  • P.S. Don't cite communism or socialism in a duragatory fashion to smear the Coalition. Harper has shown his true colours as the dictator in this arena by locking parliament and not letting OUR ELECTED REPRESENTIVES WORK OUT THE ISSUES. This is the shit you get in Afghanistan under the taliban or in Iraq under the jackboot of American occupationalists who cry democracy in every breath but when your not looking restrict those rights because of "security reasons".

  • You call the Coalition a power play? I call Harpers economic update the first strike in the wrestling for control of canada.

Kamloopian was right about one thing 100%.

Get involved, not enough sane non-ignorant people are obviously doing so.

  • None of these things help our economy, all were hidden in the "economic update" and all were obvious partisan plays that were meant to KEEP THE CONSERVATIVES IN POWER.

  • Kamloopian your original video post was more ccorect than what these conservative loud mouths are degrading your views into.

Your forgetting flahretys budget castrated the oppositions funding as well as removing the right to strike to civil workers til 2011. As well removing the ability for women to acess pay equality in the workplace.

  • ATTN: One should always read the full comments on videos like this. It will give you a much better view of things.

At the bottom of the videos click where it says "View all ## comments". People rate the comments so not all show up otherwise and it can be misleading.

  • Kathoir is not my evil twin. Anyway Kathoir, i urge you not to vote until you have reviewed the issues. Obviously you can see these 3 parties can't really form anything together that will be any good at all. And keep in mind, there are a lot of loudmouths who get a lot of media attention. But basically conservatives are fiscally responsible and that's what we need right now considering the global crisis. Anyway, I am in Ontario and it's past my bedtime. Take care.

  • Kathoir: Socialists are about spreading the wealth around (like communism where it doesn't matter if you work hard or not -) Liberals like to spend money and get us in debt and favour welfare programs where you are rewarded if you don't work... and the like, Separatists want to have quebec separate from Canada and conservatives are about smart economics. Conservatives candidates usually promise what they deliver and the biggest liars on campaign trails are the liberals.

  • Jenzeed, Communism is not about 'it doesn't matter if you work hard or not'. It's about the people who DO the work benefiting from the work, not the people who sit around sipping brandy without ever doing an ounce of work. Socialism is about providing social services that level the playing feild so that everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute to society to the best of their ability, not just those people who were smart enough to have rich parents.

  • Also, seperatist base that traditionally supports the Bloc has been weakening dramatically over the last few years (especially after Bill 101 has releaved many fears about French culture deteriorating have been assuaged) and most quebecios who vote for them are simply voting for the party best capable of gaining concessions for Quebec.

  • You might see the Consevatives as the best 'economic' party out there (debateable), but remember, that's the same economic plan that lead to this friggin' financial meltdown (Blue Tory deregulation, privitization, and general weakening of federal juristiction). The only thing that they actually promised this last election was strong, promt action on the economy, which they completely avoided doing in their Financial Update (aptly, the FU). This is "promise[ing] what they deliver"?

  • Finally, the parties on the right have just as bad a track record (bullsh*t and corruption-wise) as the parties to the left or in the center. As the kamloopian mentioned, Conservative corruption has always screwed Canada as a whole more than liberal corruption ever has. Mulroney vs. Chrétien? I'll go with Jean every time.

Besides, more than 60% of voters voted for parties that supported economic restructuring of some sort (Green party or Liberal 'Green Shift') not the current system.

  • well growing up and not knowing the diifrence between the partys? or seeing anything change when growing up i dont know and diffrence between the partys or what they do or want............so yea i never seen a change could u tell me they diffrences in the past 16 years of canada and the goverment ?

  • lol, probably not in the comment section here.

Keep reading all the responses to this and you'll get a good idea what the individuals in the various parties act like though.

  • Dude, this other guy is ranting more than I do, lol. (Slighty slanted to the right too)

I wonder what he would of said if I told him my Dad calls me a communist. (I support the Greens all the time.)

  • "Also, hey thanks for driving up the comment rating on the video here. It helps get more people to watch."

Are you the guy in this video?

  • Evil twin.

  • Are you even forgetting Harper had to go the Gov General to temporarily cease parliament? Dont' believe everything you hear from ndp policians. In fact, from ANY politicians. Let them talk and if they get voted in, watch and see! you may not like what the conservatives promise and may not have voted for them, but they for the most part do exactly what they say - they aren't liars like the rest of them

  • OMG - a quote from a NDP POLITICIAN and you believe Harper is a dictator! You are a little media puppet! Watch the utube video entitled "Stephane Dion rejects coalition with the NDP" which he said BEFORE the election because as he says NDP economics is damaging to the country! do you actually think this coalition will work? Dion only said this 22 days before the election and now they're a united front? Get real brother!

  • No, this coalition won't work.

You never read any of the comments here (or watched the other half) before you started spouting off?

  • "I base the dictator remark on his record to date. (You think I'm the only one calling him that? Read the friggin' news.)"

Please back this up with SOMETHING.

  • Quotes

By closing down parliament Harper has acted like a dictator, a fascist." NDP member for Outremont Tom Mulcair amused the audience by reciting what he called

    and

Stopping the business of parliament is the action of a banana republic dictator, not the leader of a democracy. One wonders how far Mr. Harper will go

Had he actually behaved himself and worked WITH parliament instead of braying out orders like a dictator he wouldnt be in this mess.

  • "Harper should have too. We wouldn't be in this mess."

    What are you talking about?

You watch. Harper HAS asked for input on the budget and I'll bet 1000 dollars they don't help. It's a power grab and it's not about helping Canada.

  • I agree, it was a power grab.

And I can guarantee that the budget will contain items that will make it very hard for the others to vote it down.

Also, hey thanks for driving up the comment rating on the video here. It helps get more people to watch.

  • Kamloopian. Figure this out. We had a choice to vote for Liberals, socialists, separatists and conservatives. Four fundamentlly DIFFERENT idealogies, would you not agree?

  • We had nineteen federal parties who ran last election.

  • You are silly to show your face on this video and criticize conservatives yet not give one concrete criticism of what they've done other than their name change? And the fact that the new budget hasn't come out yet, and the coalition are already critizising it? You spout silly names and don't want to hear from anyone who disagrees with you. Your mouth is moving but you say nothing. You really SHOULD listen to people who disagree with you to get a better understanding and see the bigger picture.

  • Yes, you really SHOULD listen to people who disagree with you to get a better understanding and see the bigger picture.

Harper should have too. We wouldn't be in this mess.

  • You're on crack. You say you disagree with the NDP, but are for the coalition and the NDP are part of the coalition! You talk about short term memory loss, yet forget that the liberals, who BROUGHT the gst, then (chretien) promised in TWO terms to ELIMINATE IT YET DID NOT LOWER IT A PERCENTAGE, The third term he didn't bother to make that promise. In the short time harper has been PM, he has continually lowered it! Do you just like parties that promise and don't deliver? I don't get you.

  • I think the GST is one of the only fair taxes we have. Eliminate personal income tax and raise the GST.

  • Moron! We had a choice to vote for a socialist, liberal, socialist or conservative party. And we voted for the conservative party. If you think the other THREE who are extremely fundamentally DIFFERENT can suddenly agree and form a stronger goverment? you are delusional. What do you mean he's a dictator? What are you basing that on? You talk about mulroney who brought in Nafta, but did the liberals who had power for YEARS afterward eliminate nafta? NO! Short term memory loss is yours!

  • WE did not vote for the conservatives, you may have, most did not. The other 3 can't form a stronger gov't, never said that.

I base the dictator remark on his record to date. (You think I'm the only one calling him that? Read the friggin' news.)

Eliminate Nafta, how? Been voicing my disapproval of it since it was implemented. Mulroney scewed us, twice . You're too young to know better, eh.

Not a Liberal, don't care for them either.

You a Conservative youtube smear campaign worker?

  • A Canadian coalition forcefully introduced to our government will do nothing, but create even MORE turmoil in our country at the worst possible time. Regardless of a minority party, with the current financial situation in THE WORLD, EVERYONE with a active brain in their head SHOULD be aware that we definitely don't need 3 different parties throwing 3 different forms of government management into the financial political fire. Nevermind 2 of them don't understand the english language!!!

  • We don't need a smug dictator either.

Our country was friggin' formed with a coalition.

    Do you understand french?

  • Harper is manufacturing a political crisis to avoid confronting the economic crises....

  • Sounds like a Canadian Bush. I hope you guys get a better shake in the next go round.

  • Just to inform you, 59% voted and Harper received 37% which is 22%. Consider that he received the most votes means that the other parties can't touch him. Now, considering that your math sucks, why do you think your opinion matters. If you only wish to address those who agree with you why post?? I would continue a courteous discourse except you seem to prefer a crude approach. So.....you are a typical puke, shit f___k head!! who is an obvious moron. hey, if you don't agree with me don't read.

  • nyuk nyuk. Check this guys channel

  • I'd add a link but youtube dosen't allow for it.

So, ...search for globeandmail "Harper appears open to working with Bloc in 2004 CBC interview"

It confirms negotiations were underway at the time (2004) with both the Bloc Québécois and the NDP to form a new Harper-led government if the Liberals could not sustain confidence.

  • we need a new election. a coalition of idiots is note the answer.

btw. by your logic no party recieved a mandate.

  • We do, not quite yet though.

A coalition of the two parties would only work if both Jack and Stéphane stepped down and a new leader was elected.

And yes, the math says no party received a mandate. Hence the minority bit and the need to consider the rest of the house.

  • I have voted conservative before too, but this is not the classical old style conservative party - this is the Reform party and their antics.

  • Half blind here and the remove button is too close to the reply button. So, ....

This might duplicate things as I've asked for a repost.

90210bt said: I have voted conservative before too, but this is not the classical old style conservative party - this is the Reform party and their antics.

And I was going to say:

Ah, the C.R.A.P. (Conservative Reform Alliance Party)

  • Yes, and a coalition in of it self! Also invited......Bloc. Now in English - Separatist, in French Sovereignist, so from 2004 to now Harper must have had a stroke to forget he too he wanted to pull a no-confidence vote against the Liberals but couldn't get the Bloc on-board. Have your say is right, but Cons are very good at this and it will be a new campaign! All the best to you Steve.

  • I'm Irish too (well, half anyways, and er' twice removed?) Either way, I seem to have the scrappy nature, gift of the gab, and a thing for single malts.

At least your money pit is a gentlemen's club and not just a gang of miscreants.

Speak up, speak out, duck and roll.

  • A troll with 20/20 powers of enlightenment.

    Excellent.

  • I heard that its kinda crazy up there. New Elections? New Government?

Its good you all don't have guns. ; )

  • Actually per person we have a lot more guns up here in Canada. Michael Moore made a point to show the difference between Windsor Ontario and Detroit Michigan and to talk about why? Why do we not all shoot eachother up here? We do watch the same TV, Movies, Music all that. Why are we so different yet the same? Interesting.

  • Dialogue or apathy.

  • Dump Harper

  • I 100% agree with you. I voted and wrote my MP stating my support. Governor General and Harper with suspending parliament made a un-conditional decision. Now every time a Prime Minister is about to loss there job all they have to say is prorogue.

  • our gov't and economy have been going down the crapper lately down here in the U.S.. alot of big named stores have been going bankrupt within the past 2-3 months. but our gov't should get a little better starting in january, when barack obama goes into office...

Good luck overthrowing the canadian government...

just one question... how much are small homes average costs in canada?..

  • Depending on where you are at, they (mortgage payments) are costing approx 50% of your income. $250k should get you a small one.

They doubled in price in my neighbourhood and the new ones they built on the old turkey farm are approx $600,000.
