You have pop music, that sux, and then you have original, artistic music, like this... From Pink Floyd, Orb, to harder electronic-industrial stuff like Grendal, all I can say is that electronic pwns...From trance, gothic, slow electro, industrial, EBM, I love synths.
very nice, "the best of the orb" one of my favourite albums of all live, toxigen, littlefluffy clouds, my personal favourite: pomme fritz, blue room, assasin chocolate hills of bohol.
I love the orb and all that they stand for and represent. Seen them live a few times, everyone just falls in love with each other. You just don't want it to end
props to GTA 4 TBoGT for putting this in the game....I could drive around Liberty City for hours and not kill nobody when this song is on the radio...LOL
the amount of time on a Sunday after the mad 48hours previous we would be zombied out, not able to move and drfting in and out of conciousness to the ORB, they are pretty good memories. Looks like most of us survived unlike the media predictions, scare tactics of the day!!
would love to get my hands on a copy of the aubrey mixes think there was a limited rn of that album, lost my original on cassette no less lol, got a copy mixed with pink floyd, AWESOME
yeah i was going through some vinyls my brother left here and i found "the orb, peel session october 1990" its got pulsating brain, fourth dimension, back side of moon and.... and nothing pulsating brain goes for 20 mins wtf! i had no idea what this was 5 minutes ago and was going to throw it out! lucky some one posted this vid on you tube
Lay down on your bed. Close your eyes and listen. You'll drift off into sleep and dream of flying through space. Or have horrible, horrible, nightmares. Either way, its going to be something you remember. lol
nice thing with this is that it sounds 10/10 played by itself and also sounds 10/10 mixed in with 126bpm oldschool techno / rave ... incredible, would like to make music like myself but it would be very hard unless without distractions!
the orb is just so great.blue room and and so many great grooves with soothing minimal beats and sublime structure.i think that people that dont like abstract/psychadelic music dont have a good sense of timing and rythym so they get lost and hear only chaos.
This song is just amazing, love it...The few people that knew of me thought of me as a freak though. *sigh* They had a listen of Orb: Oblivion, and thought the CD was damaged...

@VelocityDJ Drugs can ruin your life. Most probably they will. This song makes me realize that the world is a happy place depending on how you take it. If you take the earth as a nice place it becomes one. If you take it as horrible and demeaning, it's horrible and demeaning. A Huge Evergrowing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of the Ultraworld is a perfect song for realizing that earth is both happy and sad. anyways, this song is fantastic and I'm so glad I found it. I'm surprised
@neoclassicatfish I don't agree about the drugs thing, but it's just an opinion don't take it personally.
IMO, drugs can or can not ruin your life, that depends on who takes them. I knew a guy (not a friend of mine, friend of friend) who died because an overdose on cocaine, my friend told me he was devastaded, and he ruined his life as you say. Although, I know people who do drugs like cocaine on a regular basis, but when they know they're crossing the line, they quit doing it for some time. Cya
fuck you youtube for not allowing videos longer than 10 minuets....way to destroy art you cunts... good job this song is so relaxing, otherwise i'd be tossing a bomb in your place youtube.
I"m just glad Alex still tours, maybe not often certainly not been to Australia since 2008, but their stuff is amazing. Will be interesting to hear their work with David Gilmore
just found "The Orb - Peel Sessions" recently in my place. On that CD this track lasts a bit more than 20! minutes! Love it so much!! Aaaah, good old 90s......
The 18.49 one is the best, I love it. Fluffy Clouds, and Blue Room (40minute version) also fantastic. "Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld" is such a fantastic album. "Spainish Castles in Space" such atmosphere, and "Supernova At the End of the Universe" a great space out track. "Backside of the Moon" very similar to this as well. Fantastic album, really underrated and under-appreciated, really did a lot for the genre.
@Bollo2 Yeah, you can completely submerge yourself into their songs. Especially of Ultraworld. This may sound cheesey, but I find listening to the entire album on a warm summer night, in the middle of a park or own backyard with complete peace, looking at the stars is the complete way to listen to this album.
I've never touched on such melodic ambience again. Obviously I've looked into it, with the likes of Biosphere and Tim Heckler. Probably Future sound of London. Orb are the best though.
Has anyone heard the hard dance set by The Orb? Saw them live in Bristol a couple of years back at the Trinity centre and managed to get a chat with Alex too! Signed t-shirt. Absolute legend.... Thankfully did not ask about Jimmi :D
@ectowle The tools for making this sort of collage were very different when this song was made. It wasn't simply cut and paste into a nice graphic display on your PC. The technique used to make this music were using samplers to collect sounds, sequencers to generate loops, and a mixing board to control the dubbing. And even though it was much more difficult, we can still look at the creativity. The Orb took sounds from everywhere and articulated them in a way relevant to early 90s rave culture.
Wait a minute! The 8-minute one I downloaded doesn't sound like the one from Gay Tony! Shit......and Amazon won't let me download the song without downloading the whole album which is over $20. God damn, y'all.
I'm downloading the 8-minute version which includes lyrics from "Loving You"; I heard the version from The Ballad of Gay Tony. It's a pleasant, mesmerizing song that feels good to listen to. There's an 18-minute version but apparently that costs almost $20. So I'm gonna wait on that, to say the least.
btw consider the possibility of getting the album, maybe a used copy of the original CD/vinyl, which would cost more or less the same. It's worth buying coz this isn't the only masterpiece song on it!
When this came out, it was the bomb. Still sounds great.
Thinking back, I wasn't too up on "house" at the time, but people were talking about the new "ambient" and I remember thinking "we already got Eno" - but this was something WAY different. More lush and on the upbeat tracks, way more fun.
This track is also a mash-up - if you consider the use of Minnie's "Lovin' You".
Best reggae on side b too! The screaming jet sounds are so memorable that I remember the tape, alongside the rest of the lower main street from back then after 2:59am.
This is better than drugs. And with drugs i doesnt get any better. Life seems so beautiful while listen to this. Like there´s absolutley nothing to be afraid of. Just live and die and remember to take life for what it is.
@VelocityDJ Sorry I have to disagree. Tripping on L is waaaaaaaaaay more of an intensely beautiful and tantalizing experience than listening to this. You realize half he people who go to Orb live shows are probably on some sort of hallucinogen when they're there, right? Psychedelics free your mind. Music and psychedelics are the best things to put together. The Shamans did it in South America.
@MountAnalogue If you read my comment once more you will get what I mean. I dont choose drugs before music but i prefeer to use drugs while im listening to it.
john peel played this back-to-back with a tangerine dream track from the early 70's. it was hard to tell where one finished and the other started. Timeless and amazingly beautiful...
Oh yes!!!! Thank you my friend, i was looking for this on youtube before. I used to have the 12 inch but got rid of my records years ago. I used to trip out to this one back in......when was it again?
