What a great performance. She just slowly walks out, flashes a genuine smile when the applause starts, then simply stands there and sings a beautiful rendition of a wonderful song. Beats the hell out of all the bouncing around, stylizing, and theatrical hype that accompany most performers these days.

This is a great Australian song. In fact, for many years we have tried to make 'Waltzing Matilda' our national anthem. Its actually about a man who steals a sheep and then kills himself when law enforcement try to arrest him. Yes, it's a bit random, but our nation originated as the island of convicts - I guess we love it so much because, even though thats how our country began, we have come so far today. It's more of a reflection... All Aussies hold this song close to our hearts :)

@TheLSK I agree, "Waltzing Matilda" should be the official Australian national anthem. It's a classic folk tune, it's easy to sing, the whole world identifies it with Australia, and it can sound very stately and dignified when played slowly. The actual anthem, "Advance Australia Fair," just doesn't have any soul. It sounds as if it was written by a computer.

WHY did the video just cut out like that???????? I didnt c the opening/closing ceremonies of the paralympics on TV; but, i saw Kylie's perfromance (maybe pt2?). Never saw or heard of her doing rendition of WM... AWESOME job!

None of the Acts in the Paralympics or Olympics openning ceremonies were lip-sync'd. I was in two selective choirs that preformed within 5 metres of the stages at both events and had to go through sound-checks for both events.

There was however a 1.6 second delay in the sound system from when the Singer(s) used their voice to when it'd be played either via the stadium's sound system or via TV/Radio. Thats fairly common for stadiums of that size.
