didn't show up on time. We ended up waiting a half hour for the directer to get back from watching this encore...I was pissed, Luckily I had seen in a few weeks before XD. Didn't someone take quite a bad fall at thise particular compo? [Stanford]

  • that would be Geo the soloist

  • thats funny i have this same video from a different angle

  • i know you do... you posted the same comment twice :]

  • mah bad

  • haha nice, a little Gordon Goodwin after that latin section.

  • i was there :]

  • i was at that show...

its never about the show, just how well its done.

  • this is so "absurd."

  • Blue devils won yesterday at southwestern championships, freaking awesome show

  • In today's dci world, to win, you must be cadets, cavaliers, or bluedevils. oh and this just in.. now carolina crown is added to that list as well! ;-)

  • HEY WHAT ABOUT PR!!!!!! though i do agree on the other choices =]

  • AHAHA Phantom won World so you cant say shit anymore Bloo about not including them . (=

I still wanted Blue devils to take the championship

    GO SCVC THOUGH .

1st in Open, beat BDB .

  • theres some controversy to the win for SCVC... a percussion judge who scored them miraculously high and screwed over everyone else... and just so happens to be SCV alumni... who also is know for his dislike of the blue devil technique...

But, to be honest, SCVC is happy they won, but don't think they should have.

    Anyways congrats to SCVC.

  • THis show is revolutionary because it has variety and it is executed only the way the Blue Devils can execute it, perfectly. The Mandarins are an ok corp but just because they have a "better" show doesnt mean they should win

  • I'm sorry, how is this show revolutionary?

  • harryballsonya... You are looking at 12 time DCI World Champion. Do you have a gold medal and a ring? You have no clue what you're talking about. Are you a drum corps wanna be?

  • I agree with you tplunkett3. BD is still undefeated. Mandarin had a better show? you got to be kidding me. Wow! Mandarin is at the bottom of the ranking and Pacific Crest beat them 4 times in California.

  • i saw them saturday they were amazing! took 1st =]

  • this show gets on my nerves. WGI gimmicks and music that is really uncomfortable to listen to.

for shame blue devils, for shame.

  • i agree... i think the mandarins had a better show...... of corse, i know most of the people in the mandarins XD.

but seriously, the blue devils show this year wasnt the greatest... it was good but there maxed out now, and these other corps are probably going to pass them this year.. i think the phantom regiment will win it this year.. there show is great!

  • Mandarins FTW!

  • yes, there show "The River" already is on my IPod... i recorded it live at there last practice before there first show. ill post it on youtube soon, keep a look out...

  • wow, serious? the Blue Devils are doing some of the most amazing things that any drum corps has ever done. This might go down as one of the most revolutionary shows ever. and by the way, check scores, NOBODY is catching them. The just 2 pointed phantom.

  • this is true, they are doing some great things this year, but they need work. there music is fantastic, so is there show's concept. but it needs work, the blue devils did win because they are the best corps right now so they work very hard, and for right now. they are the best, your only as good as your last show, and for right now the blue devils are in the lead, but Phantom is very close and as i watched there show they had some stuff to work on but the devils have it almost completely done.

  • when i say needs work, the idea needs work..

  • The mandarins SUCK!!! Are you fucking kidding me? go back to high school you fuckin idiot...

Maxed out? even in their recent bad year,2005, they still didn't drop out of the top 4...

They are the current world champion, having 12 titles.. how many titles do the mandarins have? or better question.. When will the Mandarins break 80 again... 4 years and counting...

  • Since when does the number of championships determine how enjoyable a corps/show is? Frankly, I like the Mandarins more often than I do the Cavaliers.

I thought this years' BD show was incredibly gimmicky, and they used a lot of the free-form stuff to mask it. Personally, I thought it was let down by BD.

Sure, opinions can't be wrong, but that doesn't mean you have to agree with them.

PS - the music from Sweeney Todd is painful to listen to in any incarnation (even corps).

  • i agree, i think it degenerated a little bit this year, as opposed to how much i liked it from like 03-06

    07-08 kinda let me down.

  • Really? I thought it was really fun to listen to because of all the little different things going on. I'll admit, though, parts of it are kinda gimmicky. If anything, I say this show deserves to win more than Winged Victory.

  • your username gets on my nerves...

dude.. DCI is all about WGI gimmicks and music that is cut and pasted. Every corps does this, and nowadays everything has to be at 210 bpm because Speed wins...

its not just BD its EVERY corps.. you can thank the Cadets, Star of Indy, and more recently Cavaliers for this...

  • ok so have you even seen the mandarins show this year? they have been doing better then there past years. there working towards getting up there, am i saying there going to get a title? no.

and also i didn discredit the devils. they are the leaders and they have an inovative show this year but i dont want to see this every year. it was entertaining but it will get old fast. so dont blame before you know facts..

go jack off to the Blue devils again...

  • I actually just did. Not this year, '05, but it still counts I think.

  • I was there and the show was incredible except for the trumpet player that slipped and fell on his face. that part sucked.

  • lol a drummer fell right before him to lol. was it at the begining?

  • this is the music to sweeney todd?

  • Yeahdude. <3

  • Ahhh I was there!Totally sick of their bassline!Fasho.Yea,but honestly,Phantom and Blue Devils are very close this year.Quite impressive shows they got.

    =)

  • To a certain extent yes I agree, but taken to an extreme it makes for a boring show. If every corps watered down their show I wouldn't be a fan. This is a good show and while it's actually less safe then last years show I found myself still sitting front and center listening to that encore and expecting more. And where are the melodies? Seems like the moment they start developing a motif they've already moved on to something else.

  • I agree. I think they had a lot of ideas they wanted to put into the show but couldn't decide which ones, so they went with all of them. No time spent developing themes and no transitions.

  • Anybody else here think that the blue devils are kinda "playing it safe" as far as the horn book goes? There's some technical stuff in there, but a lot of long whole notes too. They're prolly the cleanest out there for that reason but it gets a little boring for the listener in my opinion. I mean, all of these corps can play power chords. Sure Phantom wasn't as clean, but they played a ton of notes. The Blue Devils are so tallented, I just wish they took more chances.

  • uhhh its not about how hard it is what you play its about how good you play it. who cares if you play a shitload of notes if it sounds like crap you will score bad and i think everyone will agree with me on that

  • alot of judges give better marks for execution even though it might be dirty. attempting more difficult things gets better marks then staying safe.

  • I was there to, and their show was amazing. 'Specially when they spun tha bass drums. Hela craazy. Their drums were hela sick this year too, looked like Blue Devils B sky blues ones a couple years back. I met scott in tha lot too (X . Their break was hela sick too and their mallet runs were sick . I left right before it starteed, and i regret, but I heard tha recording of this hecka times on that interview wif dave gibbs . But yeah , nice .

  • Their actual performance was awesome. I was there and I know one of the drum majors.

  • i was also there, do you play an instrument and how do you know the drum major

  • I know Jon Duldulao, one of the drum majors for BD 'A.' He and I have been friends since I was in middle school. I used to play an instrument, but since I moved to Florida, I lost interest.
