  • I thank God someone adopted him. It's so sad these beautiful shelties sometimes end up abused, abandon and homeless. I so much love this breed. Thank you so much for finding him a loving home he deserves.

  • what a beautiful video.... search for "optivizor and novaguard" in google. There is a facebook fan page helping to support blind dogs and dogs in recovery. The optivizor can really help these special members of our family.

  • When I read that h was apparently abandoned, that broke my heart. Why the crap would anyone abandon a little dog?????

  • thanx for rescuing Gavin. Even blind, deaf or mute dogs deserve happiness like all the others. that realy touches me.

  • Well done!!!

  • All of our furkids were rescues: 3 Rotties and 4 Shelties. Bless you for adopting Gavin!

  • Who would ever let such a beautiful animal go must really be cruel.

  • Thank you for rescuing Gavin. He is so beautiful!

We have a Sheltie, Buddy, that we happily adopted through a Rescue Group.

It took him a long time to trust people due to the abuse he had suffered.

We love him so very much! (And he is so very spoiled!)

  • God knows I love shelties, and this broke my heart when I saw this. I'm so happy he has a family now. Why was a beautiful dog like that in animal control? He seems so sweet. I have a sheltie myself, and he is about to be 6 years old this coming august. he looks similar to Gavin.

  • Someone found him wandering in an area that is mostly cornfields. The paper did an article on him with a huge photo and nobody came to claim him. Our rescue had me go get him from animal control and get him to one of our foster homes. It's been almost a year now & this poor little guys owners never did go looking for him.

If you ever lose an animal, make sure to check your local shelters, animal control, and breed rescue groups.

Make sure you check out my update video on Gavin too!

  • I'm so happy he has found a home.

  • Gavin has a new home and family. His fate at an animal control would probably have been euthanasia since so few people go to animal controls to adopt dogs, especially those with special needs. Hopefully someday this will change as people see dogs as great as Gavin.

  • Note: He was barking at the wall, and would stare at it for long periods while we were there.

At times he seemed like he could see, if even just a little, but Indiana Sheltie Rescue sent him to a veterinary ophthalmologist who confirmed that he had retinal degeneration, had no vision at all, and might have never been able to see. Dogs adjust so well, they don't feel as helpless, or sorry for themselves like humans.
