@alpacino1974ok totally agree. I have heard the drummers you mention, but dave has a groove and feeling to his drumming, considering the speeds he plays, thats incredible. Sure its not as fast as roddy and kolias, but he has great personality and groove, nicely balanced. He's also one of the music industry's really rare, down to earth guys.

Lombardo's so good because he's technically sound but crucially he hits everything REALLY hard and with a sense of groove. You can tell him apart from other drummers quite easily. Really fast drummers (gravity blast etc..)like Hellhammer, Roddy, Mounier, Kolias..... are all good but there's something mechanical and bland about how they play. Lombardo's fills and his work about his toms and high hat are just superb. Big Gene's great too. Anyone remember Greg Hall?

there is nothing bland about metal. It's probably the most complex type of western music, maybe a little less than jazz, perhaps?
