yup... Peter's was n still is my favorite character. I mean shit, how can u look passed Milo's face 2 anyone elseX3 Anyways though... I think, even ppl who didn't like Peter Petrelli from the beginning, agree that his altered power kinda sux. 4 whatever reason, it sux. I think what they actually should've done, if they really wanted 2 change his power... is make it controllable. As in pretty much this, only he keeps what powers he copies. Like X-men's Rogue. This one at a time thing, just blows.

@Ackles4life what I mean is: before his Dad steals his power (prick by the way)... Peter couldn't control whose power he absorbed, so like in Season 1 he kinda had "overloading" problems.

So, his new power should've just allowed him 2 choose which power 2 'replicate'. But STILL BE ABLE TO KEEP IT>_< But! The shows been made the way it was, and canceled... so I guess, no use complaining about it *sighs*

I dont know I think the whole morally gray is what makes heroes so awesome and sylar isn't morally gray...he's bad...except when he has daddy issues or identity crisis...he's a good character but he doesn't seem to fit in...he was the main villain on genesis first arch (save the cheerleader) only... bomb arc is peter vs peter generations the bad guy is adam villains is arthur ...fugitives maybe nathan and danko and redemption samuel (when I say bad I mean the ones I dont agree with)

You guys obviously don't see the significance of why he lost his power. This season was all about how Arthur Petrelli, Peter's father, also had empathic mimicry and it evolved into power theft. The thing is that Peter was turning into his father as you could see when he got Sylars power.

@azzaheroesfanatic - My guess is, when he took the formula one of these happened, either he recovered Empathic Mimicry and lost control of it when Nathan said that he wouldn't had save Peter (being the final blow on his empathy) or he thought he had Empathic Mimicry and just went to save Nathan and took his power when touched him. The Sylar thing...he can only copy one of Sylar's powers by a time, but since he's gone to the good side he can replicate what power he wants from him by just asking.

Peter will have to regain his full power at the new and final volume brave new world. his weakning state was interesting in order to bound him a bit and mature his personality again. but now it's getting dull. even with Sylar turning to the good side a new villain will rise and then Peter will have to do it again. My guess is, he recovers his empathic side when he gains the scar, it will be some tragic scene.

Can someone tell me why they decided to give Sylar Empathic mimicry, doesn't that defeat the purpose of him being a villain in all those episodes in the beginning stealing powers and slicing foreheads open, he should have the ability replication not peter, i remember when he was acquiring Claire's power he touched her brain then replicated her power and healed how can you be empathetic and kill someone i think they fucked up bad and peter should have his old power he has the same DNA

I think he has the ability to use the empathic ability but thats if you feel empathy towards someone to gain there ability, its the same ability Peter originally had because he empethises with a lot of people, hes that kind of guy lol. From what I have watched so far I think hes only used it once and that was with Elle when he was understanding how she felt when he killed her father. This was also when he was being ''used'' by the Petrelli parents.

First of all, Peter ONLY took shape-shifting from Sylar, so that he could get close to him. It was the first intelligent thing he did in 3 seasons. As for his power, it's not as cool now, but at least they don't write him as a total moron anymore. He has to make logical decisions, instead of relying on his powers and ultimately screwing everything up.

even though i was pissed off when peter got this ability it makes sense now why they changed it he was just too powerful and could get out of every threat. so he never really got to use them season 1 he was discovering he ability season 2 he lost his memory so he learned them all again and season 3 as far as i know he had them for like 4 episodes and they've had to do the same thing with sylar he lost some of his abilities in season 2 got new ones in 3 and now has lost his memory. seem familiar?

Sylar's power; I would call it more like: Empathic Replication, or Empathic absorption..because Sylar had to have physical contact with Elle to absorb her power, also he has absorbed both Nathan's power and Eric Doyle's power too.

So Sylar does have to kill to absorb power anymore..because of his combined Intuitive aptitude and Clair sentience, and Arthur Petrelli's teaching..

Yes he emphasized with her..to learn about her power..then he touched HER with his right ARM and said: "I FORGIVE U, and NOW U NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF!" Suddenly Elle's pain goes away..and then something happens to Sylar..he gets some kind of understanding..then he got her power..

Intersting theory. Peter may have absorbed each ability after losing the previous ones. I always thought to myself as well what would've happened if Peter was able to absorbed all of Sylar's abilities he gained so far.

My theory is that Peter's powers might evolved and he can call upon other abilities that he absorbed and lost throughout using ability replication. People's abilities have evolved throughout the series like Matt and Sylar. Why not Peter's?

ive seen lots of things about peter for season 4... milo says in an interview.. peter is left with the ABILITIES he has.... another...Peter uses his abilities... so i think he still replicates powers (touch) but he learned to keep more than one...and somehow use his previous ones from Vol. 4 (eg. strength, freezing and stuff)

we can only hope that peter does learn to retain multiple abilities, it is what made him a tad bit more special than other heroes.( sylar and arthur are also in this category.)

Because Peter can apparently hold only one power at a time. If he took ALL of Sylar's powers, Peter would have healed right after the fight instantly. But he didn't meaning he has only one power. Shape Shifting. But by the next volume he may very well have a new ability copied.

Peter told someone (I think it was Noah) that he can do everything Sylar can. As for the healing, it was probably just blood, not an actual wound. The idea that Sylar could injure but not kill him is ridiculous unless Peter had regeneration.

And when Claire first walks in, Peter is limping but seconds later he's fine. Sounds like regeneration.

If he chose shapeshifting, he's even more retarded than I thought. Shapeshifting only worked out because Hiro was able to take out B26 and get the tranquilizers to Noah.

Peter didn't plan on that happening, so if he had to choose between disintegration, electrokinesis, telekinesis, immortality, and shapeshifting, and he chose fucking shapeshifting, I'm done with this show. They better either make it so he had all of Sylar's powers or never reveal whether or not he took all of them.

the reason they got rid of his old ability is because of a little thing called humanization. they tried to create a lower budgeted and more stroy driven vol4, but they still made mistakes. thankfully peter has taken at least some of sylars powers if not all, so he can use intuitive apt to take without killing

Peter absorbs Matt power to read minds, taking away his ability to fly...then later in the scene in the video room, he gts shot at, and falls off the roof...and all of a sudden he can fly again??? THEN he sees nathan and absorbs the ability he dosent necessarilly need...

i think peter will develop his power further like he did before...

if you remember, in the 1st season he could only use a persons ability when he was around them and could only use one at a time after that... but he developed his empathic ability to its full potential

now i think he will develop his ability until he can hold onto everyone's abilities and use them whenever he wants after touching them, or he will absorb them by just been around them... then he will be the powerful hero again!

I want Peter to get his original power back too, but the show needs this right now. There were storylines they couldn't explore while he could do anything, and its healthy for the show to give him some time in the background.

He will get stronger eventually though. They know how popular he was and they wouldn't just throw it away for good - that's why they kept the characters in the first place (the original plan was to have new characters each season).

Arthur only aquired 1 ability at a time before getting Peters.

Why was such an old fella with that ability so limited on power?
