Happy to have rediscovered this song and this band, their music also helped me through some dark days in my life!Glad to see by others post I wasn't Standing Alone!lol....
Danny Vaughn had one of the best voices from this era. I saw them play in a tiny club around this time, maybe 20 people there, but they still rocked like there was 10,000.
I have been sober 8 years. and this song has been great inspiration to my life. I am now back to the job I love and went to college for instead of jumping from job to job. So nice to have my life straight.
Tyketto, tangiers, Hardline, Kix and I could go on about good bands that did not do well in the market place yet had more talent than a few that did. RATT rocked but talented musicians and writers they were not... HAH... There are a few others but I will just get yelled at...
I still listen to this song a couple times a week, and it still keeps me going strong. I am still sober and I want to thank EVERYONE who has posted a reply. It was great to see that people can be supportive on YOUTUBE and not just bash one another (which I have also done, lol) . Thank you everybody. ps Keep 80's hair metal ALIVE!!!
Frankly, this is one of the most amazing power ballads ever. I discovered it during a difficult time in my life two years ago and it said everything I felt.
And so to DAVEPRO74... no, it doesn't sound a bit gay that you're thanking Vaughan for a wonderfully powerful, emotive and moving song. Every human being on planet earth need an emotional crux, and this happens to be yours. For what it is worth, I applaud you and hope with every fibre of my being that you are doing well.
what an amazing band. i happened to stumble upon this searching for a similar song. will definitely have to check out more from them. thanks for sharing and turning me on to a new band. well, new to a chick that's spent most her life listening to almost exclusively classic rock, 80's metal, and blues. much appreciated, Froman!
One of the best albums EVER, and hardly anyone knows about it. What a shame. This thing is incredible. I got lucky one day out pawn-shopping and picked it up for $1.99 at Goodwill. Couldn't believe my luck. Tyketto!
@rockonmario - Nope, it's not Kurt's fault. Cobain's roots/influences run deep and is not talentless. Listen to the Replacements lead singer. Sounded like Cobain WAY before grunge became cool.
And get your facts straight: Grunge/alternative already started in the 80's, it just gained more traction/popularity with Nirvana/Pearl Jam etc. Nirvana did not TRY to be big like all the copycat hairbands. It's copycat hairband's faults, not to mention all the fans who supported the 'grunge'.
couldn't agree more komoru a lot of hair band fans just need someone to blame instead of the bands themselves for lack of good new music I'm not a big Nirvana fan but your dead on
after struggling for years with substance abuse, this song was a HUGE part of me getting sober and staying that way. Six months strong now. Thank you Mr. Vaughn for making this song, it saved my life and my family. I know thats gay but it's the truth. lol.
nothing gay about it bro. being sober is an amazing accomplishment. I applaud you. A man who knows his faults and corrects it to save his life and family. keep going bro. I,m there with ya. sober for 12 years
@DAVEPRO74 I applaud you also ,, i was there also ,,over 3 years clean now ,, i use to listen to wasted time by Skid Row to get me through the ruff times , What ever works for you, ,, Nothing gay about being sober ,, My life is great ,, Hope your still sober !!!!! If it matters you can email me any time you like , We cant do this alone ,,
Dude, you have nothing to be but proud. I had substance abuse problems for a few years and it's a major milestone when you finally realize you can get high on life. Six months now for you and I have no reason to doubt that you can make it another six YEARS!(Meaning permanently) Stand proud. In this respect you aren't standing alone even though it felt it during the addiction. Millions are where you stood. Thumbs up to Tyketto and two thumbs up to you! BTW 13 years clean now.
@DAVEPRO74 It's not gay at all to say that brother. This album was in constant rotation after my divorce. I turned to some pretty dumb shit for solace myself in those times. This album allowed me to push past depression, suicidal tendencies and substance abuse. Six months is fantastic. Stay strong.
@DAVEPRO74 now over two years sober. I still love this song and I still love 80's hair Hair Metal. I hear Tyketto have rejoined and working on new music. Can't wait.
Congrats on your success. Do not under estimate the power the God has put in music. This song helped me through the lose of my son, and now the lose of my wife. Keep your Faith. We are never truly Standing Alone.
Great, I have met Danny in March, at a theatre in Chatham UK. He now plays in the UK. He's in an 'EAGLES' tribute band called 'The Illegal Eagles' playing town theatres. I thought he was great..so was TYKETTO!
These guys just were not as big as Def Leopard but 95% of "radio metal" groups were gone after 1 CD or cassette. These guys came in after Trixter, Firehouse and Slaughter hit it big.
Such a beautiful song, wasted on a time when no was was paying attention to what really mattered: the music. Danny Vaughn was the type of singer that could sing the hell out of anything--his heart shows when he sings. God bless these guys, too bad I can't rip them out of the past and share them with the world right now.
guys, tyketo is a great band, their album reaches here in the philippines, that is why we have known them...its great to hear that they have been treasured, coz we play their songs, our BAND play's TYKETO
I see your point, but I think it was because they were to late... the glam era was almost over when they got there first record out... It's really a shame. One of the greatest glam metal bands... with a really great singer.
This band/song means alot to me. I'm 37 my daughter is 17 . And we both love this song. The meaning of the song represents different things for the both of us, but still it's the same!!
saw them in my hometown of newcastle 2yrs ago they are def best in the flesh and the best time i had after the show with them, god they can put away the beer !!
Hey Louvers, I hear ya. I knew of Tyketto, but thanks to hair nation, I heard this song for the first time about two weeks ago. Great ballad. I was a big hair band guy growing up and am surprised I'd never heard this song.
It's such a shame that corporate American buried these guys in the early 90's. Had it not been for a flight to Florida and the tuning in of Hair Nation, I never would have even heard of them. Grunge absolutely killed real hard rock. These guys should have been huge.
I've been listening to this every day since I discovered this. freakin' fantastic.
note to guys who think they're "dorks" and will never get a girlfriend: just learn to sing like this. That is all you have to do. The ladies will be falling like flies at your feet.
Just heard this song on XM41 Hair Nation a day or so ago and loved it. I hear heard a song or two by the group before but this one was my fav so far. Cool group checking out more of their songs online now..
Keith is always talking about "stepping in stuff" and if I smell it... I dont wana smell anything he steps in. I like Kim BUT Daaannngerous Darren is pretty good guy too...Id have to pick Kim I think. :-)
Love this band! This has got to be maybe the best band ever that didnt get a break and make it to the big time. I call them the 1990's version of journey but a little harder.
tyketto got held back by there record label in place of nirvana, then the hole scene changed to grunge. they whould/should have been massive. i think guns and roses were on the same label
I've read some of the comments on here and would just say that mostly, a lot of great bands never made it big in the 80's/90's and even now because we're constantly bombarded by teeny commercialised pop shyte. Even kerrang is complete toss calling itself rock radio. This was played on planet rock the other day and just reminded me of how good tyketto were along with countless other unsung heroes you'll never hear on so called rock stations. Class!
Wow this is as good as I remember it. I cannot remember the differences now but I know I preffered the "Don't Come Easy" album version even though the difference was only very slight.
I'd nearly forgotten about these guys because they got so little recognition back in the day, but this song rocked! And still does! I remember this was the one that made me like Tyketto in the first place!
I like this version better than the original too although both are phenomenal. Since they didn't release it when "Don't Come Easy" was out they re-released it(remix) on "Strength In Numbers" This is the version in the video. Peace out! /m\
Those were the days of the great power ballads, the long coats, the cowboy boots, the leather vests, the long hair, but most importantly, the good musicianship, the feeling, the guitar solos, the vocal harmonies. Great video clip. Thanks!
The TRUE test of a GREAT rock band - is if they can write a melodic ballad - and hold it all together when they play and sing it. Thin Lizzy were one - and THIS TRACK is another perfect example of a REALLY GREAT band playing their finest. Tyketto are a superb band - no question.
Oh my !! That one almost brought a tear to my eye. Jeez, what ever happened ? And I have to agree with marioalonso1977 that Danny should be Journey'd new lead singer, that's one show I would definitely love to see.
great call lynchy.danny v is an incredible musician.had the priveledge of meeting him and tony from vaughn outside newcastle city hall.what a great couple of genuine guys.
Back in the 90s I read Metal Edge Magazine every month. They featured this band and many others I had never heard of, as radio pretty much sucked. Because I live in Canada, I knew I wasn't about to find a cassette of theirs, so I went on a shopping trip across the border and found their second album, and bought it despite never having heard a note of their music before. I fell in love with Danny's voice, and a version of this song blew me away. Thanks for posting this video.

Love this band! This has got to be maybe the best band ever that didnt get a break and make it to the big time. I call them the 1990's version of journey but a little harder.

Brooke St. James.
Like someone said in another Tyketto video, he is one of the best guitarists that no one has ever heard of.

why does this videotrack differs from the actual track itself?
This version is so much better!
minorharmonicscale 3 years ago
I like this version better than the original too although both are phenomenal. Since they didn't release it when "Don't Come Easy" was out they re-released it(remix) on "Strength In Numbers" This is the version in the video. Peace out! /m\

Those were the days of the great power ballads, the long coats, the cowboy boots, the leather vests, the long hair, but most importantly, the good musicianship, the feeling, the guitar solos, the vocal harmonies. Great video clip. Thanks!

I'm helpless, can't fight a raging heart
And I got no use for bein' torn apart
And the world don't seem to have no use for me
'Cos you've given nothing, and nothing isn't free
chorus
You can't keep it all inside, I need someone
else to stand with me by my side
Give me something to fight, something to hold on to
I just don't wanna be standing alone

The TRUE test of a GREAT rock band - is if they can write a melodic ballad - and hold it all together when they play and sing it. Thin Lizzy were one - and THIS TRACK is another perfect example of a REALLY GREAT band playing their finest. Tyketto are a superb band - no question.

Oh my !! That one almost brought a tear to my eye. Jeez, what ever happened ? And I have to agree with marioalonso1977 that Danny should be Journey'd new lead singer, that's one show I would definitely love to see.
