@underwaterireland My therory is after the spawn they went in there individually to hide or moult and ended up getting trapped. Test it out..put some food in there and see if it happens again. then repeat it a few times to confirm. they seem to be damaged and fighting and i know if they are loosing a battle they done hang about. I had 2 in a tank so i studied there behaviour for quiet some time till i rehomed the lesser dominant
@adammoore251 They definitely were not trapped becasue there are lots of tiyres with a few of them (3-5) in every one but not in such amount. They easily can get out - I saw how they were doing it many times.
great footage, love the channel! must be some sort of social behaviour, i know that crayfish can communicate by releasing chemicals into the water column, so if they are in danger they release alarm pheromones to alert others. interesting that you say they are all male and yet they are not aggressive with one another like lobsters for example
anytime ive seen them swim they take off like a plane and my thinking is they havent a big enough runway to get out of the tyre ,you may know better but i thought they could only swim backwards ,cool vid keep up the good work
@KeLLingH You made me laugh: they can swim almost like fish and they can crawl better than spiders. They (males) usually never stay close together without fighting so it's hard to understand why they had joint that time in such a large group.
I was finishing off filming crayfish mating and I spotted a tyre full of male crayfish. It's hard to say why they had joined together and what they were doing there - possibly preparing for winter hibernation. I would appreciate if someone could answer this question.

Maybe they were just hiding from the women... and enjoying the peace and quiet :-)
Great footage once again, well done.
