  • Nepenthes wont make any trick in this condition, 90% humidity will help and I dont think you get it outside, the others are really really beautiful, well done.

  • @barryterno I've since moved the nepenthes indoors where it's about 50% humidity and it's made plenty of traps. I plan on trying it outside this spring in partial sun. It's been inside for over a year. Thanks for the compliments. :)

  • best.

    plants.

    EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR.

    congrats ;)

  • @boludovos Thank you. :)

  • @TheDistortionBassist I don't keep it outside anymore. I did that one summer and into the fall, but now it lives in a south-facing glass block window inside. I'm afraid to put it back into the sun, thinking it'll burn, but I know it'd catch a lot more bugs out there and probably be bigger.

  • nice! but how on earth did you get them from lowes in GOOD condition? i have gotten a purple pitcher there before, with only 5 pitchers. that was the only semi- healthy plant there. all the vfts had either one or two traps. and when exposed to flourescent lightbulb ( since they didnt get that much light i had to harden them off to brighter and brighter light) their leafs burned like mad.

  • It seems to be hit or miss with Lowe's. I put my pitchers from there in a window at home without the lid on the death cube, and some of the original pitchers shrivel up and turn brown. But it puts out new pitchers that are more accustomed to the new environment. The same thing will happen when I put them outside in the spring: some will shrivel up, but new pitchers will come out that will be able to handle the new outside environment.

  • Where do you buy them? I always wanted one of these, but I thought they where illegal to own..Cool stuff.

  • Lowe's has them during spring and summer. All mine are either from Lowe's or this one local water garden. I've seen them at other greenhouses, too. Maybe in the spring, call some nurseries and greenhouses near you and ask if they have any carnivorous plants. You might have to specify "pitcher plants." A raccoon ate some of my plants the other night, and pooped on the deck beside them. How nice!
