ok well i wanna buy one of the trucks from traxxas but dont know which one i should get im torn between the erevo brushless the emaxx brushless or the stampede 4x4 vxl brushless. i have no idea on anythin about these but i want somethin tht can be fast and be off road capable cuz i frequently go to the beach snow and lake and for cost as well some one help with any ideas or tips to build one cheap
I hope that Summit wasn't launching at full throttle. Mine wheelies like that E-Maxx. I can't take off from a stop at full throttle, it will flip and crash every time. Grab a new 775 and break it in under water while spraying it out with electronics cleaner and use Tri-Flow on the bushings after you use the electronics cleaner. Run it submerged once on 3 "C" batteries and then 4"C" batteries. Sure the "C" batteries aren't free but you'll have more power than you currently do.
put the same size wheel to the emaxx and the mamba monster 2200kv combo and run it on 6s.......... : ) and the traction with those wheel on the e maxx sucks....

WHos the genious that left the emaxx sitting on the ground for a crawling comp. My stock e-maxx would have killed that little log pile.I just have mine set better. Also the bungee cord? This hinderes the e-maxx because of it's weight. It affects both but a rope would have been better. May I add I hace both these trucks plus some. No matter how it was set up the summit would still win, pulling and crawling. And I might be a little more interested in your thoughts and opinions if you had even 1 crawling vid or even 1 subscriber. Until then I think you probably aren't going to get a lot of attention or interest from anyone...

Agree with jetlag2222 - the locking diffs put this truck in a different league for crawling and heavy duty off-road. When I bought the Summit, I agonized between that and the E-Maxx - both are awesome. But for hard-core off-road and crawling, the Summit is the clear choice. People say the E-Maxx is more of a bashing/jumping/speed truck. Cool vid - wish I'd seen it when I was shopping between the Summit and E-Maxx. For what I was looking for, the Summit was the better choice.

Had he used a regular rope, the E-Maxx would have just sat there. E-Maxx beat a summit in a pulling competition...now that is just funny.

I have an Emaxx but I wish I had the Summit! The Emaxx is an absolute a psychopath though. There is just something about the way that truck moves that is insane. I hope to get the monster system for it sometime, I just can't imagine what that truck would be like if it was more a raving lunatic then it is already.

Not remote. There is a part you can order to lock the diffs, but then they are locked all the time. You can't turn them off and on from the controller.
i just got the emaxx with dual 550's and i think that compared to the summit the emaxx is more of a monster truck if you want a basher go with emaxx the summits more of a climber and rock crawler.
That is until you bust your diffs and t-locks. lol. I love the mmm but it's a lot of power for the summit. Everybody I know that has converted their Summit to the mmm spends the rest of their time replacing drivetrain parts that get trashed with all that power. :)) I have since converted my summit to dual VXL 3500s. It's about the right amount of power, brushless, and waterproof so I can still drive it underwater if I want.
@jetlag2222 until your bearings fail in your motor, and in your suspension. kinda funny after you just ripped on the mamba for breaking parts. Its not a matter of if the bearings will fail in those condition, but when.

Thanks for making this video. I've never even heard about the Summit. I have 3 crawlers and was looking at the e maxx for a basher. But now I can't decide!!
If you already have crawlers and like them, then you would definitely like the SUMMIT. It's not a "true" crawler, but with the T-Lock diffs and the big soft sticky tires, it does pretty good. With the added benefit that you can kick it up to 2nd speed and do some jumps and bashing too. :) Or better yet... get BOTH of them The SUMMIT and the EMAXX. Then you can do your own face-off. :))
E-maxx is meant as more of a racer monster truck, and the Summit is all about crawling. I've got an old-school E-maxx (before widemaxx even) and I suspect it would perform almost as well as the Summit if it had lockers. Both are epic trucks though. Was the Summit's diff locked during the pulling contest?
I just want to say I'm a fan of all of your videos, very entertaining and educational, I'm fairly new to the hobby and falling more and more in love everyday. I love my Rustler VXL and when I'm ready for my next car, your tips will definately help. Thank you.
the summit is not for racing is more for rock crawling and power. your little tiny e-max lost at pulling (weak) no car can compare at pulling agains rock crawlers :):)..
thanks i rebuilt the front and rear diff also last winter it blew 3 esc i bought some 14 tooth pinions will help this winter???? also what do u think of the 6.3s huricanes for the maxx
so take it apart and see what is broken... r/c cars and trucks are very easy to work on and you will learn a lot if you take them apart and check everything once in a while. If you get stuck, or can't figure out how to put it back together, Traxxas has diagrams of almost every model they make that you can download and see where all the parts go. So get wrenching. It's part of the fun of owning an r/c model. :)

Well I had the choice between the two....like em both...but I went with the Summit....only had a couple little issues with it ( some loose hardware and gets wet reverse is a lil scketchy) it does not stop for anything....dont run into your buddy's leg it hurts lol STILL diggin the zebra stripes Bud!...Mines blue...wondering what I should do with it.....hmmm
@jaymzedge1 So you're pretty satisfied with it so far? I have a Savage X 4.6 for speed and bashing, now i want a truck that can climb over things and go anywhere.
@niceNcrispy83 Yeah its a power house...I think you would run out of traction before you run out or power. Tip mount some weights in the front end to keep the front end down and get more traction. In low gear the tires will stop turning only when something breaks...lol....a little work on water proofing then youre squared away to go any damn place you wanna take it.
@jaymzedge1 sweet! a couple of more paychecks and ima get it. I went ahead and got me the 1/16th e revo vxl and it is a lil beast! Super fast and lcg keeps it stuck to the road for sure. So now i have a pure basher, mini speed demon/racer, and now i need the summit to do a little of everything.

But yeah I got the 2.4 GHZ Summit with 2 batteries but no charger....so I got a decent trickle charger for them and all in all it was about $600 at my LHS
@jaymzedge1 yeah, i only have the single stock battery with mine right now, but i have another stock battery on the way as well as a parallel and series adapter too. Also, earlier today i got on maxamps.com and ordered 2 of the most powerful nimh batteries for it! Ill have 4 just for my mini revo and ill be able to run one pair in parallel, then the next pair in series :)
@jaymzedge1 I forgot to mention that i also ordered another quick/peak charger so i can charge 2 batteries at a time. This way i only have to wait 1 hour for both batteries to charge.

what you should do is lock the diffs in the e-maxx and get a e-revo and lock the diffs in that then see who comes out on top also where you in low gear for the pull? i would try high just to be curious
I watched this vid a long time ago and it still amazes me, great work jetlag. The summit is an awesome machine ( E-revo, jacked up, stronger driveline, diff locks and 2 speed) The ultimate machine!, I feel sorry for my Poor old brushless emaxx that i had to sell so urgently to get my summit!!, tekin rx8 6s is about a week away now!

E-maxx is meant as more of a racer monster truck, and the Summit is all about crawling. I've got an old-school E-maxx (before widemaxx even) and I suspect it would perform almost as well as the Summit if it had lockers. Both are epic trucks though. Was the Summit's diff locked during the pulling contest?

the summit is not for racing is more for rock crawling and power. your little tiny e-max lost at pulling (weak) no car can compare at pulling agains rock crawlers :):)..

thanks i rebuilt the front and rear diff also last winter it blew 3 esc i bought some 14 tooth pinions will help this winter???? also what do u think of the 6.3s huricanes for the maxx

so take it apart and see what is broken... r/c cars and trucks are very easy to work on and you will learn a lot if you take them apart and check everything once in a while. If you get stuck, or can't figure out how to put it back together, Traxxas has diagrams of almost every model they make that you can download and see where all the parts go. So get wrenching. It's part of the fun of owning an r/c model. :)

ive got the same problem on my BL, i think its just that the axle has loosened from punching the throttle and when you turn it causes extra stress on it, making it click

Well I had the choice between the two....like em both...but I went with the Summit....only had a couple little issues with it ( some loose hardware and gets wet reverse is a lil scketchy) it does not stop for anything....dont run into your buddy's leg it hurts lol STILL diggin the zebra stripes Bud!...Mines blue...wondering what I should do with it.....hmmm

@jaymzedge1 So you're pretty satisfied with it so far? I have a Savage X 4.6 for speed and bashing, now i want a truck that can climb over things and go anywhere.

@niceNcrispy83 Yeah its a power house...I think you would run out of traction before you run out or power. Tip mount some weights in the front end to keep the front end down and get more traction. In low gear the tires will stop turning only when something breaks...lol....a little work on water proofing then youre squared away to go any damn place you wanna take it.

@jaymzedge1 sweet! a couple of more paychecks and ima get it. I went ahead and got me the 1/16th e revo vxl and it is a lil beast! Super fast and lcg keeps it stuck to the road for sure. So now i have a pure basher, mini speed demon/racer, and now i need the summit to do a little of everything.

@niceNcrispy83 LOL...nice I think I should have gone with the VXL but I didnt...I have the 1/16 SLASH and its a fun little truck with 2 batts running it lol..I have the series and the parrallel adapters...just dends on what mood I am in. speed and smoking motors? or a nice long run? But yeah I got the 2.4 GHZ Summit with 2 batteries but no charger....so I got a decent trickle charger for them and all in all it was about $600 at my LHS

@jaymzedge1 yeah, i only have the single stock battery with mine right now, but i have another stock battery on the way as well as a parallel and series adapter too. Also, earlier today i got on maxamps.com and ordered 2 of the most powerful nimh batteries for it! Ill have 4 just for my mini revo and ill be able to run one pair in parallel, then the next pair in series :)

@jaymzedge1 I forgot to mention that i also ordered another quick/peak charger so i can charge 2 batteries at a time. This way i only have to wait 1 hour for both batteries to charge.

@niceNcrispy83 Yeah the extra batts are fun... but with a brushed motor like mine, when youre going for speed....it tends to let the white smoke out of the motor...and who knew it was hard to put all the white smoke back in it....LOL...yeah gonna be upgrading to a brushless...just not sure what to go with on that slash yet...then lipos

what you should do is lock the diffs in the e-maxx and get a e-revo and lock the diffs in that then see who comes out on top also where you in low gear for the pull? i would try high just to be curious

in vs video if you had the summit in high gear without locked diff then it would count, and if you say no then the price difference is pretty clear

I watched this vid a long time ago and it still amazes me, great work jetlag. The summit is an awesome machine ( E-revo, jacked up, stronger driveline, diff locks and 2 speed) The ultimate machine!, I feel sorry for my Poor old brushless emaxx that i had to sell so urgently to get my summit!!, tekin rx8 6s is about a week away now!

I feel the pulling match was unfair. Both trucks should of had the same tire set-up to achieve an accurate comparison. I feel the outcome would have been unsurprisingly different. I do agree that the Summit is far superior with crawling due to the clearance and locking diffs.

Hey maybe you can help me...deciding between this and the e-revo, which is tough since they're 2 different types. This is much more of a truck, but I doubt that it can be a "beater". The revo is also tough but much faster...any ideas?
