Freaking hilarious! welcome to SonyStyle!!! however, at least you could get it to boot....

Sony at one time was the creme de la creme...i have worked on mine for 2-3 days; get one thing working and another fails. have tried 3 different boot cd's. i am returning to Dell or going to Apple, and am just glad i didn't spend major bucks on the Sony.  Why are they junking up their name? it makes no sense at all.

dude its not that 3 minutes is alot in general, but if a computer takes 3min 23sek to boot up (correct me if im wrong but doesnt it take like 1min for a regular sized computer to boot up?), i would be thinking of getting a better one, but i guess its the price you pay for having a really really small (and cool) computer

if you use quickboot it is much faster

Quickboot is like 20 seconds from turning it on until the browser is running. Such is the speed of the built-in lightweight Linux compared to Vista.

Judging by the boot time, I'd say all the crapware is still there. I've seen these P series running Vista, start-up twice as fast with all the crapware and unnecessary start-up services removed.

thats the real bad model though. If you want it to work you need real money to the higher model with the 1.6ghz with the 128 SSD to get performance out of it. Can pick one up from the UK for 1,400£ direct from sony.

work even better running windows 7. But you can download that free however so overall its a great "ultra portable pc".

Sony, so Japan? Depends on what you mean by "made." I mean, keep in mind Intel makes the Atom chipset, as well as any other manufacturers that could be involved with other hardware. Who knows how much was manufactured in China.

It seems you have a lot to run at startup. While that may be what stock is, it's really a bad view on performance. Of course it won't boot fast with all those apps running on startup - remove them and some services and see how it works - or install Windows 7. The hardware is there, the software was a bad choice though

I'm a sony fan too, and i sorta agree, i guess they figured lets make it look sexy and fashionable so we can up the price!

good thing is, computers never hold their price, as tempted as i was to pre-order one I held back and did some work on my desk top, suffice to say, in June/July i'll be in the market for a P series, knowing the price will have dropped =]
