What was the Boston Tea Party all about?....Oh yeah....our founding fathers (a bunch of rich, fat white guys) that didn't want to pay taxes... CHEAP TRICK ROCKS!
I saw them open up for KISS and they were just Monster Good. Didn't even wanna see KISS after that. This Album is my favorite because it's aggressive and raunchy, they played alot of these songs. CREME magzn was pushing them and there they were, long hair, short hair and loud. I love them, they were best to see back in 78'. Peterson just used a Gibson T-Bird bass and it was bad-ass.
We didn't defeat Japan and Germany by borrowing from China. It was taxes that bought bullets and bombs. The US is a country because of the taxes paid by the colonists and the French. Taxes paid for the Civil War too. What language would you be speaking if it wasn't for taxes?
@franklapore Actually, "Mr. Heath" is taken straight from the lyrics of the Beatles song Taxman. The lyrics of Taxman at one point go, "Don't ask me what I want it for (uh-uh, Mr. Wilson), if you don't want to pay some more (uh-uh, Mr. Heath".
Yeah, no doubt their first was their best. I met them at an album signing in Atlanta in '78. They put on a great show too. Rick was such a great songwriter. He knew how to take what worked in so many other's work and adapt it to a grab bag that far surpassed anyone he interpolated. Pure genius. Robin's voice was awesome. I miss the late 70's.
@crackatoa Roosevelt was president at the start of WW2,Wilson at the start of WW1, Truman the Korean War, and Kennedy and Johnson Vietnam War. Polk was President for the Mexican- American War, all Democrats
One of my favorite choruses in history - it's all about the bassline there. You ever notice there's a single organ note buried in the mix that runs through the entire song? Really cool.
Yeah, absolutely. We should eliminate government entirely. I'm sure Dupont, General Motors, and IBM will step up and foot the bill for public schools, infrastructure, research, law enforcement, and public health.
Terrific song. They're first album is brilliant. I guess this song was inspired by the Beatles song considering they mention the band name in the song and the chorus lyrics are almost the same as the beatles' song

Not inspired by the beatles in the least its more of a play on words. Beatles have a song named Taxman but no Mr Heath

they quote the Beatles as an homage, the song is about working up from nothing and facing your foes, not necessarily a taxman...dig it. Cheap Trick.
teebol 2 years ago
yeh it is about a taxman, its songs like this that get cheap trick listed as a punk rock band, stop trying to be so fucking mediphorical.
