How much does this affect weight distribution, Polar Moment of inertia, center of gravity and therefore the handling.? Seems it will really push in the corners with that long mass of just the cranks alone . Are you sure you want to race this thing?
How does the the transmission of the 2 motors work together? Also how is the driveline connected? some kind of chain system? Wish you would post more of the mechanical system.
nice concept, but wrong. the transmissions are still connected, in fact you can independently shift each engine (in case you miss shift, or are running on one engine). after each of the transmissions some models go into a transfer case which then feeds power to the rear wheels. while most have one engine powering the front wheels and another powering the rear.

I'm pretty sure they did not couple the engines and they are still using the motorcycle transmissions.

Oh and I know someone who has two ZX12 engines in a punto. One in the front and one in the back. (for grass track racing)

the bike gearbox would obviusley be removed, the engines would be connected via crankshafts, the out put than is connected to a diffrent gearbox,

I see, like we use on multi-engine pulling tractors. Very Nice.

Did you say that these are now common? I see that the engines are offset somewhat, How to they hookup ?
Ductapecrazyglue 4 years ago
You can get a 2-1 gear box, basically 2 inputs to a single output. Both or either engine can run at any time.
Bloody clever piece of kit.
mikex101 3 years ago
couldn't you just use a differential. It has two inputs and one output, or two outputs and one input depending on what way you look at it.
