Which would you recommend more? This or Sonic 3 and Knuckles?

@TheDarkrai05 Sonic CD is a great game. It has great music and unique bosses, but the level designs are a little sloppy, the special stages are trippy, and the final boss is pathetic (after the first hit, though).

S3&K, however, is the best Sonic game of all time. Amazing designs, beautiful music, incredible speed, and playing as Tails and Knuckles are the reasons why I am a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic CD is a great game. Don't get me wrong, but S3&K blasts past it by many ways IMO.

Sonic CD was the first Sonic game to have spindash, not Sonic 2.

Yes it does, I'm not sure on any of the future Sonic Games but it was a staple to where if you stood around for too long Sonic became a Jackass and left the screen. And if you had no lives it resulted in Gameover...with Sonic CD with that Creepy as hell Game Over Screen..

Eh .. I wouldn't say the level design is bad, it's just based around exploration rather than action and speed like Sonic 2/3&K. Sonic CD is essentially Sonic 1 made on steroids. At first I hated the level design as well, but once I changed my mindset, making it my goal to deliberately explore rather than blast through like I typically would in a Sonic title, the game became far more enjoyable.

@AvistTorch I love the multi-layered level designs of Sonic CD that came out years before Sonic 3&K did it. The game gives you so many paths to explore and the different time zones also add replay value. What the reviewer found to make him dizzy I find to be exhilarating fun. I also like the special stages better than in other games.

So I would say it's better than the straight-forward Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 but not better than Sonic 3 & K.

Chances are when busy Johnny gets the time he will review it. Saw the play-through that was a guest of and he finally sees the glory of the massive level designs and exploration. When I was 5 and first picked up this game it was Skyrim of exploration to me and playing the fresh built from scratch port and seeing all these little pathways bring back some fond memories ^^ This game will forever be my favorite. Both soundtrack are perfect in their own ways and just ENJOY THE MASTERPIECE!!!
