  • 9:07 The organ solo gets me everytime. Phenominal.

  • @fibreoptix Lol I read orgasm solo and didn't think anything of it.

  • Yay for Sonic Switch!!! (this is the theme for Sonic Switch)

  • I heard the intro part to this song, and I was so impressed by it, I even downloaded a music identification app to find it, but now that I'm listening to the full thing, it kinna sucks. The intro is the best part, I'm disappointed.

  • @geneticblizzard I felt the same way.

  • Its only after listening to TMV a whole lot that you finally hear all the different patterns and sounds inside the chaotic mess that is their music.

  • Saw them in Texas open up for a perfect circle. Hooked ever since.

  • @nosajmyles You lucky bastard.

  • Amputechture is slowly being my favorite album by these guys. Goddamn they are fucking brilliant. Im also drun.

  • @2:59 My Favorite part

  • Comment removed

  • Find it hard to listen to any other bands after TMV... seem so boring.

  • FAVORITE MARS VOLTA SONG <33

  • My nephew shared this on fb, I added it to my favorites, Great sound and I enjoyed it..

  • Fajnie jest iść do szkoły słuchając tego.

  • I genuinely think the Mars Volta are better than hard drugs, sex and life. Combined. Times eighteen.

  • @glegs69 sex while doing hard drugs listening to volta = life

  • octahedron amputechture bledam in goliath > popdeloused

  • I think, this is the most awesome thing I've ever heard... *Mind blows. *

  • So I think we can all agree they didn't plateau. Ever.

  • i love it so much

    it makes me so somethinhg

  • at the risk of sounding redundant IT LACKS A HUMAN PULSE

  • Why is the best part of this song cut out. I love how the drums fade in and out. Then the voice and guitar cut out and the only thing left is the synthesised polyphony. Oh well I'll go hear it on my CD.

  • Their lyrics are so poetic.....love their sense of structure when it comes to writing songs as well. In 100 years or so, this band will be recognized as one of the great composers of the period....or they should be....

  • @ShanTheMan73 you are right. their songs never have a boring moment. 'Boring' being a time where nothing is happening, and they do it perfectly.

  • IT LACKS A HUMAN PULSE!!!

  • sounds like a mad scientist or cold blooded murder song

  • They want a bouquet of black rose gems, Castrating kisses stalactite stems, They went and built a capsule in the cyanide one,

Where the holiest of water would have you to drown

  • "You gotta FIND MY BODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!"

Btw, Rick Rubin's production of "De-Loused" is actually the prime reason Omar despises that album. I love De-Loused and it's great to hear such a wild, "Avant-Garde" artist backed by a well-structured producer, but I would much rather hear Omar, uninhibited.

  • humans as ornaments humans as ornaments, humans as ornaments!

  • 3 people had to clean their brains off the floor after listening and thus, disliked it.

  • You give me a corpse.

    You live in it now.

You're staring from a camp nourishment plows

  • best songs on this album for me are this one and day of the baphomets.

  • Yaaaaaah!

  • Gawd, I love this song. How can one listen and not get goosebumps. The music is like E to me as it totally moves me from within. There is nothing more beautiful or more poignant than the music created by these guys. Octahedron is a drug. That is all I can compare it to as I have no words. I need more from these guys.I know there is so much but I can't wait to be floored again. Also Boston wants your badasses back MV!!

  • @grinninh dude, as i was reading your comment i was thinking about i was getting crazy shivers, this song is sick

  • @behindblueeyes12 It's rare and frickin profound to hear such piognant music that it evokes not only an emotional but a visceral response as well. These guys are a powerhouse of kickass. Constantly metamorphasizing and its like a kid at Christmas to watch and hear them evolve.

  • Scabdates is their best album. Suck it.

  • Humans as Ornaments!

  • Certainly one of the greatest songs off the album. I must say its only topped by Asilos Magdalena, which is so eerily beautiful.

  • My favorite album is definitely De-Loused. Every song off that album is a classic.

  • i can just get lost in this songs bass

  • I heard some people didnt like this album, but i freaking loved it, especially this song.

  • listening to this song made me think of amazing tattoo ideas

  • HOLY SHIT 8:50 to 9:53 makes me go crazy! On 8:50 when all the instruments are just like melting and sound as if the music is liquid and it starts to go down the drain I get goosebumps and i make a really tight fist and my veins start to pop and then when it starts "IT LACKS A HUMANS PULSE!" I lose it. I start singing a long in this scratchy voice i start to move my head back and fourth. OH MY GOD its so fucking intense. It's like im on heroin. It's so fucking AMAZING!

  • 0.0Humans as ornaments, Humans as ornaments, humans as ornaments 0.0

  • woooooaaaaaaooooo =D me facinaaaaaaaaa

=P son unos dioses con la musica ....

  • they cut the end lame....

  • STOP COMPARING THE ALBUMS for fucks sake, enjoy them individually, each as an individual work of art TOTALLY INDEPENDENT from each other

  • AMO A THE MARS VOLTA!!!!!!

  • i think this is my second favorite after deloused. this shit rocks as well!

  • The Mars Volta RULES! Period! It might be debatable as to which album is their best but that's what civil discourse is all about! Personally, I like Bedlam, Deloused, Francis and Amputecture/Octahedron are a tie. I haven't heard the live album but I'm sure it kicks!

  • My friends always tell me The Mars Volta are not talented but they listen to 50 cent an lil wayne and nothings wrong with that but i dont think rhyming words talkin bout drugs and killin is so special i believe this is true talent and music

  • @Gliebhard although every genre is to be enjoyed in a different manner, noting 50 cent who has virtually no input in his work as a higher talent form over the mars volta who completely work there albums from start to finish is a joke... tell your friends they have no understanding of what talent is.

  • @Gliebhard your freinds have no brainstems

  • @Gliebhard Your friends just don't understand music. And they might be slightly idiotic too.

  • @Gliebhard dude my friends try hearing the mars volta n they are like "oh this sucks wat is this lalala!" n im like its good music why? but they dnt like anything good so idnt blame em they like pop n stff like that =/ they dnt even like at the drive in or the deftones =/ now thats sad =/

  • @pinkpop91764 same with my friends i was like wtf... but there is one who did so i was kinda happy :)

  • This is my favorite song by the Mars Volta! But no matter what song you like, you gotta admit this is the best group. The genre they put it under on there Myspace is Experimental / Progressive / Rock but whatever you want to call it there the shit if you disagree eat a DICK!

  • these vocals are nauseating.

  • deloused is the best album..c'mon rick rubin produced that shit

  • WoW! seiously, you guys are gonna try rating their bodies of work. It all sounds so good to me. They are making a new way to make music. Using words as notes within the song structure. It is so new and beautiful. The lyrics themselves may not always make sense, but it's the music, right ?. The music.

  • @ThebilLeeGoat Using words as notes isnt new... I absolutely love The Mars Volta, but yeah, its not new, in jazz they use it all the time, its called scat singing. Bands like Sigur Ros use a similar style which is referred to specifically to them as Vonlenska or Hopelandic

  • this is music!

  • Deloused is possibly one of my favorites. It was the first album I knew by them. I also love frances, cover-to-cover. Octohedron is probably on my bottom, due to it's lack of the concert band. Bedlam is up there with deloused, for Metatron is one of their best song, IMO

  • the beggining of the song the person singing reminds me of sonic the hedgehog

  • God I love The Mars Volta

  • the beginning kinda sounds like it could be used for like a heroic sunset/sunrise

  • Comment removed

  • i love the ending. it lacks a human pulse.....

  • @Scarletfoe ------ you do know... there are niggers in the band, right?...

  • @inxyEdits

you do know youre a racist fuck right?

  • @420marsvolta - stop pretending to be the mars volta.

  • @inxyEdits Sweet dude, your a fuckin dick......

  • @NiggerPat88 - Niggers in this band.. Whats wrong? Do you not see them?

  • @Scarletfoe u mean it lacks a human corpse

  • @Scarletfoe its gotta be one of the most powerful endings ever recorded.

  • i LVOE the mars voltaaaa Its my lifeee the same wit myy boi adammm Geeettt itt

  • Thank you for removing that douche's (Edervolta24) comments. I hate when people don't realize that without some bands their favorite modern bands wouldn't exist.

  • well theyve been playing a lot of songs from deloused lately they must not hate it

  • i would be very disappointed if i saw them live and they didn't play this.

  • great sound..i love it....putain j'aime ça!!!

  • everything theyve ever made is the shit, all their albums and songs fucking rock ur mothers panties off

  • And I believe that Cedric said it himself when I was watching them live and they were about to play drunkship of lanters. "This is a song off of our first album its for you fans because you think we peaked with our first two albums and all our later work sucked because we care what about our fans." *sarcasm applied* The sad part its true that a lot of fans think that.

  • Volta is bad ass.

They have such vast material.Just because you liked the last disc doesn't mean you'll love the next. They are doing their thing and if you listen long enough you get sucked in!

Seeing them next week at the House of Blues in Boston....

  • i had no idea theyre comin to boston!! now all i can get is stadium seats bt atleast ill be there

  • See yah there!!

  • its about being awsome and sounding great

  • what the heck is this music about???

    ....

  • dismantling phantom limbs

  • is about to expres urself in the easier way to u!!...sorry my english, u will understand!! ^___________^

  • It's about HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS

  • I havent heard this whole album yet :/ its a god damn shame.

The best album theyve ever made is Frances the Mute. That album is fucking epic. Then Bedlam, De-loused, Octahedron was good but i hate that it only has 8 songs.. Fuckin Bullshitttt!!!!!!

  • I fell in liked them for de-loused and fell in love with them for everything else. To be honest de-loused I think is far from thier best work. It was produced more like a regular album that you'd hear for regular air play. That is mainly cause Rick Rubin produced it. I think they got better and that de-loused was just to get out on the map.

  • well that's why i like deloused the best. because the songs actually sound like songs.

  • I think that all of thier other "songs" sounds like "songs" as well. Just because all of thier other music doesnt go by the standard of whats considered music today doesnt mean that its not art and that they are not songs. Music shouldnt be restrained to what someone considers the norm or the standard. Verse Chorus Verse is just a small aspect of music. You can do so much more with it. Thats what the Volta do and I love them for it. If anything I'd say fuck De-loused for this precident it set.

  • Comment Pt I.

Man, I much prefer the albums after De-Loused, truthfully I think the only reason I like De-Loused is that it was the first time I'd ever heard Progressive music (now my favorite genre) and it was the last time I saw my grandparents, so I've got a lot of memories tied to it.

But I never get the same feeling and I've moved on now.

In order from least favorite to most.

    5. De-loused In The Comatorium

    4. Tremulant EP

    3. The Bedlam In Goliath

    2. Octahedron

    1. Amputechture

  • :Edit:

    Comment Pt I.

    In order from least to most favorite;

    6. De-loused In The Comatorium

    5. Tremulant EP

    4. The Bedlam In Goliath

    3. Octahedron

    2. Frances The Mute

    1. Amputechture

  • who puts deloused last on their fav tmv? only a tool. that album is a godsend.

  • It's in the top 50 albums of all time for me, and I do love it, it's just that ever other album (inc Tremulant) transcends it for me :S

Tremulant had Cut That City and Eunuch, which are two of my fave TMV songs.

Frances had Cygnus, L'via, Miranda, Cassandra & Frances The Mute (B-Side to The Widow).

Amputechture had Vicarious, Tetragrammaton, Vermicide, Meccamputechture, Asilos Magdalena, Viscera Eyes, Day Of The Baphomets.

  • Bedlam had Wax Simulacra, Goliath, Cavalettas, Agadez, Askepios, Ouroboros, Conjugal Burns.

Octahedron had Teflon, Halo Of Tembutals, Cotopaxi, Desperate Graves, Copernicus and Luciforms.

Deloused had Eriatarka, Cicatriz and Take The Veil.

That's it for me, I used to love Inertiatic, but now it's like "ehh"

  • i completely agree with you. cicatriz esp is one of my all-time favorites by them, but the album as a whole doesn't do it for me like the others. amputechture & frances the mute are my top two.

  • de-loused is my least favorite album by them as well. it's called an opinion.

  • @sdfgshjg

    Damage to prefrontal cortex.

  • @echoesbrando for me deloused is easyly my favorite mars volta album, at the least its my 2nd but deloused is a gift of the gods(:

  • @echoesbrando Agreed! That album is tied for first with "Bedlam" in my mind :)

  • @echoesbrando de-loused is also last on my list... Bedlam & Goliath is so much better although for a first time mars volta listener de-loused is probably better. Anyone listening for a good 7-8 years will understand that. De-Loused makes great pop music though...

  • @wulf2001 7-8 years, and you don't realize that it's Bedlam in Goliath...?

  • @teholdgreg what are u talking about u noob? my comment was regards to another comment that someone made saying de-loused was the best album. My comment had nothing to do with this song. Get with the program I have all their albums.

  • @wulf2001 You said, "Bedlam & Goliath" so you're the "noob" mmkay? 7-8 years...and you can't tell that it's Bedlam IN Goliath. Fool.

  • @echoesbrando Amen to that. Only one problem. I must have listened to it over two thousand times, so unfortunately it does nothing for me anymore. :( Kinda like when someone jerks off every moment of his live from puberty without break, until he can't feel pleasurable sensations anymore. I hope a person like that doesn't exist, just sayin'.

  • 1 frances the mute all time favorite album in the world. but even the worst of the mars volta is better than anything out there.

  • Comment Pt II

Every time I listen to Amputechture it blows me away.

De-loused sounded more comercial because they had Rick Rubin producing it and he produces everyone, plus he was way too demanding with the vocals.

Omar was better for them because he knew exactly what they were looking for and he could get it.

"fans" say Bedlam was crap because it was so haphazard and messed up, but when you know what went into the album, and what they went through you begin to apreciate the piece as a whole

  • Comment Pt III

That album has so many awesome moments on it, not just Wax Simulacra & Ouroborous.

Conjugal Burns was my absolute favorite song for around 3 months.

I even emptied my entire iPod just so I could listen to it over and over again.

I have a looooot of trouble with lyrics because my brain seems to ignor them completely but I tried my hand at listening to them and the meaning I got from them was that a guy had been in love but had been burned (both figuritvely and litterally)

  • Comment Pt IV

But I was completely wrong lol, but that's the great thing about their music. It means someting different to everybody.

My point is that The Mars Volta makes some of the bes music today and without them I don't think life would be worth living.

ps. If you haven't already, go onto TheComatorium forums, because they did some demos called "The Summer Session Demos" they did Eunuch Provocateur, Concertina, Inertiatic, Roulette dares, Drunkship, Eriatarka, Cicatriz & Take The Veil

  • i KNOW you did not just put brittany spears and nirvana under the same music genre.

  • Comment removed

  • Brittany Spears is Pop. Nirvana is a Grunge Alternative Rock.

  • Comment removed

  • dude... fuck you, clearly you dont know shit about music, first of all britney spears is pop, and nirvana is grunge ^ and second, kurts music writting and genre is evolutionary.

  • Comment removed

  • What difference does it make to be offensive? You spread negative energy, that's all. What do you gain from sharing your highly offensive opinions?

  • brittany>nirvana however i dare not award myself with her aural pleasures.

  • i effin love it

  • i really liked deloused...... it didn't have some of the great time changes that the others have, but not even from frances did i get a stronger feeling of..... epicness. i mean, great music doesn't have to tell a story, but i think that, between frances and deloused, deloused did a much better (and more subtle) job of it.

  • i'd say de-loused, octahedron, frances, amputecture

  • persuasion deflowers your sympathy ...hmmm

  • Masterpiece!!

  • Viscera and Vicarious are best imo.

  • "IT" does!!!!!!! hahahhaa

  • "It Lacks a human pulse" WHAT DOES!???!? I Love this song!!!!!!!

  • word sun this shit is mazing..put an A in front of that

  • i love this song along with Miranda and Cygnus... Vismund. just some exceptionally beautiful songs.

  • 2:23 is amazing.

  • my favorite song on the album, tetragrammaton being a close second. it feels awesome to blare this song in a car, the bass makes it amazing.

  • pachequera, chingonsisima...

    the mars volta...

  • "Everybody has chosen to help the shovels that bury me!" - Cedric Bixler Zavala.

Incredible lyrics, Lopez and Zavala are probably the best musical match ever to exist.

  • that fucking bassline is dooooope!

  • holy shit! good song!

  • Damn it ends at the best part

  • esta rola esta de huevos es una chingoneria los felicito

  • i've been listening to this song all day X} great song for last day of school/birthday :D

  • Love everything they've made.. sigh :)

    they're too fantastic for words.

  • ....exactly

  • THis song makes me happy in my pants

  • i fucking love this song

  • i can't believe my brother said this song sucked. I looked at him an said, " well i guess some people can't appreciate good technical music with a meaning nowa days...instead they are appreciating things like Chris Brown and other Hip/Hop artists."

  • It lacks a human Corpse!

    It lacks a human Corpse!

    It lacks a human Corpse!

---my favorite part of this song.

  • Pulse. It lacks a human pulse.

  • every site i've been to says its corpse that or alternates pulse corpse. so either way it's still my favorite part :P

  • Now that i listen to it, it does sound more like pulse than corpse.

  • Yeah. The sites that say corpse are wrong. ;p

I own the physical copy and it says Human Pulse in the lyric book.

There's the line "You give me a corpse, you live in it now". maybe you're confusing the lines.

Also there are lines in tetragrammaton that go "You check the wrist, I faint a pulse, I'm not the human you thought I was". A lot of the songs on the album relate to eachother.

  • yea i have the copy as well i'm actually borrowing it from a friend right now. didn't know it had lyrics in it. but again yea that's whats really different an unique about The Mars Volta. It's not just mindless music thrown together for the sake of money. they do it cause they love it.

  • so you're saying the official TMV site is wrong

  • You're reading the wrong lyric.

  • this song is awesome especialy the last minute

  • :(((

  • in my opinion the best song on this album

  • what about day of the bamphomets?

  • tied for first with viscera eyes, this one gets an honorable mention for that mind blowing ending

  • sickest sax part on earth

  • agreed i love viscera

  • IMO best album...then deloused, frances, bedlam an octahedron

  • I'd say De-loused, Bedlam, Amputechture, Frances, Octahedron and Scabdates... anyway all of 'em are awesome!!

  • the holiest of water would have you drowned.

    sick.

  • a necklace of follicles with saber toothed monacles

  • thats the think with progressive rock, you love it more and more each time you listen to it. Thnk you Mars Volta

  • well said man your spot on!

  • You make sense, but I could not really classify an amazing band like this.

  • Is that a Messenger sound at 3:03???? XD It seems like every Meccamputechture have it, cuz I can hear it too at my Mecca version :S

Oh and by the way alrightey 123, YES seeing them live was the most incredible experience. Saw them in El Paso, TX. this september and in Monterrey, Mexico 2008-11-08. AMAZING!!!!
