  • This reminds me of prince of tennis...

  • GO forth my fellow trickster

  • At first I thought he would fail

  • lolol so sick

  • haha gg

  • haha I do this all the time!

  • but isn't this considered as two swings?

  • @Khanhachan409 well look carefully. When he took the stance of a smash he missed intentionally to confuse his opponent to not come near the net. Then he hit the drop shot

  • @Aznluk1357 hm..idk if other people will actually see that, unless you make the fake smash really noticeable that i blind man can see.

  • @Khanhachan409 that applies to serves...

  • i saw it coming, because the title told me

  • Cheeky little thing, thanks for vid;)

  • bravo bravo. true class right there. gotta see if i can pull this off myself. would be hilarious.

  • i like that. i will do that in my upcoming matches.

  • I'd try it but I'm afraid I'd fail so probably won't in a match.

  • Omg I wanna try this so bad

  • i fukin did this in a game it was 3-0 my way short duce AND I FAILED :'(

    Take the smash trust me

  • would be much easier just to play the smash...

  • would much easier just to play the smash...

  • press 3 for the best part

  • lol. this is actually a really good shot i think

    i'm gonna try it sometimes

  • gotta try that next time i have the chance

  • im am so trying that when i get the chance, but knowing me i would miss completely

  • what happens when u miss it and look like a douche

  • ha, if only i could do that.

  • wow this is something i would've thought of (had i thought of it, that is). I guess I'm going to have to plagiarize this at the next tournament hehe.

  • I was expecting it to be bad, bud thats pretty good move.

  • haha I was expecting it to be awful, but that's pretty funny.

  • Oh! Amazing!

  • nice move!

  • nice ! I need do that on a match

  • haha,that is so tight

  • Don't try this as a finishing move during match point for both players. A single mistake can humiliate you out of the world xD

  • Love it!!

Trying that as soon as I'm in that position

  • daaaaaammmnnnn

  • i gotta try this

  • i dont get it why dont u smash it would go less against the nature and probably if u kept doing smashes the game could end faster therefore u wont get tired why work so hard to fake a smash when a smash can work just as well

  • that was so cool

  • Is that legal? You only get 1 swing at the ball.

  • @lilDavidN

    thought that's only on serving - -

  • @lordbossharrow nope. They made it a real not too long ago. You only get 1 swing at the ball. It doesnt matter if you hit the ball twice or 3 times. You get 1 swing and thats it.

  • @lilDavidN well, I'm probably wrong, but isn't that technically one swing? he didn't swing twice

  • @paulrocks247 That's what I'm trying to find out. lol. Was that 1 swing or 2? Cuz after he faked the smash, he kinda pushed the ball up by moving the racquet up.

  • @lilDavidN They're coming up with the dumbest rules for sports... like that thing about cheerleading.

  • @lilDavidN when you serve

  • HAHHA!!! awesome!! i also like the woman laugh in the back

  • this is also called a smash feint

  • everyone knows this already

  • skillz

  • disrespectful hahha. tennis player are such crybabies. no disrecpect in that its the other player who got caugth

  • if you do this pro-level, i guarantee you that it's considered a disrespectful shot towards your opponent. that's why no pros in the top 100 do stuff like that. fun trick nonetheless :)

  • lol this is so good

  • omfgggg i wanna learn that!

  • This looks like something stolen from Fabrice Santoro's sacred bag of Tricks. O_o

The funny thing is that, if I practice this, I may actually learn how to hit the smash.

  • This looks like something stolen from Fabrice Santoro's sacred bag of Tricks. O_o

  • wat a LEGEND

  • This is really cool but the fact is once you become relatively competent at tennis if you get an overhead that easy you should just hit an overhead for a winner.

  • that awesome gonna use dat

  • Oooh! THAT"S NICE! :D

  • i must try this

  • Only problem is the odds of having such a perfect smash winner in an upper level (3.5+ i'd guess) are slim to none. They usually land further back and such

  • Wow, I saw the title and was still tricked! Especially cuz I saw you wind up for a smash and was wondering how you were gonna pull it off. I'm gonna try this one out.

  • Brilliant dude. I´m gonna try it on my next lesson. I never really thought of this and it´s the first time i´ve seen it.

There are other types of fake drop shots but these one is one of the coolest.

  • nice, nice, nice

  • fuckin sweet! neat trick!

  • lol i gotta try this next time i'm out on the fields.

  • hahaha..nice fake there!!

  • That looks difficult...

  • a little risky, but if your smashes suck, woot!

  • its nice.. but i think when you got into that position to smash it.. i would rather smash it

  • Really nice move, but if your fast, and aren't way behind the baseline, you could probably reach it. Better go for the smash pherhaps.

  • I've won a tournament at the local tennis club using that technique! Everyone was looking up at me. It felt so good!

Ofcourse it's a wonderfully found technique.

  • lol, i can do that aswell, it took a few tries to perfect but..

  • yey its works... i won

  • Lolz Pwned.

  • omg! Cool move there

  • Very Very nice and dificult to execute!

  • ....nice

  • hahahaha sooo gooodd!!!

  • haha im gonna use that sometime during a match.

  • If you're playing to win the match, you'd just go for the smash...

  • sometimes the player is already back behind the baseline ready for your smash...so you'd probably use a dropshot.

  • well its up to you if drop shot or smash..your the one to decide which is sure...

  • @mickelboy182 novak djokavic tried that once in the sydney medibank, but miss timed it and and it hit his head

  • @mickelboy182 Lmao. True that man.

  • @mickelboy182 i would say that's true but then again, there are some people who can tell where a smash is going to land and can prepare to return it, in this video he fakes a smash letting the opponent run backwards and use a drop shot, in my opinion this shot is very effective.

  • @meknownothingatall

That close to the net, you'd be able to win with a smash no matter what. If you can't then you'd have to consider trying a different sport methinks!

  • @mickelboy182 even if you're that close to the net you can still miss and lands the ball right into the net, smashes are great finishers but they can miss just as well, even federer landed one into the net with a overhead smash, this is just playing with creativity thats all

  • @mickelboy182 Perhaps he intended to do that just to show off.

  • @NarabaO

I get so many replies to that comment, It was made before youtube automatically tagged the @(user)

It was a reply to some guy saying that this shot would in fact be suitable in a high level competition, and in some cases more useful than a simple smash.

Clearly that's not the case, and any player playing at a high level would put that smash away with ease.

  • @mickelboy182 But if your a smart player you win with skill. not brute force. A slam can be reached.

  • @HassanPech

You'd have to be terrible to not put it away when the ball falls that short on your side of the court....

  • Wimbledon Final 2012. Current scoreline: You vs Federer: 7:6,6:7,6:7,7:6, 21:20, 30:40, Running forehand into the corner, Federer scrambles and hits a defensive lob landing short leaving you the same position as the dude in the video at 0:07. Smash? Nah fuck that too easy to finish off, you wanna be remembered. What better way to do so by pulling off one of the greatest finishes in sports history at 0:08. Now that takes two fucking massive balls and a cuntload of mental cojones.

  • @mickelboy182 not necessarily.

There are a lot of players, like me, who have enough reach and fast enough reaction time to return most smashes, but if you set up to do that, you'll never return a drop, or if you do it will be pretty much the weakest return possible.

  • @spartan231490

Not from where that drop shot is being hit. If you're right next to the net, any competent player would readily end the rally with a smash.

  • @mickelboy182 I've returned smashes from competant players who were right next to the net. It takes both fast reflexes and a good ability to read where the opponent will hit the ball, but if you have both those things you can return smashes against most players, assuming you're closer to the net than the baseline. You need to be able to reach it, so you have to see it coming, but it can be done.

  • @spartan231490

I stand by my statement, you play decent opposition (not some local league scrub) and there's no way that you should be able to return a smash when they are mere inches from the net. It'd take a miss-hit or an extremely weak action.

  • @mickelboy182

    You are a noob

  • amazing

  • Yeah...if someone gives you so easy ball :D

  • oh that is really COOL ! i will definitely try that shot.

  • WIN!

  • That's a great way to win a match point.

  • funny drop.

  • FABULOUS *GAY ACCENT*

  • OWNED !!!

  • AH! I'm so gonna use that!!!

  • haha, that was actually really creative!!!! great video

  • this was nice shot.

  • clever but I'm not sure how applicable this would be in a match situation. how many times do you get an overhead that is IN FRONT of you? unless you are playing a real moron or the shot is exceptionally weak, lobs will be aimed further back.

still, its a cute trick and I'd like to try it during warmup. :)

  • this trick is there for these shots to happen once in a blue moon ^^.

  • stunning. after TONS of practice i got this shot mastered. the problem is after u do it twice in a match its a mind game, becuase the opponent predicts it. in a match i usually use it twice, then the 3rd time when they run up predicting the hidden drop shot i actually smash it. its fun to play w/ the opponents heads when u get learn this shot =D

  • priceless!!

  • nice

  • insane touch

  • Crazy, nice!!!

  • that is going to be my new shot

  • roll backward is impossible but what about making the ball bounce backwards it can be done right?

you are close to the net

  • dang that's crazy amazing timing

  • well i believe it's all about tactics lol smashing is one thing but pulling a drop shot out of the blue really can throw the opponent's rhythm off im sure.. xD that's a cool move i wanna try that sometime :p

  • Svaka čast!!!

  • that it is what I call creativity..

  • Lol I was like "WTF!" amazing that's awesome

  • cuz the opponent would be running to the back and woul never catch that in time...

  • but then he might still have a chance cuz he can still hit it O.o

  • prince of tennis is fantasy.

  • WOW

  • Lol looks exactly like what ryoma does and the guy from st rudolph lol mada mada dane

  • Wow That Was A Good Trick ;P gotta use that in one of my matches :) thanks 8/10

  • That was godly.

  • genius

  • so cool...

  • cool haha :P

  • amazing!!!

  • niceeee

  • genius

  • niceeeeeee

  • that's not a real move. the only time i've actually seen that is on the prince of tennis shows and movie. other than that, i doubt that it's real unless someone can prove it...

  • and yes, that was for you rotario00.

  • there are no moves in tennis of course its a shot. duh

  • ahaha tooo crazy

  • (That's a badminton shot) It could actually work but it's probably a little hard to time and not just hit rim and look dumb.

  • thats a nice move. I have done it in a real game.

  • That's f*cking Bad ass1 I rarely say it to. DAMN im going to learn this one.

  • hahaha thats so intellegent i think uve just created a new type of play calld like trick play or sumthing i cant believe u actually thought of that Gr8 work

  • I will agree w/ blue.......that close to the net and the ball pops up that high, you BETTER smash that sucker !!! besides, most people are not going to be that coordinated.

  • Very good! I will try it!

  • That's simply amazing. It's surprising no professional tennis players have tried that...

  • That's the most bad ass drop shot I've ever seen. Awesome

  • Do that in a Grand Slam Final!! :D

    nice.

  • That... is ... PRETTY. lol.

  • yeah but thats not the point of this vid

  • cool i need some new tricks

  • totally unnecessary, but awesome anyway haha.

  • i'll be sure to try that on my friend next time

  • Man you a a genius! Your teachings are so simple. It would be great to have a coach like you! Congrats :D

  • Haha i'm too unco, i'd have to take it off the bounce probably.

  • holy smokes lol.

I'll try that on my friend in spring.

    Nice "invention?"

  • hahaha i was waiting like "alright whens the drop when is it"

  • Oh man..that was a beatifuul shot...

  • impressive =)

  • Awesome, I'll have to try this next time I make it to the courts.

  • haha very very nice i will try that on my next practice although i'm sure it will take a couple of tries :P

    thanks a lot.

  • DUDE This is wicked. I'll try that next time! Nice drop! Anyways, How did your opponent's hit come out as? Like, a bad short lob?

  • Yes, I stretched my opponent with the previous short cross court shot and then he tried to defend with a high ball but it landed very short.

    Perfect for this trick! ;)

  • omg this is bananas
