  • 1:30 dam that looks sexy in slow mo...no homo

  • Dr J didn't care if you were 6'8" or 7'4", your ass was going to get dunked on!!

  • Take that Blake Griffin!

  • DR. J FOR EVER!!! I AM GLAD THAT NBA HAD SUCH A PLAYER AS YOU!!!

  • My only complaint with No. 1 is the commentary. Chick Hearn is great, I get it, but I was 15 years old, watching this game live on the Prism broadcast . (I'm from Philly.) The hometown announcers did the call justice. Hearn is a Lakers homer, and was half-comatose when Doc made Cooper look silly. Let Chick call Magic's fast-break wizardry; Doc needs the hometown soundtrack.

  • You pause the video at the 1:33 mark, and then you sit back and have a drink, listen to some Coltrane, and you know what ballet is, without ballet dancers. That form, in midair, is balletic. Grace, in basketball shoes.

  • Why is it that the shot that requires the least skill it the most exciting? Don't get me wrong, Dr. J is one of the best and a first rate person to boot. Yes, guys of my generation didn't need to go gangsta after scoring. The Ipod generation reflects an inferior mutation in our species.

Watch the dunk on Walton. The Doc clearly used his left hand to keep BW from blocking the shot.

  • I like how he doesn't get all puffed up, shout, or flail around after he dunks it like players today. He just lets his dunks speak for them selves and runs back down court knowing you just died a little inside.

  • Wow the dunks on Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Walton was NASTY!!!!!

  • The way Dr J could palm the ball is the most impressive to me these days, & obviously ppl that big don't move like that either.

  • @bowense7en Vince Carters hands were 9.5 inches from palm to tip of middle finger and from pinky to thumb.Doc's where 11 inches.Literally the size of some baseball gloves.Check out his layup at 16:30 in the 2nd qtr of the 1983 allstar game.(It's on that adopt kids from nepal site)He comes down the right side, cuts left, past Kareem, does a finger roll and with those huge hands manages to get the correct english on it..Aft 30 yrs still finding little things Doc did that mere mortals wouldn't try!

  • Dr.J=The Revolution Of Dunks

  • Comment removed

  • This is what I call a dunk so I give it a lot of stars!

  • dr.j was the best ever because he operated on guys

  • The originator but Vince Carter is the greatest.

  • Nice dunks, but Vince is (was) better. He's the greatest dunker of all time.

  • @chemixaL No he's not. Watch this video and you'll see the greatest dunker of all time. It looks like he's flying.

    /watch?v=ocZByq9lVOc

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores No james white sucks ass. I can make lay ups with no defender on me all day doesn't make me the greatest ever at lay ups. Show me some in game highlights from J white then we'll have something to talk about.

  • the top1 dunk imo is the best dunk ever

  • Dr. J was posterizing people before posterizing was even a word.

  • Wow!!!!

  • such a creative player

  • OMG!! 10 NBA's dunks without travel!!!

  • #6 would have been a technical foul in today's NBA

  • This guy told me If I built a team I want Jordan and I said you can have Jordan because I have Dr. J and we will see who wins that but I would not bet against a team with Dr. J in his prime even if you have Jordan.

  • Oh Jordan and Magic Johnson fans so easily forgot about THE MAN the one and only The good Doctor of the NBA. DR J. This is why kind of laugh when people get mad about guys saying Kobe or Lebron James are the Next big Things in the NBA and the Jordan fan get mad like there was never a before Jordan Era. Because THERE WAS and Dr. J was nothing like the NBA had ever seen before. Jordan was the 90s version of Dr. J.

  • Will i.Am was in #8

  • best pretty stile dunk ever, perfect one handed dunks

  • GOAT

  • AMAZING.

  • J was thee best-----very modest, down-to-earth individual who let his play do all the talking and bragging------hear that, LeBron and Kobe??

  • The cradle ftw

  • Still the Man after all these years!!!

  • the Doctor is in!!! always!

  • It bears repeating: This list is a very small portion of Doctor J's repertoire. Doctor J's 1975-1976 ABA champ New York Nets challenged the NBA's 1975-1976 champ Boston Celtics to see who was the world champ. J was so good that the NBA and Celts refused to play them! The Nets were the world champs in my book. I don't recall a league or team so scared of a player that they refused to play them. Despite the NBA trashing J and the ABA as inferior he and the others proved the ABA was superior.

  • jimmy hendrix can play basketball too :D

  • 1:41! Ha Ha Ha! theie so high in the air the laker has to duck!

  • Love the dunks. Hate the random audio from completely different dunks by completely different players. Why the NBA insists on doing this I don't know.

  • I imagined these being better

  • Yes, #1 is the best ever with the style, grace, and swift approach, and then cuffing the ball from the hip to rise from far away and power through to the hoop.

  • @holzg01

VC dunked over a 7'1 guy.

  • era of the afros

  • i think DR.J can posterize anyone in the NBA.

  • just ordered his jersey of mitchellandness for 100 bucks soooo excited!

  • The basketball ring was too rigid at that time

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, that last dunk is sexy.

  • everybody knows scalabrine's the best dunker in NBA history

  • @Tazzarinaa so true

  • Yea the dunk Julius made in the last shown here against the Lakers is the best spontaneous in game dunk I've ever seen, the way he palmed, cupped the ball continuously throughout in one hand then finishing the dunk so strongly in game play was quite an impressive show of athleticism. The Blake Griffin throw down is up there, but it would be difficult not to vote this Erving dunk #1 all time. "Julius the King".

  • JULIUS ERVINGS NO.1 DUNK ID THE BEST DUNK OF ALL TIME.

  • @deshar I agree! The #1 dunk is the BEST dunk of all time!

  • @deshar no Vince Carter jumping over the 7'2 frenchmen is the best dunk of all time

  • I think Dr.J is THE best dunker of all time. Michael Jordan was great too, but J had the factor of being extra special.

  • 0:46 Take that referee !!! lol ......... killer crossover though

  • #1 rock the baby to sleep boom on ya head

  • Dr. J is what u call space jam

  • the doctor is in the house BOI

  • This top 10 list would be completely different if there was more footage of his ABA dunks out there.

  • @Elgin22Baylor Yes!! You are so right! I've been saying it for a along time. The Dr's ABA years were amazing, as good as MJ's first 5 years in the NBA (even discounting MJ's 2nd injury shortened season). If there was more ABA footage people could really see how GREAT Julius Erving really was.

  • 1:04 Here's the list of players that dunked over Larry Nance in their career:

    1. Julius Erving

  • I have the number 6 like Julius Erving :)

  • ho is this?

  • @MrNBaFaNfOrEvEr I was talking about Darryl Dawkins wasn't that great just he broke backboards... learn to read bro

  • the best !!!!

  • that was clearly a travel on 8

  • @lilsk8rboy But Youtube told me that no one traveled before 2000. :(

  • @lilsk8rboy No not a travel on #8, there is a single dribble in there followed by regulation layup footwork. Albeit an awesome move,

  • I didn't know zach galifianakis was at that game (at 1:46)..LOL..and oh yeah SICK DUNKS!

  • @dinorikki I thought it was Santa! He must need something to do during the summer, so he had front court seats for Sixer playoff games.

  • why aint his dunk package available in 2k12 =/

  • The ORIGINAL............. So far ahead of his time!!!! And NO ONE will EVER be as nice as he was either!!!!

  • I just saw that the Doctor is auctioning off his NBA Championship ring? These are sad times indeed

  • Doctor J!!

  • @Londono2000 he was a powerful Dunkers but he wasn't that great alot of people like him bc he broke backboards but they were weak back then lol Blake and Dwight could easily break backboards in the 70s lol

  • @DwightHowardSup3rman but man dr.j revolutionized dunking...

  • @DwightHowardSup3rman you are retarded lol lol lol lol lol lol do you see how much of a faggot you are for typing lol every second! plus of course your going to say he not that good because your fucking name is dwighthowardsup3rman..................... what an ass

  • @electricturdful I"m typing every second? I posted my first comment on this vid 2 weeks ago then my second about a week ago? Lolololololol dumb ass... And all i said was that the reason backboards were broken back in the day was because they weren't reinforced like today's rims, and backboards, gtfo u faggot ass troll..

  • Nichael Cooper just moved away in that last dunk for the Doctor to shine. This was very common in the 70's to allow the audience to see the real NBA show back then... nowadays.. forget it.

  • Check our Darryl Dawkins (Julis Erving teammate from the Sixers) for some serious powerfull dunks from the 70's.. he was the best ever in my opinion.

  • my son was swaggin

  • Dr.J - dunkin on people's heads since 1970.

  • Haha anyone notice on #5 that Julius only did that behind the back dribble to avoid the ref?

  • Dr J & Cheeks 76'ers dream team on NBA2K12.

  • Without a doubt for me # 1 is the best dunk of all times. My favorite sports moment of all times. Let's not forget his great finger rolls that was just as spectacular.

  • @kimbaptise I agree with you, greatest dunk of all time..

  • Without a doubt for me # 1 is the best dunk of all times. My favorite sports moment of all times.

  • #1 is my favorite dunk of all time.

Still though I think Vince Certer jumping over Frédéric Weis (7' 2") is the greatest in game dunk ever.

  • Cant wait till i get 2k12 , with Julius Erving anything is possible .. lol

  • "Waaaayyyyy rock the baby to sleep with slam dunk!"

    "Slung that baby waaaaayyyyy arooooound!"

Best slam ever and love the commentary, don't you just love old school basketball?

Doctor J was the best, no theatrics just slam the 2 points and race back on D.

  • Julius is the man !

  • The number 1 dunk at 1:42 is one of the greatest dunks of all time in a game..

  • That was....

    *Puts on Sunglasses*

    Redunkulous!

    YES!!!!

  • Michael Jordan vs. Julius Irving...

  • simply fantastic

  • 0:54 he loves that guy..

  • Top 10 Dunks that we might know of.

Sadly, a lot of Dr. J's games weren't even on TV or taped in the ABA, and lots of his 76'er games too there's no video record of.

  • The last dunk is the REAL cradle dunk!

  • Holy crap that last dunk was amazing

  • This guy was the best dunker in the world.

  • Dr. J was a rockstar amongst ordinary men.

  • 1:45 lookin fly

  • He ova rated he dont got black skin eye ther huh?

  • He ova rated he dont got black skin eye ther huh?

  • Erving was chosen by Milwaukee Bucks in 1972. as their 1st round 12th pick . He could have been Kareem's and Oscar's teammate , instead he signed with Virginia Squires .

  • @garioldwin That definitely would have gotten him even more rings

  • 1:30 he takes off way before the guy and still has more height than the defender.

  • I wish they didn't show the score at 1:13 lol

  • Dr.J + Dj Dre = Dr.Dre

  • yeah doctor J.

  • I love the way he palms the ball. You don't see that nowadays...

  • just fuckin' sick, no one better!

  • At 1:30...the greatest jam of all time!!! The DR is in the HOUSE!

  • omfg #1

  • That number one dunk is classic... He had his mind made up 20 feet from the hoop how he was going to lay that one down...."nasty"...

  • That Michael Cooper dunk is epic !

  • at 6, he crossed the ref!

  • rock the baby #OMG

  • Jordan's Idol.

  • @laqscolo jordan's idol was david thompson also one of the best dunkers of all time also

  • 0:57 he dunks on larry bird lol

  • @MrMarquel18

That wasn't Bird, it was Dave Cowens.

  • @MrMarquel18 That's Dave Cowens. Larry Bird wore number 33 LOL.

  • Shit; over my favorite player,Dave Cowens(The OTHER Redhead)

  • The orginal MJ! Too bad the NBA missed his best years in the ABA.

  • my name's julius.

  • "he rocks the baby to sleep and slam dunk" awesome commentary

  • Dr. J is the master of funkdamentals.

  • @Nickfilms2 better yet,, funkdunkmentals for one thing,,, he dunks over you,, then goes back on defense,,, no fuss,, no stare back,,no raise the roof sh1t,, after he scores in offense,, automatic plays defense. Such a class.

  • @crumblingtown cause he knows his job unlike a lot of players these days

  • @crumblingtown Most players today are full of theatrical attitude, hardly any class. It's just 2 points, just run back and play defense, let the fans do all the screaming.

  • Great basketball is the reason I watched this video

  • I give him the most credit for the free throw line dunk. It's like everybody tries to give Jordan the credit for this but Julius did it first

  • and he did all this is the days when there was no such thing as superstar treatment from the refs. there were no flagrant fouls and the defense could damn near rape you before you'd get a call. MJ is a truly exciting player in his own right, but the Doc did his work when this was a man's game.

  • where is the one where he leaps, has the ball above his head and when someone tries to block it he moves his hand back behind his head lets them pass and still has enough hang time to slam it home... sick awesome stuff

  • Not even Kareem Abdul Jabbar could stop him, and that's saying something.

  • If anyone can tell me who has done a dunk where the player takes it behind the backboard then brings in back and dunks it please let me know!!!!!

  • if u watched this because of nba 2k12 i smh at you

  • 23 people are lakers fans

  • NBA 2K12 is the reason I watched this video

  • @XYZAffair19 ya im taking him over michael

  • @XYZAffair19 the last one i played was 2k2 lol whats 2k12 like?

  • @XYZAffair19 me too

  • Ikr so crucial

  • Look at those arms!!!!

  • If you look closely, LeBron traveled.
