Religion has produced a lot of really archaic, timeless music. We Three Kings is my favourite song of all time. It's an epic, gypsy-sounding song about following a star, how can you go wrong? That was the only part about church I liked, and singing We Three Kings with the whole church gave me goosebumps, underneath my skin. It was like something deeper than this reality was passing through me. I stopped going to church, but I feel fortunate for being able to feel that crazy feeling.

well it's not just about idiocy. humans have certain mental predispositions and religion is one of them. it's part of out evolutionary baggage. the problem is that we have, on the one hand, figured out so much about the universe and developed science and philosophy, and on the other hand our brains have still not evolved in order to keep up. plus religion has so many aspects. it taps into our emotions, our fears, our hopes, our basic urges.
